चतुर्थोऽध्यायः श्रीकृष्णस्तोत्रम् श्री महादेव उवाच— शृणु देवि प्रवक्ष्यामि स्तोत्रꣳ परमदुर्लभम् । यज्ज्ञात्वा न पुनर्गच्छेन्नरो निरययातनाम् ॥१॥ कवचꣳ च महेशानि त्रैलोक्यमङ्गलादिकम् । नारदाय च यत्प्रोक्तꣳ ब्रह्मपुत्रेण धीमता । सनत्कुमारेण पुरा योगीन्द्रगुरुवर्त्मना ॥२॥ श्रीनारद उवाच— प्रसीद भगवन् मह्यमज्ञानात्कुण्ठितात्मने । तवाङ्घ्रिपङ्कजरजोरागिणीꣳ भक्तिमुत्तमाम् ॥३॥ अज प्रसीद भगवन्नमितद्युतिपञ्जर । अप्रमेय प्रसीदास्मद्दुःखहन् पुरुषोत्तम ॥४॥ स्वसꣳवेद्य प्रसीदास्मदानन्दात्मन्ननामय । अचिन्त्यसार विश्वात्मन् प्रसीद परमेश्वर ॥५॥ प्रसीद तुङ्ग तुङ्गानाꣳ प्रसीद शिव शोभन । प्रसीद गुणगम्भीर गम्भीराणाꣳ महाद्युते ॥६॥ प्रसीद व्यक्त विस्तीर्ण विस्तीर्णनामगोचर । प्रसीदार्द्रार्द्रजातीनाꣳ प्रसीदान्तान्तदायिनाम् ॥७॥ गुरोर्गरीयः सर्वेश प्रसीदानन्त देहिनाम् । जय माधव मायात्मन् जय शाश्वत शङ्खभृत् ॥८॥ जय शङ्खधर श्रीमन् जय नन्दकनन्दन । जय चक्रगदापाणे जय देव जनार्दन ॥९॥ जय रत्नवराबद्धकिरीटाक्रान्तमस्तक । जय पक्षिपतिच्छायानिरुद्धार्ककरारुण ॥१०॥ नमस्ते नरकाराते नमस्ते मधुसूदन । नमस्ते ललितापाङ्ग नमस्ते नरकान्तक ॥११॥ नमः पापहरेशान नमः सर्वभयापह । नमः सम्भूतसर्वात्मन् नमः सम्भृतकौस्तुभ ॥१२॥ नमस्ते नयनातीत नमस्ते भयहारक । नमो विभिन्नवेषाय नमः श्रुतिपथातिग ॥१३॥ नमस्त्रिमूर्तिभेटेन स्वर्गस्थित्यन्तहेतवे । विष्णवे त्रिदशारातिजिष्णवे परमात्मने ॥१४॥ चक्रभिन्नारिचक्राय चक्रिणे चक्रवल्लभ । विश्वाय विश्ववन्द्याय विश्वभूतानुवर्तिने ॥१५॥ नमोऽस्तु योगिध्येयात्मन्नमोऽस्त्वध्यात्मरूपिणे । भक्तिप्रदाय भक्तानाꣳ नमस्ते भक्तिदायिने ॥१६॥ पूजनꣳ हवनꣳ चेज्या ध्यानꣳ पश्चान्नमस्क्रिया । देवेश कर्म सर्वꣳ मे भवेदाराधनꣳ तव ॥१७॥ इति हवनजपार्चाभेदतो विष्णुपूजा नियतहृदयकर्मा यस्तु मन्त्री चिराय । स खलु सकलकामान् प्राप्य कृष्णान्तरात्मा अननमृतिविमुक्तामुत्तमाꣳ भक्तिमेति ॥१८॥ गोगोपगोपिकावीतꣳ गोपालꣳ गोषु गोप्रदम् । गोपैरीड्यꣳ गोसहस्रैर्नौमि गोकुलनायकम् ॥१९॥ प्रीणयेदनया स्तुत्या जगन्नाथꣳ जगन्मयम् । धर्मार्थकाममोक्षाणामाप्तये पुरुषोत्तमम् ॥२०॥ इति श्रीनारदपञ्चरात्रे ज्ञानामृतारे चतुर्थरात्रे श्रीकृष्णस्तोत्रꣳ चतुर्थोऽध्यायः ॥४॥ …

caturtho'dhyāyaḥ śrīkṛṣṇastotram śrī mahādeva uvāca— śṛṇu devi pravakṣyāmi stotraṁ paramadurlabham | yajjñātvā na punargacchennaro nirayayātanām ||1|| kavacaṁ ca maheśāni trailokyamaṅgalādikam | nāradāya ca yatproktaṁ brahmaputreṇa dhīmatā | sanatkumāreṇa purā yogīndraguruvartmanā ||2|| śrīnārada uvāca— prasīda bhagavan mahyamajñānātkuṇṭhitātmane | tavāṅghripaṅkajarajorāgiṇīṁ bhaktimuttamām ||3|| aja prasīda bhagavannamitadyutipañjara | aprameya prasīdāsmadduḥkhahan puruṣottama ||4|| svasaṁvedya prasīdāsmadānandātmannanāmaya | acintyasāra viśvātman prasīda parameśvara ||5|| prasīda tuṅga tuṅgānāṁ prasīda śiva śobhana | prasīda guṇagambhīra gambhīrāṇāṁ mahādyute ||6|| prasīda vyakta vistīrṇa vistīrṇanāmagocara | prasīdārdrārdrajātīnāṁ prasīdāntāntadāyinām ||7|| gurorgarīyaḥ sarveśa prasīdānanta dehinām | jaya mādhava māyātman jaya śāśvata śaṅkhabhṛt ||8|| jaya śaṅkhadhara śrīman jaya nandakanandana | jaya cakragadāpāṇe jaya deva janārdana ||9|| jaya ratnavarābaddhakirīṭākrāntamastaka | jaya pakṣipaticchāyāniruddhārkakarāruṇa ||10|| namaste narakārāte namaste madhusūdana | namaste lalitāpāṅga namaste narakāntaka ||11|| namaḥ pāpahareśāna namaḥ sarvabhayāpaha | namaḥ sambhūtasarvātman namaḥ sambhṛtakaustubha ||12|| namaste nayanātīta namaste bhayahāraka | namo vibhinnaveṣāya namaḥ śrutipathātiga ||13|| namastrimūrtibheṭena svargasthityantahetave | viṣṇave tridaśārātijiṣṇave paramātmane ||14|| cakrabhinnāricakrāya cakriṇe cakravallabha | viśvāya viśvavandyāya viśvabhūtānuvartine ||15|| namo'stu yogidhyeyātmannamo'stvadhyātmarūpiṇe | bhaktipradāya bhaktānāṁ namaste bhaktidāyine ||16|| pūjanaṁ havanaṁ cejyā dhyānaṁ paścānnamaskriyā | deveśa karma sarvaṁ me bhavedārādhanaṁ tava ||17|| iti havanajapārcābhedato viṣṇupūjā niyatahṛdayakarmā yastu mantrī cirāya | sa khalu sakalakāmān prāpya kṛṣṇāntarātmā ananamṛtivimuktāmuttamāṁ bhaktimeti ||18|| gogopagopikāvītaṁ gopālaṁ goṣu gopradam | gopairīḍyaṁ gosahasrairnaumi gokulanāyakam ||19|| prīṇayedanayā stutyā jagannāthaṁ jaganmayam | dharmārthakāmamokṣāṇāmāptaye puruṣottamam ||20|| iti śrīnāradapañcarātre jñānāmṛtāre caturtharātre śrīkṛṣṇastotraṁ caturtho'dhyāyaḥ ||4|| …

English translation

CHAPTER IV ON THE CONVERSATION BETWBEN PARVATI AND SIVA AND ON VISNU STOTRA (HYMN) AND ON KAVACA.

Sri Mahadeva said :- O Devi! I am telling you the highest gstotra, very valuable, and at the same time rare, knowing which

one has not to undergo again the suffering of hell. (1)

O Mahegani! Now [ will tell you the Trailokya mangala Kovacam (the protective mantra that does good to the three worlds) that was spoken to Narada by the intelligent Brahmaputtra, which Sanat Kumara heard in ancient days from his owD Guru, the best of the yogis. (2)

ignorance ; Therefore be pleased and let me have t bhakti, always thinking of Thy lotus feet. (3) O Bhagavan ! O Birthless One! Thy Form is of unequalled

splendour. Beest thou propitions : Thou art immeasurable ; Thou art Purusottama (the Supreme Person) and the Remover of our

afflictions. (4)

O Blissful Self! Thou art free from disease ; 0 i conceive of Thy essence : Thou art the Soul of the Universe ; Thou art the Great God. Beest Taou propitions. (5)

auspicious, teautiful, fraught deeply with all qualification great ornament of those who are grave. Be Thou propitious. (6)

O Thou manifested! Thou art all this exP' beyond this expanse the gentle of the most Destroyer of That which destroys. Be gracious. (7)

Thou art the best of the Gurus, the God of all ; and Thou art the Infinite, residing in this body. Be pleased. O Madhava, whose manifestation is Maya. Eternal Glory upto Thee ! (8)

O Holder of the concell! O Thou, full of prosperity ; Victory to These, O son of Nanda! G Holder of discuss! O Janardana ! let Thee be victorious! (2)

O Holder of crown decked with diadems !_ Let Thou look bright and red and victory attend Thee ! (10)

O Destroyer of Naraka! O Slayer of Madhu! O Thou, of

gentle body and the Remover of hells! I bow down to Thee. (11)

O Thou, the Remover of Sins! The Lord, the Preventer of all fears, the Originator of all souls, the Holder ofthe gem Kaustubha ! obeisance to Thee. (12)

O Thou, beyond this eyesight! Dispeller of fears, beyond what can be heard ; having different garbs ; I bow down, referring to Thee. (13)

Thou art .the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer —the Trinity. Thou conquerets the enemies of the Gods; Thou art Visnu, the Supreme Spirit, | bow down to Thee. (14)

Before Thy cakra (discus), the plans (cakra) of the enemies get trustrated. Thou are cakri and found of cakra (secret Policies) ; Thou art this universe and honoured by the universe ; and Thou followest all these worldly creatures and objects. (15)

Thou art of the form of the Spirit, mediated as the Self by the

Yogis ! ‘hou art the bestower of Bhakti to the devotees, Obeisance to Thee. (16)

O Lord of the Devas! but my worship, homa (offerings to the sacrificial Fire), meditation and bowing down, may all my actions be at Thy feet for Thy service. (17)

Whoever devotee in the sadhana of his mantra, worships Visnu in his heart, while performing homa, Japam and piji, be, keeping Sri Krgna within his heart acquires the fruits of all his desires ; and, becoming free from birth and death, attains the supreme goal and bhakti. (18)

I bow down to said sing hymns in honour of Gopiila who is surrounded by go’s (cows or several worlds), Gopas (herdsmen or

The Fourth Night, Ch, IV 253 leaders of the several worlds), Gopikas (the powers of the several leaders), that Supreme Person for the attainment of Dharma, Kama, and Moksa (final emancipation) and who gives pleasures to the cows i.e. who imparts dharma to the three words and who is adored by the thousand cows and Gopas. (19)

After reading this stotra, one must pray for Dharma, Artha, Kama. and Moksa, the fourfold objects of existence in the world and thus please Sri Krgna, the Lord of the Universe, who pervades

this Universe. (20)
