दशमो’ध्यायः श्री-व्यास उवाच— चैत्रे कृत्वैतन् मासि कर्माच्छ-पक्षे पुण्य-र्क्षे भूयो देशिकात् प्राप्य दीक्षाम् । तेनानुज्ञातः पूर्व-सेवाꣳ द्वितीये मासि द्वादश्याम् आरभेतामलायाम् ॥१॥ कृत्वा स्नानाद्यꣳ कर्म देहार्चनान्तꣳ वर्त्माश्रित्य प्राग् ईरितꣳ मन्त्रि-मुख्यः । शुद्धो मौनी सन् ब्रह्मचारी निशाशी जप्याच् छान्तात्मा शुद्ध-पद्माक्ष-दाम्ना ॥२॥ तन्वन् शुश्रूषाꣳ गोषु ताभ्यः प्रयच्छन् ग्रासꣳ भूतेषु प्रोद्वहश् चानुकम्पाम् । मन्त्राधिष्ठात्रिꣳ देवताꣳ वन्दमानो दुर्गाꣳ दुबोध-ध्वान्त-भानुꣳ गुरुꣳ च ॥३॥ कुर्वन्न् आत्मीयꣳ कर्म वर्णाश्रम-स्थꣳ मन्त्रꣳ जप्त्वा त्रिः स्नान-काले’भिषिञ्चेत् । आचामन् पाथस्-तत्त्व-सङ्ख्या-प्रजप्तꣳ भुञ्जानश् चान्नꣳ सप्त-जप्ताञ्चनादि ॥४॥ अद्रेः शृङ्गे नद्यास् तटे बिल्व-मूले तोये हृदघ्ने गोकुल-विष्णु-गेहे । अश्वत्थाधस्ताद् अम्बुधेश् चापि तीरे स्थानेष्व् एतेष्व् आसीन एकैकशस् तु ॥५॥ प्रजपेद् युत-चतुष्कꣳ दशाक्षरꣳ मनु-वरꣳ पृथक् क्रमशः । अष्टादशाक्षरꣳ चेद् अयुत-द्वयम् इत्य् उदीरिता सङ्ख्या ॥६॥ शाकꣳ मूलꣳ फलꣳ गो-स्तन-भव-दधिनी भैक्षम् अन्नꣳ च सक्तुꣳ दुग्धान्नꣳ चेत्य् अदानः क्षिति-धर-शिखरादौ क्रमात् स्थान-भेदे । एकꣳ चैषाम् अशक्तौ गदितम् इह मया पूर्वासेवा-विधानꣳ निर्वृत्ते’स्मिन् पुनश् च प्रजपतु विधिवत् सिद्धये साधकेशः ॥७॥ देहार्चनान्ते दिनशो दिनादौ दीक्षोक्त-मार्गान्यतरꣳ विधानम् । आश्रित्य कृष्णꣳ प्रयजेद् विविक्ते गेहे निषण्णो हुत-शिष्ट-भोजी ॥८॥ दश-लक्षम् अक्षय-फल-प्रदꣳ मनुꣳ प्रतिजप्य शिक्षित-मतिर् दशाक्षरम् । जुहुयाद् गुडाज्य-मधु-सम्प्लुतैर् नवैर् अरुणाम्बुजैर् हुतवहे दशायुतम् ॥९॥ शुषिर-युगल-वर्णꣳ चेन् मनुꣳ पञ्च-लक्षꣳ प्रजपतु जुहुयाच् च प्रोक्त-कॢप्त्यार्ध-लक्षम् । अमल-मतिर् अलाभे पायसैर् अम्बुजानाꣳ सहित-घृत-सितैर् एवारभेद् धोम-कर्म ॥१०॥ असक्तानाꣳ होमे निगम-रसनागेन्द्र-गुणितो जपः कार्यश् चेति दिव्ज-नृप-विशाम् आहुर् अपरे । सहोमश् चेद् एषाꣳ सम इह जपो होम-रहितो य उक्तो वर्णानाꣳ स खलु विहितस् तच्-चल-दृशाम् ॥११॥ यꣳ वर्णम् आश्रितो यः शूद्रः स च तन्-नत-भ्रुवाम् । विदधीत जपꣳ विधिवच् छ्रद्धावान् भक्ति-भरावनम्र-तनुः ॥१२॥ पुनर् अभिषिक्तो गुरुणा विधिवद् विश्राण्य दक्षिणाꣳ तस्मै । अभ्यवहार्य च विप्रान् विभवैः सम्प्रीणयेच् च भक्ति-युतः ॥१३॥ इति मन्त्र-वर-द्वितयान्यतरꣳ परिसाध्य जपादिभिर् अच्युत-धीः । प्रजपेत् सवन-त्रितये दिनशो विधिनाथ मुकुन्दम् अमन्द-मतिः ॥१४॥ अथ श्रीमद्-उद्यान-सꣳवीत-हैम- स्थलोद्भासि-रत्न-स्फुरन्-मण्डपान्तः । लसत्-कल्प-वृक्षाध उद्दीप्त-रत्न- स्थली-धिष्ठिताम्भोज-पीठाधिरूढम् ॥१५॥ महा-नील-नीलाभम् अत्यन्त-बालꣳ गुड-स्निग्ध-वक्त्रान्त-विस्रस्त-केशम् । अलि-व्रात-पर्याकुलोत्फुल्ल-पद्म- प्रमुग्धाननꣳ श्रीमद् इन्दीवराक्षम् ॥१६॥ (षेए नारद-पुराण १.८०.७७फ़्फ़्) चलत्-कुण्डलोल्लासि-सम्फुल्ल-गण्डꣳ सुघोणꣳ सुशोणाधरꣳ सुस्मितास्यम् । अनेकाश्मरश्म्य्-उल्लसत्-कण्ठ-भूषा- लसन्तꣳ वहन्तꣳ नखꣳ पौण्डरीकम् ॥१७॥ समुद्धूसरोरः-स्थलꣳ धेनु-धूल्याः सुपुष्टाङ्गम् अष्टापदाकल्प-दीप्तम् । कटीर-स्थले चारु-जङ्घान्त-युग्मे पिनद्धꣳ क्वणत्-किङ्किणी-जाल-दाम्ना ॥१८॥ हसन्तꣳ हसद्-बन्धु-जीव-प्रसून- प्रभाꣳ पाणि-पादाम्बुजोदार-कान्त्या । करे दक्षिणे पायसꣳ वाम-हस्ते दधानꣳ नवꣳ शुद्ध-हैयङ्गवीनम् ॥१९॥ महीभार-भूताम् अराराति-यूथान् अनः-पूतनादीन् निहन्तुꣳ प्रवृत्तम् । प्रभुꣳ गोपिका-गोप-गो-वृन्द-वीतꣳ सुरेन्द्रादिभिर् वन्दितꣳ देव-वृन्दैः ॥२०॥ प्रगे पूजयित्वेत्त्यनुस्मृत्य कृष्णꣳ तद्-अङ्गेन्द्र-वज्रादिकैर् भक्ति-नम्रः । सिता-मोच-हैयङ्गवीनैश् च दध्ना विमिश्रेण दौग्धेन सम्प्रीणयेत् तम् ॥२१॥ इति श्री-नारद-पञ्चरात्रे ज्ञानामृत-सारे तृतीय-रात्रे दशमो’ध्यायः ॥१०॥ …

daśamo’dhyāyaḥ śrī-vyāsa uvāca— caitre kṛtvaitan māsi karmāccha-pakṣe puṇya-rkṣe bhūyo deśikāt prāpya dīkṣām | tenānujñātaḥ pūrva-sevāṁ dvitīye māsi dvādaśyām ārabhetāmalāyām ||1|| kṛtvā snānādyaṁ karma dehārcanāntaṁ vartmāśritya prāg īritaṁ mantri-mukhyaḥ | śuddho maunī san brahmacārī niśāśī japyāc chāntātmā śuddha-padmākṣa-dāmnā ||2|| tanvan śuśrūṣāṁ goṣu tābhyaḥ prayacchan grāsaṁ bhūteṣu prodvahaś cānukampām | mantrādhiṣṭhātriṁ devatāṁ vandamāno durgāṁ dubodha-dhvānta-bhānuṁ guruṁ ca ||3|| kurvann ātmīyaṁ karma varṇāśrama-sthaṁ mantraṁ japtvā triḥ snāna-kāle’bhiṣiñcet | ācāman pāthas-tattva-saṅkhyā-prajaptaṁ bhuñjānaś cānnaṁ sapta-japtāñcanādi ||4|| adreḥ śṛṅge nadyās taṭe bilva-mūle toye hṛdaghne gokula-viṣṇu-gehe | aśvatthādhastād ambudheś cāpi tīre sthāneṣv eteṣv āsīna ekaikaśas tu ||5|| prajaped yuta-catuṣkaṁ daśākṣaraṁ manu-varaṁ pṛthak kramaśaḥ | aṣṭādaśākṣaraṁ ced ayuta-dvayam ity udīritā saṅkhyā ||6|| śākaṁ mūlaṁ phalaṁ go-stana-bhava-dadhinī bhaikṣam annaṁ ca saktuṁ dugdhānnaṁ cety adānaḥ kṣiti-dhara-śikharādau kramāt sthāna-bhede | ekaṁ caiṣām aśaktau gaditam iha mayā pūrvāsevā-vidhānaṁ nirvṛtte’smin punaś ca prajapatu vidhivat siddhaye sādhakeśaḥ ||7|| dehārcanānte dinaśo dinādau dīkṣokta-mārgānyataraṁ vidhānam | āśritya kṛṣṇaṁ prayajed vivikte gehe niṣaṇṇo huta-śiṣṭa-bhojī ||8|| daśa-lakṣam akṣaya-phala-pradaṁ manuṁ pratijapya śikṣita-matir daśākṣaram | juhuyād guḍājya-madhu-samplutair navair aruṇāmbujair hutavahe daśāyutam ||9|| śuṣira-yugala-varṇaṁ cen manuṁ pañca-lakṣaṁ prajapatu juhuyāc ca prokta-kḷptyārdha-lakṣam | amala-matir alābhe pāyasair ambujānāṁ sahita-ghṛta-sitair evārabhed dhoma-karma ||10|| asaktānāṁ home nigama-rasanāgendra-guṇito japaḥ kāryaś ceti divja-nṛpa-viśām āhur apare | sahomaś ced eṣāṁ sama iha japo homa-rahito ya ukto varṇānāṁ sa khalu vihitas tac-cala-dṛśām ||11|| yaṁ varṇam āśrito yaḥ śūdraḥ sa ca tan-nata-bhruvām | vidadhīta japaṁ vidhivac chraddhāvān bhakti-bharāvanamra-tanuḥ ||12|| punar abhiṣikto guruṇā vidhivad viśrāṇya dakṣiṇāṁ tasmai | abhyavahārya ca viprān vibhavaiḥ samprīṇayec ca bhakti-yutaḥ ||13|| iti mantra-vara-dvitayānyataraṁ parisādhya japādibhir acyuta-dhīḥ | prajapet savana-tritaye dinaśo vidhinātha mukundam amanda-matiḥ ||14|| atha śrīmad-udyāna-saṁvīta-haima- sthalodbhāsi-ratna-sphuran-maṇḍapāntaḥ | lasat-kalpa-vṛkṣādha uddīpta-ratna- sthalī-dhiṣṭhitāmbhoja-pīṭhādhirūḍham ||15|| mahā-nīla-nīlābham atyanta-bālaṁ guḍa-snigdha-vaktrānta-visrasta-keśam | ali-vrāta-paryākulotphulla-padma- pramugdhānanaṁ śrīmad indīvarākṣam ||16|| (ṣee nārada-purāṇa 1.80.77ff) calat-kuṇḍalollāsi-samphulla-gaṇḍaṁ sughoṇaṁ suśoṇādharaṁ susmitāsyam | anekāśmaraśmy-ullasat-kaṇṭha-bhūṣā- lasantaṁ vahantaṁ nakhaṁ pauṇḍarīkam ||17|| samuddhūsaroraḥ-sthalaṁ dhenu-dhūlyāḥ supuṣṭāṅgam aṣṭāpadākalpa-dīptam | kaṭīra-sthale cāru-jaṅghānta-yugme pinaddhaṁ kvaṇat-kiṅkiṇī-jāla-dāmnā ||18|| hasantaṁ hasad-bandhu-jīva-prasūna- prabhāṁ pāṇi-pādāmbujodāra-kāntyā | kare dakṣiṇe pāyasaṁ vāma-haste dadhānaṁ navaṁ śuddha-haiyaṅgavīnam ||19|| mahībhāra-bhūtām arārāti-yūthān anaḥ-pūtanādīn nihantuṁ pravṛttam | prabhuṁ gopikā-gopa-go-vṛnda-vītaṁ surendrādibhir vanditaṁ deva-vṛndaiḥ ||20|| prage pūjayitvettyanusmṛtya kṛṣṇaṁ tad-aṅgendra-vajrādikair bhakti-namraḥ | sitā-moca-haiyaṅgavīnaiś ca dadhnā vimiśreṇa daugdhena samprīṇayet tam ||21|| iti śrī-nārada-pañcarātre jñānāmṛta-sāre tṛtīya-rātre daśamo’dhyāyaḥ ||10|| …

CHAPTER X

OFFERING ONE’S SERVICE TO SRI KRSNA AS BEFORE, WHILE INITIATED

saka, roots, fruits, milk, curd and eatable things and rice and Sakti (powdered and field flour) and milk boiféd with rice and sugar. As to drinking power I advised before once in the afore described service. When this is done, the best devotee should again duly mutter japam to attain success (siddhi), (7)

One should daily cleanse one’s body in the morning ; accepting, then, the second method of initiation, one should worship Sri Krsna in a solitary room, full of devotion, and then eat the remainder of Havan ie., what is duly offered to Fire in Homa ceremony. (8)

The pure minded devotee should offer one lakh bomas, repeating every time the ten lettered mantra ; this is sure to yield imperishable results. (9)

Make japam five lakh times of the eighteen lettered mantra and then make homa 50 (fifty) thousand times. If the devotee be not able to precure payasa (materials rice milk sugar. etc., for payasa) he should perform with homa ghee (clarified butter). (10)

If one be unable to perform homa ceremony according to the above mentioned numbers, he can make japam twelve times. The japam and homa may be as many times as are found in the letters of the mantra. So it is stated. (11)

The Sidra who will make japam according to whichever ° letters of the mantra, suited to him, he will get success in that, if he performs his function, merely with faith and devotion. (12)

The devotee on being inaugurated again by his guru should

give daksina (fees) to him and distribute wealth to the Brahmanas with devotion. (13)

etc., the clear minded devotee of pure character should for three days consecutively worship duly §ri Krsna, who is the giver of mukti (freedom from birth and death). (14)

on the padma-pitha (lotus pedestal), emitting lustre of gold and gems, and like the Kalpa vrksa and surrounded by dazzling Ratna sthala (place full of gems). He is of a blue colour, child like, having hairs a little curling on his head, his face like half blewn lotus and with enchanting lotus eyes. (15-16)

On His cheek locks of hair are waving and look beautiful. His nose is lovely ; His face is like lotus, and smiling. On His neck and breast matiy gems and pearls are shining and his nails look like lotuses. (17)

His breast is being illuminated by the musical sound of His flute; His body is decorated with various ornaments. On His waist and shanks the garland of little tinkling bells is hanging. (18)

His gentle and sweet smile is like Bandhali flowers. His hands and feet look very bzautiful ; with His right hand He is holding @ vessel of ny sa (milk boiled with rice and sugar) and His left hand is holding fresh butter. (19)

He is incarnated to take away the burden of the world and to destroy Putana etc., the enemies of the Gods. He is surrounded praised by

by Gopas (milkmen) and Gopis (milkwomen) and He is Indra and other Gods. (20)

The devotee is to worship Sri Krsna with great devotion by means of fresh butter and curds, and mil sugar and praise Him in Indravajra verses. | Thus remember Him and incur His pleasure. (21)
