Description of Sakam and Nishkam Bhakti Yoga

Srivyasji said, "Dwarakanaresh! You are blessed. You are the lover of Sri Hari and Lord Krishna is your favorite god. You have questioned about Bhakti yoga, by which that pure intellect of yours is also blessed. Yadav! On hearing which even the great sinner who destroys the world is purified, I narrate to you in detail the description of Bhakti Yoga. The king! There are two types of Bhakti yoga, namely Saguna and Nirguna. There are many variations of sagunas and nirgunas have the same characteristic. There are different types of Saguna Bhakti according to the attributes of the body-shares. There are three types of devotees with those qualities. Listen to their descriptions in different ways. An irate man with a discriminatory viewpoint who resorts to violence, arrogance, and machismo and performs Srihariki bhakti has been called a "tamas bhakta." The king! One who diligently worships Srihariki by targeting the themes of fame, opulence, and the senses is counted among the 'Rajasic' devotees. A devotee who worships Lord Vishnu for eternal salvation with the aim of Karmakashya is said to be 'Sattvic'. Excellency! There are four types of men who sing hymns to Lord Vishnu - Artharthi, Artha, Jigyasa and Jnani. They have done their own good. There are several types of these bhakti yoga. The Sakami devotees who worship Sriharika through Bhakti yoga are also very virtuous. 4-12 |

In the same way, now listen to the signs of Nirguna Bhakti Yoga. Just as the waters of the Ganges flow naturally towards the sea, the mind's movement uncontrollably and uncontrollably towards Lord Krishna without reason, even for the most perfect and absolute reasons than hearing, has been called 'Nirguna-bhakti'. Honourable! Now listen to the signs of the Nirguna devotees. Those devotees of God have no inclination towards the kingdom of the unbroken earth, the position of Brahma, Indrasana, the ownership of the underworld, and even the attainments of yoga. Yadweshwara! The bliss of Bhagavad-nirvana casts a shadow over them, so they never accept salokya mukti, even when given by God. They prefer to be distracted by the separation of the selfless devotee God, thinking that the love of being away is not the same as that of being near. Therefore, they also do not desire the liberation of proximity. To some devotees, the Lord grants equal liberation, but being absolute, the devotees do not accept it either. Despite their desire for equality, their longing remains only for the service of God. Such devotees never take Ekatva (Sayujya) or even Kaivalyakas, a form of oneness with Brahman. They mean that if this happens, what will be the difference between the religion of the master and that of the servant. Those who are absolute devotees have the same vision. They have a calm demeanor and do not hold grudges against anyone. He holds that all worldly positions, from the Kaivalya to the Sakambhava, are to be assumed under Sakambhava. Just as the perfume of flowers is known only by the nostrils, the eye does not know it, just as the supreme bliss of the Absolute is known only by the selfless devotee of God. Just as the hand that makes the Rasak is always unaware of the taste of the Rasak, Sakami devotees can never know the bliss. So Raja! Think of this bhakti yoga as the supreme posture. Let me now describe to you the worship practices of the Nishkama devotees - the remembrance of Lord Vishnu, the chanting of his name and attributes, the listening, the service of the feet, the worship, the greeting, the servitude, the companionship, and the submission of oneself to the feet of the Lord. The king! Devotees who constantly worship God with love are rare in the Bhagavad Bhava world. 13-26 | (Shri VigyanKhand Chapter 1 to 5)

Those who treat elders with respect, kindness towards children in every way, and friendship with their peers, who always have compassion for all living beings, who are the sweethearts of Lord Krishna's lotus feet, who yearn for the sight of Lord Krishna, who remember Lord Krishna like a woman who remembers her foreign master, whose eyes gleam with joy at the remembrance of Lord Krishna, whose body sometimes changes color in separation from God, who sweetly exclaims, "Shri Krishna! Govinda! Green! Those who keep the rosary and keep their fast day and night to Lord Srihari are the best devotees of Bhagavatottam Bhagavan. 27-30 |
