The War of the Gajas and the Grahakas and their Salvation by Lord Vishnu
Naradji says - Rajan! Both of Kubera's ministers were deeply moved by the Brahmin's curse. The yajna was performed directly by Lord Vishnu. He spoke to the two ministers who had come to his refuge. 1.
The Lord said, "You have both suffered in this sacrifice of my worship." I have no power to overrule or otherwise do what the Brahmins say. May you both become grahams and elephants. Whenever war breaks out between the two of you, you will both be restored to your former forms by My grace. 2-3.
Naradji says - Rajan! Upon hearing this from Lord Vishnu, the two ministers of King Kubera became grahas and elephants, but they kept reminding themselves of their past lives. Ghantanad died out and lived in Gomti for hundreds of years. He was very ferocious, very fierce, and always wore a fiery appearance. A four-toothed elephant was born in the forest of Parshvamuli Raivatak mountain. The colour of her body was black like that of kajal. The height of its back was equal to a hundred bows. In the vast forest of Raivatak surrounded by trees of vanjul, kurab, kund, badar, cane, bamboo, banana, Bhoj leaf, Kachnar, Bijaysar, Arjun, Mandar, Bakayan, Ashoka, Banyan, Mango, Champa, Sandalwood, Jackfruit, Gular, Peepal, Date, Bijaura Lemon, Chironji, Amda, Amra and Kramuk (Pookyphall), he used to visit Mahagraj. 4-9 | (Dwarkand Chapter 11 to 15)
Once upon a time in the month of Vaishakh, he came out of the Gajraj mountain range to bathe in the Gomti-Ganga with his followers. After bathing in the water for a very long time, the Gajaraja washed all the small children of the elephants with his own water. That great and mighty Graha was also present in the same waters by divine inspiration. Filled with divine inspiration and fury, he grabbed one of Gajraj's legs. He dragged Balnamatta Gajaraja into his house. Then the elephant also pulled him out and burnt him. Then he pulled the elephant again. The elephants and their children were unable to rescue the elephant king from the danger. Fifty-five years passed between the two of them, thus fighting and dragging each other down. The event was happening in front of the eyes of the good men. Thus, suffering and succumbing to the cycle of time, the great Gajaraja, remembering the things of his previous life, took refuge at the feet of Srihari with the devotion of Premalakshina and contemplated them. 10-16 |
Gajendra said, "O Lord Krishna! O Krishna (Arjuna) 's Companion and O Vishnudeva, the dark-bodied God! Mayst thou receive my salutations to Shri Krishna. O full Lord! O Most Gracious Lord! Oh my God! Protect me from the trap of sin, protect me. 17.
Naradji says - Rajan! Thus, remembering the elephant whose leg Grahan had captured, Dinwatsal Shrihari ran with great speed on Garuda. He got down from the Garuda himself and ran the Grahapar Chakra. Before Chakra could reach there, the customer's wonderful head was severed from his torso, as if the money had gone as soon as Dinatake received it. After this, he fell into the Gomatike-Kund of Chakra making a great sound. He marked all the rock groups there with a circle. The benevolent 'Chakratirtha' appeared there through his regular rubbing. The king! The sight of that Chakratirtha avoids the killing of Brahma. With his head cut off, Grahan assumed his former form and, by the grace of Krishna, became the divine form of the elephant. 18-22 | (Dwarkand Chapter 11 to 15)
Then the two Kubera ministers went back to their respective places with folded hands after performing Srihariki Parikrama, Namaskara, and Applause. The gods and goddesses began to shower flowers and cheer. The Lord went to his direct abode, which was beyond nature. The one who hears this story of Narashrestha Chakratirtha reaps the rewards of performing Shraana at Chakratirtha - there is no doubt about it. The focused Gaj and the client listen to this virtuous story, their bad dreams are destroyed and they surely show them the good dreams. 23-26 |
Thus was completed the eleventh chapter in the context of the origin of Chakratirtha in the Narada Bahulashva-Samvad under Dwarka Khanda in the Srigargha Samhita, titled 'Salvation from the Curses of the Elephant and the Client'. 11.
