Mystery of abode in Yamuna waters to escape fear of Kaliyaka Garuda
King Bahulashva asked - "Brahman! Why was Garuda feared only by Kalianaga, except for the other serpents that inhabited Ramanakadvipa? Tell me all about it. 1.
Srinardji said, "Rajan! Garuda, the destroyer of the Nagas in Ramanakadvipa, went daily and killed many Nagas. So one day, terrified, the Spanish there said this to the angry eagle who had arrived on the island. 2.
The serpent said, "O Garudman! Hello there. You are directly the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. How will our lives be safe when we continue to eat sarpoko like this? So get a snake sacrifice from each house once every month, separately. It will also be accompanied by the serving of sweet food items such as herbs and nectar. Accept all of this as soon as it is lawful for you. 3-4.
Garudji said, "Sacrifice one serpent from each house every day; otherwise, how will I be able to fill my stomach with the sacrifice of other things without the serpent?" It will be 5.
He says to me, "Naradji, king!" At his behest, all the serpents began to make regular divine sacrifices to Mahatma Garuda, one by one, for self-defense. 6. (Vrindavan Khand Chapter 11 to 15)
O Lord! When the opportunity came to be sacrificed from Kali's house, he forcibly consumed all the sacrificial items offered to Garuda. At that time, the mighty eagle came with great fury. On his arrival, he struck Kalianag with his claws. Kaalia fainted from the impact of the eagle's stroke. Waking up again, taking a deep breath and licking his mouth with his tongues, the best of the serpents, the mighty Kaliya, spread his hundred branches and quickly bit the eagle with his venomous teeth. Then Garuda, the divine vehicle, caught him by the beak, threw him to the earth, and began to beat him repeatedly with his wings. Out of the eagle's beak, the serpent attached both of its claws and began to pull its wings, repeatedly blowing. At that time, two birds emerged from their wings - the Nilkanth and the Peacock. Mithileshwar! The sighting of these birds on Ashwin Shukla Dashami is considered sacred and bestows desired fruits. Filled with fury, Garuda again grabbed Kaliya by the beak and knocked him to the ground, and suddenly they started dragging his body. Kalia, then terrified, escaped from the eagle's beak. Even the mighty bird king Garuda suddenly started following him. Everywhere he went, to the seven islands, the seven bays, and the seven seas, he saw Garuda chasing after him. He reached Nag Bhulonk, Bhulonk, Swalonk, and Mahlonk respectively, and from there he escaped to Janalok. Wherever he went, Garuda would also reach there. So he went back to the lower realms in succession; but no one protected him out of fear of Krishna (Lord Vishnu). When he could not find rest anywhere, Kaaliya Devadhideva, distressed by fear, approached Sesha's feet and bowed before Lord Sesha. With folded hands in circumambulation, Kaaliya, with a large back, spoke in a low, frightened, and trembling manner. 7-20 |
Kalia said, "Bhuvaneshwar, the landlord! Oh dear! Land - Lord of the heavens! Your pastimes are immeasurable; you are the all-powerful, all-pervading Puranpurusha; protect me, protect me. 21.
Naradji says, "Phanishvara Deva Janardhana, seeing Kali as humble and fearful, pleased her with a sweet speech." 22.
The rest said - Mahamate Kaaliya! Listen to what I have to say. There is no doubt that you will not be protected anywhere in the world. (There is only one means of protection; let me tell you, listen) In the past, there was a Siddha Muni known as Soubhari. He lived in the waters of the Yamuna in Vrindavan and meditated for ten thousand years. Seeing Meenaraja's vihara in that water made him want to build a house too. Then sage Mahabudhi married off a hundred daughters of king Mandhata. King Mandhata was amazed and lost all pride in wealth when Srihari granted him the most opulent Vaishnavi property. Garuda killed Meenaraja at the sight of him during a long period of penance in the waters of the Yamuna. Enraged, Muni Shrestha Saubhare of Dinavatsala, who saw the Pisces family in distress, cursed Garuda. 23-28 |
Saubhri said - Pakshiraj! From this day forward, in the future, if you forcefully eat fish inside this pond, then my curse will immediately put an end to your life. 29.
Sheshji says, "Since that day, Garuda, terrified of Munike's curse, never comes there." Therefore, it is black. You must go to Sriharike Vipin-Vrindavan sooner than I tell you. Set up your abode there in the Yamuna without fear. There you will never be afraid of an eagle. 30-31 | (Vrindavan Khand Chapter 11 to 15)
Naradji says - Rajan! Terrified of Sheshnag's words, Kaliya took up residence in Kalindi with his wife and children. Then it was Lord Krishna who brought him out of the Yamuna waters. 32.
