I will place peacock feathers upon my head and wear a guñjā necklace at my throat. Wrapping myself in yellow cloth and taking a staff, I will roam the forest with the cows and cowherds. He alone is my beloved, says Rasakhān; at your bidding I will assume all these disguises. But the flute that Muralīdhara has placed upon His lips—I will never place that flute upon mine.

We all know that boy as one of our own; both those dear lives hurry daily to serve everyone. Yet when they see the spectacle from afar, says Rasakhān, they do not come near the daughter of the Sun, Yamunā. Why speak of ordinary days or tell my sorrow to those without love? When true friends arrive, these eyes alone are sovereign. What can I say, companion? They offer empty consolation, but cannot free my forest-garlanded Beloved from dark Kālī’s grasp.

Once all the fair women of Vraja entered Yamunā’s water to bathe. Then mind-enchanting Mohana went, says Rasakhān, took their garments in His hand, and climbed a kadamba tree. When the women emerged from bathing, they looked in every direction, their hearts filled with anger. The darling made them join hands at their breasts in supplication; then, showering nectar-like words, He returned their clothes.
