English translation
Ritwijon's varna-pujan; Shyamakarna bringing and archana of Ashvaka; Dakshinadaan to Brahmins; Gargaji's mention of Ugrasena's valor on a gold sheet bound in Ashvaka's Bhaldesh and Aniruddha's order for Ashvaki's protection.
King Ugrasena, inspired by Vasudeva at the subsequent Sudharma-sabha, is said to have pleased the entourage by bowing his head and greeting them formally, states Shri Gargaji. Parashara, Vyasa, Deval, Chyavana, Asita, Shatananda, Galava, Yajnavalkya, Brihaspati, Agastya, Vamadeva, Maitreya, Lushma, Kavi (Shukracharya), Main (Garga), Kratu, Jaimini, Vaishampayana, Pail, Sumantu, Kanva, Bhrigu, Parashurama, Akratavrana, Madhuchanda, Vetihotra, Kavasha, Dhaumya, Asuri, Jabali, Veerasena, Pulastya, Pulah, Durvasa, Marichi, Ekata, Dwit, Trita, Angira, Narada, Parvata, Kapilamuni, Jatukarnya, Utthya, Samvarta, Rishyashringa, Shandilya, Pradvip. Adi Ritwijanka was worshipped by the Yadavaraja Ugrasena. O Lord! All the invited guests were very happy and spoke to the king. 1-11 |
The sages said, "Dev-Davan-Vandit Maharaj Ugrasena! You start the yajna. By the grace of Lord Krishna, he will surely be complete. 12.
Hearing these words of the sages, the entire senses of King Ugrasena, the lord of the Andhakula, were satisfied. They collected all the materials for the sacrifice. The Brahmins then lit the sacrificial ground with golden ploughs and ceremoniously initiated the king into the sacrifice near the Pindaraka Tirtha. The king acquired large tracts of land measuring up to four yojanas and built a Yajna mandapa there. He built a central chamber with a vagina and a ring and ceremoniously installed a bonfire in it. Vajranabha! At my request, King Ugrasena built a hall adorned with many jewels and adorned with flagpoles. Seeing the assembly hall, Krishna said to his son. 13-17 | (Ashwamedh Khand Chapter 11 to 15)
Hearing this order, Sriharika says that Pradyumna, the best of the archers, went to Ghodasala to fetch a horse, saying, "Very good." O Lord! Subsequently, Krishna sent his sons Bhanu and Samba to the stables to protect the horse. Going to the stables, the mighty Rukmininandan Pradyumra saw thousands of black horses tied in gold chains and spontaneously freed one of them, a sacrificial horse, with a smile on his hand. The horse slowly came out of the stables as it broke free from the bondage. His face was red, his tail was yellow, and his ears were black. The divine horse, adorned with garlands of pearls, looked very graceful. He was clad in a white umbrella and adorned with leather. The sons of Sriharika, present before, behind, and in the midst of him, served that divine king in the same manner as all the gods Srihariki. Protected from the other mandaleshwaras too, he came to the sabha mandap, digging the horse floor from his tops. The king! King Ugrasena was pleased to see Shyamakarna's horse come there and sent me to perform the necessary rituals. Then I made Maharaja Ugrasena, along with Queen Ruchimati, sit on the right posture and perform all the rituals at the Pindaraka Tirtha. King Ugrasena was initiated into the yajna on the full moon day of the month of Chaitra, wearing the skin of a deer. The king! He took the rule of 'Asipatra-Vrata' at my command. O Lord! I being the former guru of the Yadavendra clan was made the acharya of all Brahmins in that yajna. 19-30 |
Then all the Brahmins, by the command of Lord Krishna, sat on their seats reciting the Veda mantras. They all worshipped different gods and goddesses like Ganesha. The king! Then all the sages established the Ashvaki and offered saffron, sandalwood, garlands of flowers, and rice to it, offering incense. Sudha-Kundalika performed the Adika Naivedya and inspired the king to donate the Ashwaki by ritually worshipping it through the Aarti Adi. Hearing of his order, Ugrasena quickly donated the money to me first. One hundred thousand horses, one thousand elephants, two thousand chariots, one hundred thousand milch cows, and a hundred loads of gold - this dakshina was given to me by the king. The king! Then listen to the narration of the scriptural dakshina given by Maharaja Ugrasena to the invited Brahmins. Each was given a thousand horses, two hundred elephants, two hundred chariots, and twenty loads of gold. After saluting the uninvited Brahmins who had come, the king ceremoniously gave an elephant, a chariot, a cow, a load of gold, and a horse - so much dakshina for each Brahmin. 31-39 |
Thus, by making a donation, the king tied a gold leaf on the forehead of the horse, which looked very attractive due to kumkum, etc. On that letter, I mentioned in front of all the Yadavas in the assembly hall the increased strength and glory of Maharaja Ugrasena as follows. 40-41 | (Ashwamedh Khand Chapter 11 to 15)
"King Ugrasena is seated in Yadukula under the Chandravamsa, whose order is followed by the gods Indra and Adi. Lord Krishna, the protector of devotees, is his assistant, and bound by his devotion, he resides in Srihari Sada Dwarkapuri. At his behest, Chakravarti Rajadhiraja Ugrasena suddenly performs the Ashwamedha Yajna ritual to expand his fame. He is the one who left behind the best sign among the horses - the wealthy dark horse. The protector of this horse is Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna, who killed the demon 'Vrika'. They are accompanied by cunning armies of elephants, horses, chariots, and foot-soldiers. May the kings who rule on this earth and consider themselves knights stop this gold-plated equestrian horse by their own strength. Dharmatma Aniruddha, with his might and might, willingly and spontaneously rescue this horse captured by the kings. May the archer kings who could not catch this horse bow down at Aniruddha's feet and return safely. " 42-48 |
When it was thus written on the gold plate, the best Yaduvanshi heroes blew the conch shells. Rhythms like Jhanjh, Mridangam, Nagade and Gomukh were played. The Gandharvas sang the auspicious characters of Lord Krishna and Baldev, and the apsaras also danced there in bliss. Lord Krishna was then very pleased and ordered Pradyumna Kumar Aniruddha, who was standing there in front of the Yadava king Ugrasena, to take full care of the sacrificial horse. 49-51 |
Thus was completed the eleventh chapter called 'Ashvaka Pujan' in the Ashvamedha Charitra Sumerum under the Srigarghasamhita. 11.
