Sourceमहादेव उवाच। संगमस्य समीपे तु सत्तीर्थं लोकविश्रुतम् । आदित्याख्यं परं तस्मान्न भूतं न भविष्यति १। यस्य वै दर्शनं कार्यं स्नानं वै पुष्करेण तु । पूजनं चार्कपुष्पेण करवीरैस्तथा पुनः २। तत्र श्राद्धं च दानं च कुर्युर्वै मानवाः सदा । इदमादित्यकं तीर्थं पवित्रं पापनाशनम् ३। दर्शनात्पुण्यदं तीर्थं महापातकिनामपि ४। इति श्रीपाद्मे महापुराणे पंचपंचाशत्साहस्र्यां संहितायामुत्तरखंडे सत्तीर्थमाहात्म्यंनामैकसप्तत्यधिकशततमोऽध्यायः १७१।
mahādeva uvāca| saṃgamasya samīpe tu sattīrthaṃ lokaviśrutam | ādityākhyaṃ paraṃ tasmānna bhūtaṃ na bhaviṣyati 1| yasya vai darśanaṃ kāryaṃ snānaṃ vai puṣkareṇa tu | pūjanaṃ cārkapuṣpeṇa karavīraistathā punaḥ 2| tatra śrāddhaṃ ca dānaṃ ca kuryurvai mānavāḥ sadā | idamādityakaṃ tīrthaṃ pavitraṃ pāpanāśanam 3| darśanātpuṇyadaṃ tīrthaṃ mahāpātakināmapi 4| iti śrīpādme mahāpurāṇe paṃcapaṃcāśatsāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāmuttarakhaṃḍe sattīrthamāhātmyaṃnāmaikasaptatyadhikaśatatamo'dhyāyaḥ 171|
English translation
Mahādeva said :
1-4. Near the confluence is a good holy place (Sattīrtha) well-known in the world, called Āditya . There was not and there will not be a holy place superior to it. One should visit it, and bathe. Worship should be done with a blue lotus, an arka flower and also with karavīras . Men should always perform a śrāddha and offer gifts there. This Ādityaka- tīrtha is pure and destroys sins. This holy place gives religious merit even to great sinners who visit it.
