The men of the three Vedas, the knowers of the Ṛk, the Yajus and the Sāman, worship Me in the form of Indra and the other gods. The soma-drinkers, those who drink the soma, by that very drinking of soma have their sin purified, their taint cleansed; having worshipped with sacrifices, the Agniṣṭoma and the rest, having honoured Me, they pray for the way to heaven, the going to heaven. And they, having reached the world of the lord of the gods, the meritorious one as the fruit of their merit, the station of the hundred-rited Indra, enjoy, partake of, the divine, the heaven-born, the unworldly enjoyments of the gods.

The three knowledges in the form of Rig, Yajus, and Saman are the 'threefold knowledge'; those settled in the threefold knowledge alone are the men of the threefold knowledge. They are not those settled in the end of the threefold knowledge, the Vedanta; for those settled in the Vedanta are the great souls who, in the manner described before, knowing Me alone, who am to be known by the whole Veda, attain Me alone, attainable by Me alone, through the praising and the rest brought about by their exceedingly great devotion to Me, and through the sacrifice of knowledge. But the men of the threefold knowledge, drinking the soma left over from the sacrifice to Indra and the rest alone, who are taught in the Veda, purified of sin, purified of the sin that obstructs the attaining of heaven and the rest, having, by sacrifices dwelt on as having Indra and the rest alone for their deities, in truth worshipped Me whose form those are, but not knowing Me so abiding, pray for the way to heaven. They, having attained the world of the lord of the gods, meritorious, unmixed with pain, there enjoy the divine enjoyments of the gods.

Even so, Krishna shows that the worship of Me is better than the worship of other deities, with 'the knowers of the three Vedas' and so on.
