As a fragment of cloud, riven from the great cloud before it and not having reached the further great cloud, perishes in the middle, just so, does he not perish? How is he fallen from both? 'Without a standing, deluded, on the path of Brahman.' For this man, free of an eye to its fruit, the action that is duly the means to heaven and the rest does not stand as a means to its own fruit, so he is 'without a standing'; and on the path of Brahman that has been begun he is deluded, fallen from that path. So, being fallen from both, does this man simply perish, or does he not perish?
