The Anecdote of Revati

Srimananda said, "Then came the sight of Indra, Yama, Kubera, Agni, Varuna, Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Mercury, Brihaspati, Venus, and Saturn on the young, beautiful Jyotishmati, like hundreds of moons, engaged in penance. Seeing his appearance aroused in them a desire to have him, and they were hypnotized. Then he came to Jyotishmati's ashram and said - 'Sundari! Rambhooru! Thank you For whom are you doing penance? Your condition is not yet fit to be treated. Make your intentions known to us. Hearing this, Jyotishmati said, "May Lord Ananta with a thousand faces be my Lord, that is why I am doing penance." Hearing this of Jyotishmati, the gods Indradi laughed and agreed to speak separately. Among them, Indra was the first to speak. 1-2. (Shribalbhadrakhand chapters 1 to 6)

Indra said, "You are doing penance in vain to make the serpent king your lord." I am the king of the gods. I have performed a hundred Ashvamedha Yajnas and I myself am present before you. You are going to beat me up. 3.

Yamaraja said, "I am Yamaraja who punishes the creatures of the entire universe. Thou shalt marry me, and be my best wife in the world of fathers. 4.

Kubera said, "O Varana! I am the owner of all the wealth. Thou shalt regard me as a prince, and shalt quickly make me a husband, leaving behind a love of concubinage. 5.

The fire god said, "Great! I am the manifestation of all the gods enshrined in all the sacrifices. Give up your lust for everyone else and fear Me. 6.

Varun said, "Bhamini! I am the owner and ombudsman of aquaculture. There is always a thread in my hand. The splendor of the seven seas is my own splendor. Realizing this, you call me your husband. 7.

The sun god said, "O Sakshashatmaja! I am the eye of the world. My fiery rays pervade the earth. Therefore, renounce the eternity that dwells in the netherworld, and make me a jewel in the heavens. 8.

The moon said, "I am the lord of the potions, the king of the constellations, the mine of nectar, and the brahmana supreme, and the giver of strength to the wicked." O Gajagamini. Mayst thou worship me. 9 | (Shribalbhadrakhand chapter 1 to 6)

Mangal said, "This earth is my mother and the true God is my father." My name is Mangal. O Kalyani! Mayst thou make me thy husband, desiring the abundant welfare of the world. 10.

Budha said - I am Budha, the one who increases the interest of the wise, the knight, and the lustful. May you all experience bliss with me by renouncing the gods. 11.

Brihaspati said - I am the acharya of the gods, the wise, the master of speech, directly Brihaspati. Oh, my goodness. Knowing this, worship Me. 12.

Shukra said - I am the guru of the daityas, the direct poet born in the lineage of Bhrigu. The great oracle Mayst thou be my sister-in-law, thinking of thy welfare. 13.

Shani said, "Kalyani! I am the strongest of the lot. I also have an influence on the gods. I have the power to burn the whole world to ashes with my own eyes. So give up all your worries and make me your husband. 14.

Lord Mahananta said, "Hearing all this, Jyotishmati's eyes turned red, her lips trembled, and her eyebrows twisted." A fire of rage broke out. Then she remembered me and became very angry. The entire universe, from the Brahmaloka to the underworld and the earth, trembled with the wrath of Jyotishmati. There was an overwhelming sense of dread. 15-16 |

Seeing this, trembling with fear of the curse, the gods like Indra took the puja materials from all directions and fell on the lotus feet of Jyotishmati and said, "Save! Save it! Oh! 'They started shouting. Jyotishmati also cursed the gods Indradi separately for attempting to pacify them in this way. 17.

Lord Mahananda spoke - then Indra became angry among the gods after receiving curses from Jyotishmati and Indra also cursed Jyotishmati - 'O Wrathful One! Even by receiving Sankarshana as a husband, there will be no Putra Utsav in this birth or the second life or ever in your house. "Indra was greatly despised by the brilliance of astrology. Saying this, he traveled to heaven with all the gods. Jyotishmati then went into penance. 24.

Subsequently, the eyes of Brahma, who was the cause of the whole world, turned to the brightness of Jyotishmati, and he arrived there from his palace on a swan, accompanied by Brahmoists, Brahmins, and other powers. Brahma, who was in the sky, addressed her and said, 'Jyotishmati, daughter of Manu, the seer. Your penance has been successful. In this penance you have been perfected. I am extremely happy for you. Ask for the bridegroom. " 25-26 |

Subsequently, Jyotishmati was born in the land of Anarta to the wife of King Raivata of Kushasthali. She was named Revathy at the time. Decorated with form, virtue, and generosity, Revati, with new lotus-like eyes, became worthy of marriage. 31.

One day, King Revata was sitting with his wife in Antara Puram. He said to the maiden, "Tell me what kind of groom you want." When Revati heard this, she said at the same time, "May the Mighty One be my husband." 32.

Hearing this, King Raivata took Kanya, accompanied by his brother-in-law, on a chariot to Brahmaloka, passing through all the people, in search of a long-lived and strong Varaka. Stayed there for the whole hour. By this time, the twenty-seven quadrennial periods of the earth were complete. The Mahananta said to Nagalakshmi, "Rambhoru! That Revati is still in Brahmaloka. You enter his body and become a passionate woman. Then go to Dwarakam and have fun with me. " 33-34 | (Shribalbhadrakhand chapters 1 to 6)

The sage Pradvipaka said, "Nagalakshmi, on hearing these words of Mahananta, took the command of her lord, Lord Sankarshana, and went to Brahmaloka and appeared in the form of Revati." 35.

Kouravendra Duryodhana! Subsequently, Lord Sankarshana descended to earth from Sarvalokanamskrit Golokdham to take away the weight of the earth. This is the account of the arrival of Lord Balabhadra. I have told you this. It is the destroyer of all sins and the supreme benevolence. The Crown Prince. What do you want to hear next? . 36.

Thus was completed the fourth chapter, Revati-Upakhyan, in the dialogue of Sri Pravipaka Muni and Duryodhana under the Sribalabhadra Khanda in the Srigarghasamhita. 4.
