He, joined with that faith ordained by Me, strives, exerts himself, in the worship, the propitiation, of that form of a deity. And from that worshipped form of a deity he gains the desires, the things wished for, ordained, fashioned by Me alone, the supreme Lord, the all-knowing, who know the apportioning of the fruits of action. Since those desired things were ordained by the Blessed Lord, he gains them without fail. If the word is parsed as 'hitān', then the beneficial character of the desires must be taken as figuratively spoken, for desires are not truly beneficial to anyone.
