Description of the Mathura-Leela of Shri Rama-Krishna

The sage Pradvipaka said, "Crown Prince Duryodhana! Let me briefly describe the feats performed by Lord Balaramji and Srikrishnachandra in Mathura. After some time, Kalanimikumar Kansa sent Akrurji to summon Balarama and Krishna. Akrurji arrived at Vrajam. The gopis were despondent at the sight of Krishna being offered to go to Mathura. God assured them by calling them all separately. Then, riding a chariot with Balramji himself, Akrurji accompanied him to Mathura. On the way, Yamunaji fell on the road. In its waters, the god made Akrur have a darshan of his Tej or abode. He then reached Mathura in the early hours of the morning and watched Mathurapuri from all sides till the afternoon. Rama-Krishna, disguised as a human in the form of Leela, is the Puranic Purusha. All the men and women of Mathura yearned to have a darshan of him, and they left all their work and ran to him, as the rivers run to the sea. Lord Rama-Krishna, who crushed the faces of millions of Kamadevas, showed his beauty to everyone, and they roamed freely, taking away everyone's heart. 1-3 | (Shribalabhadrakhand Chapter 7 to 13)

Subsequently, on the highway, God requested clothes from Dhobi and Rangrej; but when he did not give the clothes, he struck them with his hands at the sight of everyone, freeing both Dhobi and Rangrej from that life. God then found a tailor. He adorned them with garments, and God gave them their likeness. Then Kubja found Sairandhri. She was crooked from three places. On the pretext of receiving sandalwood, the Lord made it straight. She became a beauty in all three worlds. He then went to the place where Kansaka's bow had been kept, having interacted with the Vaishya merchants there and taking some children with him. The bow was studded with gold and was as long as seven palm trees. He could not even be carried by thousands of men. The bow was made of eight metals, was extremely heavy, and weighed as much as a million pounds. Kansa got that bow from Parashurama. That Vaishnava (related to Lord Vishnu) bow was exactly spherical like that of Lord Sesha. Lord Krishna saw it and took it by force; then, in the sight of all the people, he offered the bow enthusiastically and took it away with a twinkle in his eye. He then supported both arms and broke them in the same manner as an elephant breaks a cane with its trunk. The ominous sound of the bow breaking echoed throughout the universe, including the underworld. The stars and giants were distracted from their places. Not only that, but the whole universe trembled like a plate for two hours. 4 - 7.

In the afternoon, the Kuvalayapida elephant was seen at the entrance of the stadium. Bhagavan approached her and fought with her for a moment in the form of Ballila, then grabbed her trunk, moved her around, and then knocked her to the ground just as the child would have knocked Kamandalu down. After slaying the Kuvalayapida elephant in this manner, Sribalarama and Krishnachandra reached the Kansa-constructed theatre and gave appropriate visions to all the people seated there according to their respective moods. Then, after reaching the arena, they set out for a malla-yuddha and in front of Kansa, Lord Balarama and Krishna-Chandra, in front of everyone, destroyed Chanur, Mushtiq, Koota, Shaal, and Tausala. Seeing these actions of Krishna, Kamsa began to despise him through illusions. Meanwhile, Lord Krishna jumped on to the very high stage of that bitter-talking Kansaka. Kamsa, seeing that Krishna appeared immediately like death, rose from the dais and took up the shield and the sword in his hands at that very moment, condemning the Lord. Krishna immediately grabbed the shield-sword-wielding kansaka with his fierce arms, just as Garuda would grab the venomous serpent with his beak. But just as the serpent escaped from Garuda's beak, Kansa got out of God's armband and prepared to fight again with a shield and sword. Both Lord Krishna and Kansa came on stage and attacked each other with speed, adorned as if two lions were fighting on a mountain. Kamsa then leaped a hundred hands up into the sky, and Lord Krishna likewise leaped and caught him like a falcon. Kansa again escaped from Krishna's hands, then Krishna, who was wearing a triloka, again grabbed him with his fierce armbands and flung him from space to the stage. Just as a tree is uprooted by lightning, the pillars of the stage are broken as soon as Kansake falls. The Kansa, with a stern body like Vajra's, fell down. Once he felt some restlessness; but then he suddenly woke up and started fighting with Mahatma Krishna. Lord Krishna, holding it with his arms, knocked it down on the stage and they sat on its chest. They then grabbed his head and pulled his hair, throwing it down the stage into the arena just as they were about to drop a rock from the mountain. Then the Lord Himself, the Eternal, the Mighty, the Everlasting, the All-Powerful, leaped swiftly from the stage and ascended to the top of Kansa. The fall of the two thus caused the earth to plummet a little, and the whole earth trembled like a plate for three hours. The lives of the Kansaks were taken away. As the lion dragged Gajraj lying on the ground, they started dragging Kansa's body. The kings were filled with consternation. People were like, 'Oh no! How miraculous it is that Kansa, who remembers with enmity, is also received by the likeness of that Lord, just as the worm turns into a beetle. 8-15 | (Shribalabhadrakhand chapter 7 to 13)

Seeing Kansa's death, his younger brothers rushed to the spot with shields and swords. Balabhadra's gaze fell on him and he raised his mug and struck from all sides, knocking everyone to the ground. Then the cries of the gods were kindled. There were shouts of cheering everywhere. The gods showered them with flowers. Vidyadharis started dancing and chanting hymns to Vidyadhar, Gandharva and Kinnar Bhagavan. Lord Krishna then freed the parents by assuring everyone and handed over the kingdom to Ugrasena. Then on completion of Yajñopavita-samskara, he went to Sandipani Muni and studied all the Vidyas. In the southern form, dead Guruputras were brought and provided, killing Shankhasura. Then they came and settled in Mathura. The Lord sent Udhava there to relieve the agony of Vraja. Then go there yourself and have your darshan of Shri Radha and the Gopis in the Rasmandal. In the rasa, Rībhu liberated the sage, then Mathurama ascended the throne, acting in a manner similar to that of Mathuranaresh. Balaramji also performed auspicious rites at Mathurapuri by slaying Kolasura. Thus thousands of sacred and peculiar pastimes of Lord Krishna and Balarama took place in Mathura. 16-17 |

Thus was completed the seventh chapter in the Srigargasamhita under the Sribalabhadra Khanda, the dialogue of Sripra Vipaka Muni and Duryodhana, titled 'The Description of Shri Rama-Krishna's Mathura-Leela'. 7.
