Whatever desirer wishes to worship, to honour, whatever form of a deity, being joined with faith and devoted: of that desirer I make firm, I steady, that very faith, unwavering and stable. The form of a deity which, by his very nature, one who has set out earlier wishes to worship with faith.

But those deities too are bodies of Mine, declared by such revealed texts as 'he who, standing in the sun, the sun does not know, whose body the sun is'. Whichever of My bodies, Indra and the rest, a devotee, even without knowing this, wishes to worship with faith, of that man, even unknowing, holding that this faith of his has My body for its object, I myself make that very faith unwavering, free of obstacle.

He means whatever body, in the form of Brahma and the rest. So it is said in the Naradiya, 'for the devotees of Brahma and the rest there is an end; for My devotees, endlessness'. This follows too from the context of the answer to such questions as 'to what goal does the released one go, and of what nature is release?' (Mahabharata 12.334.3) in the Moksha-dharma, and from 'where is a devotee released, when the great Vishnu has made a descent?' and the like in the Brahma-vaivarta.
