The Mahatmya of Dwarkapuri, Gomati, and Chakratirtha; the curse of Ghantanada and Parshvamulika by Durvasamuni in Kubera's Vaishnavism
Srinardji says - Rajan! In this way I have made known to you the cause of the coming of Dwaraka, the avenger of all sins and the Benefactor of all virtues; now what more do you desire to hear? 1.
Bahulashva asked, "Munishreshtha! The land of Dwarakanagari from Dwarka in the form of Kalyana is omnipresent, so tell me about the main pilgrimages there. 2.
Srinardji says - Rajan! The Tirthamayi Yajna Bhoomi that forms the boundary from Dwarka to Prabhas is Mokshadayini 'Dwarka'. Its extension is a hundred yojanas. After having a darshan of the city of Dwaraka, Nara becomes Narayana. Even if a donkey dies in Dwaraka, it goes to Vaikuntha Loka through Chaturbhuja. One who has a darshan of Dwarka, hears its story, and sometimes utters the name 'Dwarka', or has a darshan-bath there and also donates tinke, attains Paramagatik after death. 3-5 | (Dwarkand Chapter 6 to 10)
At one point, Breehari saw the devotee Revata longing for love and made him see his own form. Tears were streaming down his face at the time. From the eyes of the Lord appeared the Mahanadi Gomati, the sight of which absolves one of sins such as Brahmahatya. A man who wears the sacred thread of Gomti on his head is immediately free from the sin of a hundred births - there is no doubt about it. If a person pronounces the name 'Gomati' while bathing anywhere, then he undoubtedly reaps the benefits of bathing in Gomati. The king of Vidharaja. One who performs a strana in the Triveni of Prayag in the month of Magha while the Sun is in the Capricorn zodiac sign, attains the virtuous fruits of a hundred Ashwamedha sacrifices; but if he bathes in Gomati when the Sun is in the Capricorn zodiac, he attains a thousand times more virtues than he did in Prayag. Even the four-faced Brahma is not able to convey the significance of Gomati. All the stones in the 'Chakratirtha' of Gomati are received by all the Chakrabhavas; therefore, they should be worshipped diligently. One who bathes on Dwadashi in a chakratirtha with the chakra symbol rhymes with the steps of the chakrapani even when the sins are divided. Even a sinful person, who has fallen from the accumulated sins of millions of births, reaches the steps of Chakratirtha and attains the position of Moksha. 6-14 |
Bahulashva asked, "O Lord! How did the Chakratirtha at Mahanadi Gomati become more auspicious and respectable to the people? Tell me about it. 15.
Srinardji said, "Rajan! It is in this context that experts narrate this ancient history, the mere hearing of which leads to the total loss of sins. 16.
Once upon a time, Lord Kubera, the lord of Alkapuri Rajadhiraja Dharmatma Nidhipati, initiated Vaishnavism on the land on the north bank of Kailasa. In that yajna of his, Lord Vishnu himself descended from his abode. Brahma, Shiva, Jambbedi Indra, Varuna, the lord of the water creatures, Vayu, Yama, Surya, Soma, Sarvajaneshwari Prithvi, Gandharva, Apsara, and Siddha - all arrived there in that yajna. 17-19 |
O Lord! All the Devarshi and Brahmarishi also came there. At that time, Nalkuber, the son of Kubera, was the moneylender. Virabhadra was appointed in defence of the sacrifice. The service of the virtuous was entrusted to Gajanana Ganapati. All the marudranas served the purpose of serving the kitchen. Swamikartikeya was devout and treated the guests gathered in the hall with reverence, and both Ghantanada and Parshvamouli, the ministers of Kubera, who were the foremost of all the scriptures, were made the granadhyakas. Thus the ritualistic performance of that sacrifice, filled with great festivity, took place. 20-23 | (Dwarkand Chapter 6 to 10)
By performing the Avabhrita Shravan of the Yajñanta, the great statesman Rajaraja Kubera granted the gods their best share and the Brahmins their fair share. Thus, when all the Devarishis were satisfied with the perfection of the supreme sacrifice, sage Durvasa, wearing a staff, umbrella, and turban, arrived. He was by nature angry and mean-spirited. The beauty of standing at their feet. The hair on the beard and moustache was long. The stomach had gone dry and it was cold. The best sages arrived there, wearing kushasana, samidha, water pots, and deer skin. Frightened, Kubera went to the sage who was there and worshipped him ritually, bowed at his feet in circumambulation and said, "Brahman! With your debut, today my birth became successful, the building became meaningful and this my yajna also became successful. " 24-28 |
Naradji says - Rajan! Hearing this, Rajaraja, the benevolent, benevolent, lord of the elves, said to him - 'Very well, accept my retribution. 'Trying to give away the funds in this way, the treasurer spoke to Kubera, enticed by the greed of his benefactor minister Ghantanad and Parshvamuli. 34-35 |
They both said - this greedy Brahmin is alone, what will he do with all the funds? Give it a million divine dinars, keep the rest with you. Protect your vocation and this north direction. 36.
Naradji says - Rajan! Hearing the harsh words of those ministers, Durvasa burst into flames of fury. His eyebrows turned crooked and his eyes turned red. The whole universe shook like a butterfly for two minutes. Seeing Kubera lying at his feet, the sage cursed the two ministers. 37-38 |
The sage said, "Great hour! Your wisdom is going to be rooted in sin. You are very greedy, you are as greedy as a customer; therefore, O mindful one. You are going to be the customer. Behind the scenes with sinful thoughts! Thou art also full of greed for riches and drunkenness, and is inspiring like an elephant; therefore, wiser! You will become an elephant. 39-40 |
Srinardji says - Rajan! Cursing them both, Munivar Durvasa, taking the treasure from Kubera, again granted Kubera a very rare boon - 'Kubera! With this donation, you will have nine funds doubled. Saying this, they left with the funds. Aha! How wonderful is the strength of the most radiant Sages. . 41-42 |
Thus was completed the tenth chapter, the Mahatmya of Chakratirtha, in the context of the legend of Gomati in the Narada Bahulashva-Samvad under Dwarka Khanda in the Srigarghasamhita. 10.
