Based on a series of talks given by Ananta between April to August 2014. “You are always the Awareness itself, and as Awareness you know that all that is appearing in front of you is just an appearance. There is no one here besides You. All appearances are a play of Consciousness. You stay as the Awareness itself. Once the one that wants to help vanishes, then pure grace and help will flow from You, from your Being itself. Do not get confused, my beloveds. This is all for your own good, for your own freedom. There is only You. You are all there is. All emerges from your own Being. And the way to bless the entire Being is to find your complete freedom.”
Can You Stop Being consists of excerpts taken from some of Ananta's earliest Satsang's between August to October, 2014. “Ask yourself right now: Can I stop being now? In this question you will see that there is a Being here; your own Presence, which cannot be stopped. This Being is not a man or a woman, it is just Being. Irrespective of what happens in the story of this life, this Being is unaffected, unchanged, untouched Consciousness. Prior to I am a person, I am a man, I am a partner, I am a parent, I am a child, prior to all of this: ‘I Am’.
This book is a selection of Satsang dialogues that took place between Novemmeber 2014 to October 2015. “Although it can sound simple, almost trivial, but to not believe our next thought is to experience the freedom, the non-resistive, non-suffering state, right now. You cannot suffer without buying your next thought. Even if you believed all your previous thoughts, this fresh moment is so beautiful and powerful that all prior conditioning has dissolved already unless we pick up the tree of conditioning again by pulling at the branch of the next thought.”
This book is a selection of satang dialogues that took place between January and February, 2016. “You see, the Knowing is always Knowing. Awareness is always Aware, and This is always 'I'. So although Being is coming to a realization of its Source, The 'I' has always been 'I' . Even in the playing of ‘I’ as ‘I Am’, ‘I’ has remained as ‘I’.”
This book is a selection of satang dialogues that took place between March and May, 2016. “That’s why I say that ‘You are free now’. What does that mean? As Awareness you are free. But the advice is ‘Keep coming to satsang’. For who? For the Beingness. There is nothing here for the person. You see? So Consciousness in this monologue is saying to Itself: ‘Hey, buddy, you know, it’s good, what we’ve walked together so far, but let’s just keep at it’. You know? That’s the real monologue that God is having with Itself. It’s all part of the game.”
This book is a compilation of short, poignant talks taken from online Satsangs with Ananta between 19th May to 11th July 2016. It is not the recognition which is difficult. More difficult is to give up our stories. But That which You Are, (and you’re recognizing it now), cannot have a story. That which is not phenomenal cannot have a story. That within which all phenomenon is born and dissolves cannot have a story. You Are This.
Based on a series of talks given by Ananta in July and August 2016. “Can it be that all the wise ones were fooling us with their imploration ‘Know Thyself’ just so that one day we would come to this conclusion that ‘The Truth about the Self is unknowable’? The Realization of the Self is completely possible! The Self is completely Knowable! But not in the way we think. Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's repeated advice to inquire ‘Who Am I?’ and Nisargadatta Maharaj's guidance to stay with the sense ‘I Am’ was not so that one day they could say ‘Fooled you!’ There is a big clue in the phrase ‘Know Thyself’. The clue is to look at this Knowing itself.”
This is the 8th book of Ananta Satsang talks, taken from online satsangs from 5th September to 19th October 2016. Meet me here where we are One. Meet me here where the universe is just a tiny firefly. Meet me here before time and space. Meet me where meeting Me is to meet Yourself.
This book contains simple pointings, contemplations, guided inquiry and powerful discussions from online satsangs between 26th Oct. to 15th Dec. 2016. “I feel [this] is the gist of what has been shared from here over the years; the gist of what Advaita Vedanta really is trying to convey. It has been a great gift in this life here. Meeting all of you also has been the greatest gift that my Master has given. I have so much gratitude in my Heart for all of you. Thank you for being this beautiful Sangha, my beautiful friends and family. May we all never forget the beautiful grace we have all had in our lives to have the opportunity to be at the feet of Satguru Sri Moojiji.”
Based on a series of talks from Satsang with Ananta, April through September 2017." What witnesses everything and Itself remains unchanging? This one sentence is more than enough, actually." "Satsang is nothing but these two aspects, which are completely inter-linked: What is it that I truly Am? and the dissolution of the belief in this idea of limitation."
Based on a series of talks from Satsang with Ananta, from first of October through end of December 2017. “If it is picked up, it is picked up. Now it's gone. No concept has ever survived this moment. Isn’t this good news? No concept has ever, ever survived this moment. You are empty of it Now.”
This book is a compilation of a series of Satsang talks from 1st January through 23rd February, 2018. “Look at truly what your starting point already is. Once you See that in the beginning itself You are All-There-Is, then what to do with this idea of getting something? These are the gifts of our notionless Existence. As we don’t create a notional, conceptual boundary about ourselves, as we include all sensations and perceptions in our own Being, we See that ‘I witness all of this. There is only One without another and This is MySelf.’ This is Your starting point already. This is the best news.”
This book has been compiled from online Satsangs, 1st March to 14th June 2018. “The bigger meaning of Grace is that it is the will of Consciousness Itself which is all-inclusive. Everything is included in that. This is Grace. When we say ‘Guru Kripa Kevalam’ it means ‘Only the Master’s Grace Is.’ We start to see then that it is one unfolding; it is one movement of Consciousness. The physical form of the Master is the embodiment of this Satguru, the Divine Presence in Your Heart. Everything is unfolding in Its light. This Guru is the light of our Existence. We will See ultimately that everything is the Grace of this Divine Presence; everything is this Satguru’s Grace, is God’s Grace.”
Taken from online Satsangs 25th June to 21st August 2018, these simple pointings, contemplations, guided inquiries and interactions with sangha are full of Ananta’s direct insights, love and laughter. “It is not possible to find the Absolute through conceptual or perceptual understanding. I’m pointing you to emptiness. To put one drop is to fill my cup. What does the empty cup look like? To know one thing is to know too much. What do I know when I know nothing?”
Compiled from transcripts from Ananta Satsangs (27th August to 1st November 2018) these simple pointings, contemplations, and interactions with sangha are full of Ananta’s direct insights, love and laughter. “What is apparent to You Now, without making any distinction, without using any terminology, not even Satsang terminology? We have made a nice nest with all the concepts about Consciousness, Awareness and ‘What I have to do to stay there’. Don’t rest even in that. Don’t make any conclusion, any judgment. I say to you that the Truth is apparent to You Now, the Complete Truth is apparent to You Right Now, fully. There is no time in which this is not true. Only our intellect seems to cloud it, our judgments, our interpretations, our labels. They seem to cloud it, but not really. In the Right Now, the Absolute Truth is apparent to You. But not to your mind.”
This is the 16th book of Ananta Satsang excerpts (not including the paperback/kindle on Amazon) taken from online Satsangs from the 5th of November to the 31st of December 2018. These simple yet powerful pointings, contemplations, guided inquiries and interactions between Ananta and sangha are full of Ananta’s direct insights, love and laughter, continuously opening us to direct realization of the ever-present Truth. “Right Here and Now, the Truth is Apparent to You. Your own Presence is un-deniable, un-miss-able. But this Self has given Itself the power to consider Itself to be limited. In your openness, in your emptiness, all the Truth that needs to be discovered, the Self that you are looking for, is realized. There is no distinction between openness and realization.”
This book was created from transcripts of Ananta’s online Satsangs from 1st January to 7th February 2019. Ananta takes on concepts and interpretations in this book and the way many can miss the living direct experience of the Truth by holding onto spiritual concepts left over from moments of revelation instead of meeting and living this Truth fresh each Now. Ruthlessly exposing yet gently showing step-by-step how the Truth cannot be spoken and what living without concepts is actually revealing to us, this book is full of Ananta’s direct insights, poignant clarity, and interactions with the Sangha, always sprinkled with generous doses of love and laughter.

You see, all that can be thought about ourselves is nonsense.
Every thought we can have about ourselves does not mean anything at all.
That I am Free means nothing.
That I am God means nothing.
That I am Bound means nothing.
That I am Waking Up means nothing.
That I Understand Nothing, means Nothing.
That I Know Everything, means Nothing.
All are just these energy constructs which we give our beliefs to and make them seem real; never actually real.
Even all that’s said in satsang means nothing. No truth is spoken here.
As Maharaj says ‘The only Truth that can be said is that, ‘I Am’, and ultimately even that is untrue’.
So nothing, nothing, nothing.
It’s all just nothing.
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai. Welcome. Welcome. If this is your first time in satsang, the way to ask questions is through the chat window. Namaste. I presume that the audio and video are fine. Welcome. So I was feeling this evening that satsang has become way too …
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai.
Welcome. Welcome. If this is your first time in satsang, the way to ask questions is through the chat window. Namaste. I presume that the audio and video are fine. Welcome.
So I was feeling this evening that satsang has become way too serious. Maybe we’re all taking ourselves way too seriously now. So today I felt we could have some fun. What do you say? Very good Soham. So Josh is with you. So wonderful Josh. Welcome. Welcome. So nice to have you with us. Yes, and Josh is also with us so today we’ll have some fun. But it will be Satsang Style Fun. Satsang Style Fun.
One of the things which I’ve noticed is that we seem to be very scared now, for some of us, to have picked up this fear of thoughts. We seem to have this fear that thoughts can actually harm us or hurt us in any way. So today we will have some fun with our thoughts and see that they are completely harmless and they cannot touch us at all. So we’ll do a series of these….I used to call them experiments earlier. Some of you know of these. But we’ll do a series of these games. The first one is a Baseball Game. Yes. We’ll just wait for everyone to join in and then I’ll tell you how to play this game. Don’t expect anything to happen with these games. Okay? It’s just fun. All fun today. So we start with a game of baseball. How do we play this game?
What we will do is, we will close our eyes and imagine that there is a batter holding a bat in baseball. This batter can be our image of ourselves, or it can be our favorite baseball player, or it can be anyone that we like. So try it out for a minute. Just visualize a batter taking guard for playing the next ball which will be thrown at him, with a baseball bat in his hand. Yes? This is easy. This much is easy. So all of you with me so far? You understood the instruction? Very simple. Just visualize a batsman or a batter who’s waiting for the next pitch to be thrown at him. And the visual can be of our own self or of any baseball player that we like or anyone. Yes.
Rashmi says, “Can you repeat please? Missed a little.”
So we’re playing this game today. A series of games today. The first one is The Baseball Game. So what we do is we visualize this batsman who has this baseball bat, and he’s waiting for the ball to come, for the pitch to come. Yes?
So all of you can close your eyes. Very good.
[Soham says], “Josh is Babe Ruth.” Very good.
So all of you can close your eyes and visualize this batter. This batter is waiting for the pitcher or the bowler to throw the balls. Now this batter is going to hit out every thought that comes. The balls that will be thrown to him are these thoughts. And this batter will hit every ball that comes out of the park. So you’re all ready to play? Before you close your eyes just say, ‘Yes’, and then we’ll get started. All of you ready to play this first game? Clear? ‘Yes, Yes’, ‘Okay’, ‘Yes’, ‘Okay’. So everyone seems to be clear, so let’s start.
Visualize a batter who’s waiting for the balls to come. These balls are nothing but thought. So the batter waits. And when the thought comes, visualize that the batter is whacking it out of the park. If you miss a few, that’s perfectly alright, but you will hit most of them out of the park. Wait for any thought to come. And as soon as you recognize a thought, just hit it out of the park.
Very playfully. Very gently. Whatever the thought might be, just visualize that it is being hit out of the park. It might be the most glorious thought…., or the most horrid one. Everything must be hit out.[Long pause]
No expectations. All thoughts are allowed to come to get whacked by the batter. [Long pause]
Remember that all that the mind is saying is a thought, and you can hit it out of the park. [Long pause]
If a thought is coming that, ‘Enough of this game’, then that also can be whacked out.[ Long pause]
[Namaste] Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. Whenever we feel ready, we can open our eyes.
Namaste, Jayani. Today we’re having a fun satsang. We’re doing a series of games just to have fun. With no expectations. We’re just playing some Satsang Style Games. It’s a very unique satsang in that way. So all of you can say something. How was it? Did you feel it was good?
Rashmi says. “Is a song playing in the mind also a thought?”
In a subtle way. It can be distracting or it can be just part of the calm. Don’t think about it.
Zoe says, “Mike is here with me as well.” Welcome Mike. Good to have you with us. This is a strange satsang for you to be joining the first time. [Laughs]. But hopefully you’ll have some fun. Does anyone feel they were not able to do it?
Prema says, “Very good. So funny”
Soham says, “Really good”
Ishani says, “Laughed and laughed and laughed.”
Rashmi says, “Harder to bat it out.” So bat out the thoughts about it.
Shanti says, “Good but some of the balls had your face on them.”
See how tricky the mind is? In fact I was going to say that even if the thought is of me you can hit it out. Yes, it’s so tricky. It was fun?
Louise says, “A magical, gentle, ballerina batter? Hitting balls through water like air.”
Yes. Next time we’ll use this image.
Rashmi says.” Laughing so loud at Shanti’s comment.”
Wiebke says, “ Hahaha, I hit you out too, Ananta.”
Isabelle says, “Just what I needed.”
It’s the simplest thing. The simplest thing. So when we started the satsang we said that there’s a feeling that we have started taking ourselves too seriously, and maybe satsang also too, and everything is very stiff. So today we’ll have some fun.
Hi500 says, “My guard was too tight, so no thoughts had a chance.”
Vivi says, “Shiva, too”
We say that these thoughts have no power at all. And yet these same thoughts, we take them so seriously. We search for so much meaning in all of them. And we spend a whole lifetime trying to make sure that we have happy thoughts, that our thoughts are approving of us. What a sham that is, isn’t it? So we can just let them go. This was a more fun way of letting them go. I don’t prescribe this as a practice because I don’t want this to be done like, very seriously…, ‘Oh, I’m doing the Batter Meditation’ or anything like that. Just for fun today we’re just going to play with thoughts because we’ve been taking our thoughts so seriously all our lives. Today we say we’ll play some games. We’ll do some Satsang Style Experiments just to see what happens.
Hi500 says, “Is it the case, we’ve been hitting the bat all our lives?” I’m not sure what you mean. I think the bat.
Rashmi says, “Father, I loved something that Amaya posted today; just thought would share here too. ‘A thought arises and it is perceived. What makes it ‘my thought’? The bird sings and it is perceived. Does one make it ‘my song’? Wu Hsin.” Exactly. Very nice.
Louise says, “Also at times The Twilight baseball scene.” I haven’t seen that. “Cracking the balls for miles.” Yes, I do that sometimes with mine. Just whack it and it goes to the next planet actually. “That was fun.”
Okay, you all ready for the next one?
Ishani says, “Seems like thoughts are just to create drama that doesn’t exist.” Yes. Exactly. That’s what we used to say earlier that ‘The ego is a drama queen’.
Amaya says, “Okay we won’t name the satsang ‘the batter meditation technique’.
No, no. We’ll just name it ‘The Fun Satang’ or something. Ready for the next one? Very good.
Hi500 says, “Filtering the thoughts.” We’re not only filtering the thoughts, we’re also giving a lot of belief to them, but saying, like Rashmi said, ‘We’re giving the belief; we’re saying this is my thought’.
Many of you have heard the ATM example. But since this is a Fun Satsang maybe I can repeat the ATM example, because it is a fun example. Our definition of the mind is ‘Any Time Misery’… ‘ATM’. Any Time Misery. Our definition of the mind is Any Time Misery. So how do you get misery out of this ATM machine? So you go to the mind, and if you go to the mind (and you must be going from misery obviously), first you put the ATM card, isn’t it? The ATM card means the ‘Attention To Mind’ card: ‘ATM card’. So you put the ‘Attention To Mind’ card, and just because you put the ‘Attention To Mind’ card, it doesn’t mean that misery is there. You still have to do some more work to get the misery. So what do you do? You give it your Pin Number. You give it your ‘Personal Identification’…, that this is ‘my’ thought, this applies to ‘me’, this is true for ‘me’. So once you put the ‘Attention To Mind’ card in, and we’ve put in our ‘Personal Identification’, then we have an unlimited supply of misery from this ‘Any Time Misery’ machine. But without these two steps…, putting the ‘Attention To Mind’ card in and the ‘Personal Identification’ with the thoughts…, it is impossible to get misery.
We go to the ‘Any Time Misery’ machine called mind because we must want some misery, isn’t it? Otherwise, why would we go? Even if the machine seems to come to us, it still needs the ‘Attention To Mind’ and the ‘Personal Identification’ to come. You see? In that way we actually work hard to get this misery. If we were not to give it our attention and personal identification or belief, then we would not be miserable.
Jayani says, “Please tell me what you’re doing Father. Just connected.”
So we said we’re doing some fun today. We felt satsang has become too serious and too stiff, so today we’ll play some Satsang Games. That’s what we are doing. In the recording you can see what the first game was, but we are ready now to play the next one. Ready to play the next one?
Shanti says, “What about dreams? Had a really heavy one last night and it seemed to have a lot of messages for me. Whack this out, too? ”
Yes. Whack all thoughts about it. Don’t try to whack anything else. Just any thought that is arising, just let it go. Don’t take the batting thing also too seriously. Because we can make a practice out of the batting thing. It’s just part of the game. But we know to let go means to just ‘let it come and let it go’. No whacking is also required in reality. Only in the game we say. In reality just let the thought come and let it go. It cannot touch you.
[Atma], “So funny example”. Yes.
Kapil says, “Wow. Heard the ATM card example first time. Loved it!” Yes.
Alright, next one before we run out of time. Ready?
So in this game what is going to happen is…This is The Game of Opposites. Actually Jyoti, in her broadcast yesterday, reminded me of this one, this experiment and…There she comes! Look at that! [Laughs] Look at that! This one, she reminded me of this experiment which used to have earlier. So this experiment is The Game of Opposites. So this game, how it is played is again is…
We close our eyes and we wait for a thought to come. And as a thought comes, for example that, ‘This is very foolish’. A thought could come ‘This is very foolish’. Then immediately we attract the thought, ‘This is very great’. We pull out the opposite. Yes. So this is The Game of Opposites.
So we can start now. Close our eyes. Wait for a thought to come. And whatever the thought is coming, we attract the next thought which is the exact opposite of that thought. Then we let it go. [Pause]
So with the eyes closed, whenever possible, just wait, be completely open to any thought, and then think the opposite of that thought. And even if no thought is coming, we can say that ‘One thought has come’.
Let all thoughts come. As soon as a thought comes, and is recognized, attract the opposite of that thought, and think the opposite. Very playfully, very gently, just do this for a few minutes. [Long Pause]
Very good. [Namaste] Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. You may gently open your eyes if they were closed.
Zoe says, “Sleepy”. Yes. It’s a bit late in the night there. That’s okay if there was some sleep. It’s fine.
Rashmi says, “Only presence Father.” Yes. Very good.
Vivi says, “What to say now…”
Jyoti says, “So grateful to be here with you.”
Ustreamer229 says, “Thank you Father, had to go to work. Freedom is here. Namaste all.” Namaste. Thank you.
Clare says, “ Me, too. Thank you.” Very welcome.
Soham says, “We like the games.” Yes, yes.
Louise says, “Father that was strange. To bring a thought and give belief was hard, but both felt the same.” Wow, yes! Exactly, isn’t it?
So the thought just arises and we feel that ‘This is really my thought’. But then we realize that once we attract the opposite also, and give it our belief, then that seemed also true, isn’t it? Because ultimately, nothing is true. Ultimately, nothing is true. And in this way, we see that we don’t have to give belief to any thought at all. It’s simple, simple, simple because it’s all nothing, nothing, nothing.
Rashmi says, “Thank you so much. This game revealed so much.” Yes. It does.
Clare says, “Without thoughts, there’s just peace and joy.” Yes.
Without belief in thoughts… So, thoughts can also exist. Thoughts can exist, but without our belief in thoughts, it’s only peace and joy. Yes.
Jyoti says “Yay! Love this. Don’t love this.” Yes. Exactly. Because it’s nothing.
Prema says, “It’s all just nothing.”
Kapil says, “Nothing, nothing, nothing.”
Ustreamer538 says, “I am just seeing that the thought ‘You, Ananta, as my Guru’ is also thought. Letting it go.” Yes, yes.
Ananta is not the Guru. The Guru is the Presence which is already inside your Heart without belief in any thought. That which requires belief in thought is not true. So don’t believe any thought or the opposite of any thought. Just be in the beautiful neutrality. So don’t say ‘Ananta is my Guru’ and don’t say ‘Ananta is not my Guru’. Then, the truth is really revealed here. Hm? No desire. No aversion. That is neutrality. Nothing, nothing, nothing.
Are you all having fun? You ready for one more, or too tired?
Hi500 says, “Ananta, I have a pain in my leg. Should I not accept that either?”
We never said that. Pain is there. Don’t say that pain should not be there. Don’t accept any thoughts about it. That’s all we’re saying. Don’t accept the interpretation of any appearance. All appearance is allowed. Everything is allowed here in the infinite space called ‘You’. In the infinite space called ‘You’ all appearance is allowed; just don’t give the interpretation any meaning. When you give an appearance the identity of ‘me’ or ‘mine’, that is when it starts causing trouble. When you start interpreting appearances, when you start believing the interpreter called the mind, that is the only trouble. Otherwise, we do not resist any appearance. We do not even resist the appearance of thought. Everything is allowed to come and allowed to go. To give it our belief means to give it our meaning, to give it our personal identity.
Very good. One more? Okay, Rashmi is marinating in the previous game. So we’ll see this one and see how it goes. This is very simple actually. This is very simple.
So, every one minute, I will ask you to…, this game is only for a minute, so in that minute all you have to do is close your eyes, and count the number of thoughts that came. Just count the number of thoughts that came. When I say ‘start’ you can start counting the number of thoughts. Until then, you can close your eyes and be ready for me to say ‘start’. Until I say ‘stop’ keep counting all your thoughts.
Wait for me to say ‘start’…Start. And [after one minute has passed]… Stop. And you can tell us how many thoughts you counted. And don’t worry, this is not about any grading or any levels based on how many thoughts were there. It’s all just for fun. So, how many thoughts did you count?
Rashmi, it’s Okay. You said “We’ll just stay here, Father. Don’t feel like playing any more.” That’s fine.
Vivi says “two”, Atma is just joining, Louise said “seven”, Kapil said “ten”, Hi500 said “six”, Wiebke seven, Amaya eight, Jyoti four, Prema seven, Zoe thirteen, Soham four. Josh [Soham’s son] didn’t count, that’s okay. Shanti “fifteen, and a lot were missed.” Ustreamer246 says, “three thoughts and laughing.” Yes, yes. [laughing]
Prema seven, yes. The number is completely irrelevant.
Clare says, “Eyes open, no thoughts. Eyes closed, thoughts started to appear.” Yes, yes. But you’re not trying to stop thoughts. We’re just playing playfully. Just as a game.
[Laughing at the next response.] FB200 Jessie says, “All my thoughts were about counting thoughts.” Yes. We’re just having fun, isn’t it?
Ustreamer8116 Amrit says, “Two thoughts, but ‘counting’ is also a thought.” Okay, okay.
Ustreamer538 says, “Nine.”
Rashmi says, “You are all too cute.”
[Laughing while reading.] Jayani says, “Internet failed just as instructions came.” Ah, Jayani’s having a bad sort of a day, uh? Maybe that sort of a week. Isn’t it? That’s okay. That’s why we record, isn’t it?
[Laughing at next response.] Louise says, “Most of the thoughts were numbers and telling you about them.” Yes.
Vivi says, “Yes.”
Isabelle says, “Seven.”
[Laughing once again at response.] Amaya says, “After two, I said ‘two’ so that became the third thought. Then it was, ‘Oh no, four! and that’s five’. [lots of laughing while reading] Yes, yes…Yeah? You start believing and you start going with them, then you see that it just leads to more and more. Isn’t it?
Kapil says, “I did not count the ‘thought numbers’ as thoughts will double the count.” It’s okay. We’re just playing, ah? Having fun?
But in all of these games, whether you know it or not, there is a great distance being created between the seeing of the thought and the thought itself. You can see very clearly that you can never be this thought. You have never been these thoughts. We see that very clearly now. You have never been these thoughts and the thoughts are all rubbish. And they mean nothing, actually. All of them can just be allowed to come and go.
Yes, Clare says, “Throwing all my seriousness out.” Very good.
Vivi says, “Yes.”
Louise says, “My first thought was ‘giggle’.”
Jayani says, “Thoughts cannot touch what I am. All nonsense.” Exactly.
Ustreamer81 says, “It was all a long thought about the exercise.” [More laughing]
Zoe says, “Even beautiful thoughts, all of them nonsense.” Yes.
Beauty does not need to rely on thoughts. Truth does not rely on thought. Only the false relies on thought.
Rashmi says, “Amrita is counting too, on phone.”
One more? I know Rashmi’s tired but are the rest of you also tired? I have a few more but we can do one more.
Jyoti says, “Father, this is off subject, but I love these words that you wrote: ‘In Om, only Him. Without Om, only Him.’” Yes. These words came up a few months ago actually. Very beautiful.
Jessie says, “Seeing that joy and peace are also thoughts. All seen. Even the seer is seen.”
Only the Seeing is what you are. There is no entity called the ‘seer’. Whatever is seen is not you. Yes, yes.
Okay, very good. One more? Okay, so which one should we pick? Rashmi says she’s also ready. O.K. Shanti says, “I’m not keeping up, but willing.” Yes. Nothing to keep up. We’re just having fun today. “Ready” Okay, there’s a question before that…
Louise says, “Father, are we the only expression of consciousness that becomes attached to thought? Maybe this is the human expression so Consciousness can experience them? Sorry, side track.”
In the appearance it seems only this way. In the appearance it seems this way. But nobody can truly validate this. Isn’t it? We cannot check with the other species, especially the seemingly evolved ones like dolphins or chimpanzees, whether they also have. At least, if there are some studies on this, I’m not sure. But in the appearance it seems like humans are the only ones which can get so enamored with thoughts.
Okay! Ready, ready, ready. Which one shall we do? Okay, let’s do this one. Maybe this one will bring us to the end of satsang. It’s a very beautiful one. Very beautiful one.
So, visualize that you have three Chinese bowls, like the zen bowls. And if you can’t visualize these bowls, then visualize that you have three small buckets. And these three bowls or buckets are of three colors. There is a red bucket or bowl. There is a green one, and there is a blue one.
So in the red one, you will put all the thoughts about the past. In the green one, you will put all the thoughts about the future, and in the blue one will be all the thoughts about the present. Red for past, green for future, and blue for present.
And just wait for the thoughts to come. You may close your eyes, and when the thought comes, just see whether it’s about the past, future, or present; and put it in the right bucket or bowl, whatever you are visualizing. Remember; red for past, green for future, and blue for present.
Let all thoughts come now. If it’s possible, you can close your eyes. You can start now and I will tell you when to stop.
[About three minutes later] Very good. Om. Shanti, shanti, shanti.
And if your eyes are closed, you may gently open them.
Rashmi has to go. That’s fine. So much love.
Jessie says, “Sitting in the empty blue buckets, laughing at the other empty buckets.” Yes. [Laughing] “All seen but made me laugh.” That’s good.
Amaya says, “That was so funny. ‘If you can’t visualize bowls, then visualize buckets’.” Yes, [Laughing] I don’t know where that came from actually. I underestimate my sangha, isn’t it? “And, this was typed in the past, slated for a future post on chat, and sent in the present.” [Much laughter again] Good. “Fun. No past / future in reality.”
Soham says, “Past overflows. Future, just a few. Present, none. If thought offers three, but really all are included in ‘present’.” Yes
So, what do you feel? How are your buckets? What is the biggest bucket, or the one that is most full? You can all say. Which bucket was the most full and which was the least full?
Zoe says, “All in ‘present’ bucket, but I needed a yellow imagination bucket.” [laughing] Yes. Good point actually. We’ll add that.
Isabelle says, “Future bucket was fullest.”
Kapil says, “Present most, future least full.”
[name inaudible] says, “Now fullest. Future, least full.
Prema says, “Future and present same: most.” Yes.
Soham says, “Father, now that you mentioned these games, it feels it’s actually so difficult to imagine even playfully.”
Yet, we play these games all the time. No? We’re actually playing this game of thoughts all the time. When we say ‘play this game’ then it becomes a little difficult, isn’t it? Okay, let’s read more.
Ustreamer61 says, “Red bucket thoughts of future, and present also, seem like past.” Yes. Very good.
Louise says, “Future. Every time a present thought came, I thought about the number I would tell you, [laughing], so I put that on the future bucket.” Good. “three, or in the blue. But today, just laughing.” Yes.
Atma says, “Past. All is past for me.”
Jyoti, says, “Present bowl. Past, some.”
Weibke says, “Somehow past, because all seems past. All seem to be past when they arrived.”
Shanti says, “Not past. All mostly now thoughts. Some future. Past thoughts looked for, but they were buried. Need a shovel” [Laughing]
Jyoti says, “Mostly, I was just full of love for you.” Very good.
Amaya says, “Just seemed past and future were thoughts now. So all belonged in ‘now bucket’.”
It can be said in both ways actually. In one way we can say that all belong in ‘now bucket’. In second way, we can say the thought can never speak anything about the now actually. What can a thought say about the ‘now’? Whatever it has to say must be about the past, or some projection about the future. What can a thought truly say about the now? And even if it were to try, it would be a speculation that it is coming up with sometime in the past, because when it is uttered it will be in the future. You know what I’m saying? What can a thought really say about the ‘right now’?
Jessie said, “We should do a mind bucket challenge. When we dump these buckets, nothing comes out. So much fun.” Yes.
Ishani says, “To be honest, thoughts are not clear. Need to make effort to figure out what kind of thought.”
See? So we see that when I say ‘it is effort to pick up thoughts’, when I say ‘it is effort to pick up thoughts’, some of you don’t believe me. Isn’t it? Now when you make it a game to pick up, you say ‘it’s effort’. It’s very good. This is a beautiful realization, that it is effort to pick up thoughts. In our natural state, it is too much effort to pick up thoughts. Very good.
Jyoti says, “Good games Father.” Thank you.
Zoe says, “Mike says, ‘now thoughts. Future thoughts saved for morning’.” Yes.
[Laughing]… Mike, it had to be this satsang for you somehow. If you find us too crazy then you can look at a recording of a previous one…, and you might find us crazier still. [chuckling]
Louise says, “Father, just before you mentioned the color of bucket, the colors came to my mind. Freaked me out a bit.”
Yes, because in this one consciousness, and when we play these games and we’re looking at these things so closely, actually they might seem like a lot of fun games that we are doing. So I actually tricked you all a little bit today, but there’s great, great seeing in these games. Great, beautifully strong, beautiful. Very good.
Weibke says, “So much thoughts about thoughts.”
Yes. But we’re loosing the fear of these thoughts. We’re loosing the sense of running from them. Hm? They are allowed to come and go. And we realize it is so much effort to get involved with them. Isn’t it?
Louise says, “Me too.” Yes. She also had the same colors.
Shanti says she was geared up for a serious day and we ruined her plans. Yes. [Laughing]
Amaya says, “Yes true. Now is not between past and future.” Yes. Very well said. ‘Now is not between past and future.’ Just, thought comes now. It seems to come now. Yes.
Atma says, “Yes exactly that.” Exactly.
Weibke says, “So true. So much effort to pick up thoughts.”
Very beautiful. If there is just this one thing we see today, it is to see that it is SO much work to pick up these thoughts. Isn’t it?
Jessie says, “To enjoy the play of mind. What else is there to do now?” Yes.
Jayani says, “Thank you Father. Will watch recording. Love being in satsang even if stream kept breaking. I am here with you unbroken.” Very beautiful. Very beautiful. Thank you.
Jessie says, “Thank you, Guruji. Love you so much.” Love you too. [Blows kiss]
Ustreamer696 says, “Namaste Father. I was here but couldn’t couldn’t text chat. But this was also a thought. Future bucket was the fullest, but seemed like the present [inaudible].”
Yes. We can contemplate this. What can a thought really say about the present, the true Now? The mind is unable to access the Now. “To even differentiate the thought was strenuous.” Yes.
Shanti says, “Have a fun filled day everyone.”
Soham says, “Thanks for the fun. Lots of love.” Lots of love to Josh as well.
Ah, it is Bhakti. Ustreamer696 says, “Bhakti here.”
Ishani says, “Thank you Father, leaving for class. Love you and sangha.” Yes, it’s time to leave for all of us.
Hi500 says, “Thoughts appear to over lap.” Yes. Just look at this. But there can never be two thoughts at the same time. It might seem fast, but you’ll see that just like this voice can say one word at a time, in the same way the mind is also like this. That’s a good observation to verify. Just validate this.
Amaya says, “Thank you for satsang. First time we are over the hour.”
Yes. That was fun, isn’t it?
Zoe says, “Much love.”
Thank you all so much for being in satsang today.
It was very beautiful being with all of you. Moojiji ki Jai!
Sangha: Moojiji ki Jai! Anantaji ki Jai! Thank you. Love you.
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai. [Namaste] Very warm welcome to all of you; and if this is your first time in satsang, the way to ask questions is through the chat window. Welcome. Let’s turn the censor off, if we can. [Reading chat welcoming messages to himself.] Okay, …
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai.
[Namaste] Very warm welcome to all of you; and if this is your first time in satsang, the way to ask questions is through the chat window. Welcome. Let’s turn the censor off, if we can. [Reading chat welcoming messages to himself.] Okay, let’s start with Rashmi. She has been saying since last evening that something needs to be exposed. Namaste. Welcome, welcome.
Rashmi says, “Exposing and surrendering the ego’s wanting to feel special in the sangha and with Ananta.” And immediately she says, “Feels so much better.” In the throwing it into the fire of satsang itself, she says ‘feels so much better’. She says, “It was such an urge to expose, dear Father.” Yes.
What is the meaning of wanting to feel special? Special in what way?
Shanti says, “Sweet Anantaji, here at your feet in the early hours.” Yes. Shanti usually only joins us on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but today she’s able to join early also. Very good.
Rashmi says, “Just being accepted or known. Very weird.” Yes.
So, when asked ‘What is the meaning of feeling special’ then she said ‘Just being accepted or known’. But we feel that already you are already accepted, isn’t it? And I feel that there is not anyone who does not know you. These are all the tricks of the mind. And it will never say that ‘It is enough’ actually. Whatever you have, it never says ‘It is enough’. Either it says ‘This is too much’ or ‘too little’.
Very good. She says, “That’s why I had to surrender.” Yes. “I am not that nonsense mind.” Very good, very good.
But that is the nature of the mind, isn’t it? It will say either ‘Not enough’ or ‘Too much’. If it were to say ‘Just right; this is exactly what it is right now, therefore it is just right’…, if it were to know that the Universe does not make a mistake, and it has perfect timing, then ego cannot sustain itself.
Rashmi says, “I am always here.” Yes.
Louise says, “Father, you look all shiny and clean today.” [Laughs].
Amrita says, “Love you, Rashmi.” Namaste, Namaste. Very good.
[Speaking to Rashmi]. So, that’s all that needed to be exposed? After such a long wait, that was a bit of an anti-climax actually. [Laughs].
She says, “Yes.” Yes. Very good.
Like we said earlier, all that is happening is happening. All that is happening is happening. The interpreter comes up with concepts like ‘Right or wrong, good or bad, little or too much’. All this measuring, all this judgment comes from the mind itself. Therefore the simplest pointing (and I know I say this for all the pointings [Laughs], but the simplest pointing) is fire the interpreter. Just fire the interpreter. Don’t even measure whether you are awake, or asleep; whether you have understood or not understood. Don’t measure anything at all…, whether you are close or far, whether the Master is ignoring you or loving you. All this is just the mind’s nonsense. And it’s very good that you are able to openly expose in front of 25 people, you’re able to say that ‘This is what is arising here strongly’. And there is great beauty and integrity in being able to say that ‘This is how it seems like for me’. And you will see, in the process of just being open about it, you will see that already the bite starts to go, isn’t it? And it’s completely understandable what you say, actually.
So at one part of my life, I was part of a very large movement. I was part of a very large spiritual organization based in Bangalore; I was a part of that. And many times this feeling would come over me that ‘I wish that I could be a part of a sangha right from the very beginning’. Right from the very beginning I wanted to be part of a sangha. And I was joking the other day that Consciousness took this too literally. [Laughs]. So I was right there in the very beginning, starting alone actually. Never alone really; but just seemingly starting as the first member of the sangha.
Okay, there’s lots of chat. Let’s catch up on it.
Rashmi says, “It was hard for me, too.” Yes.
Denan says, “Thank you for exposing that. I am newer here, but experience similar feelings.”
Yes, it’s very natural. But all of you will soon realize that I love you completely. And physical proximity or whether we have a seemingly strong or weak relationship means nothing actually. Because I know that we are One.
Rashmi says, “It’s the ego’s wanting to be ahead of <censored>…much me and others.” Not sure if I understood that.
Ginger says, “Anantaji, will you explore the movement of Presence to the Absolute with us?” [Repeats it]. Yes.
So let’s first clarify what we mean when we say ‘The Absolute’. What we mean when we say Shiva or The Absolute or The Ultimate is nothing but pure and simple Awareness itself. This awareness is ever-present; you don’t have to do anything to find it.
I know that the instant I have said this, many of you are searching for this awareness. But you have to go nowhere to find this. You are aware right now. You are aware right now. So, this awareness is ever-present but completely invisible to the mind. So any time you’re waiting for the mind’s conclusion that ‘I have seen Awareness’ that is bound to be set up for failure. This is prior to the mind. This is the One that is aware of the mind. The mind is not aware of Awareness; Awareness is aware of thoughts. And the mind is nothing but a bundle of thoughts. So this pure seeing which is ever-present is The Absolute. Without this, we can never say that something existed. There must have been an awareness of it, only then it can be said to have existed. Therefore this is the Absolute One.
Now you say ‘Can you talk about the movement of Presence?’ Yes. So in the deep sleep state, the Absolute One is still present. That’s why we are able to say ‘I enjoyed deep sleep. I slept very well. I just woke up’. That means that there was a shift, isn’t it? What is the meaning of ‘I just woke up’? There was a point where even the sense that ‘I am’ was not there; there was no ‘I’ to speak of. It was only the pure witnessing itself. And then, for some unexplained reason, there is a birth of Beingness from within this pure seeingness. In the pure seeing itself, when there was this pure seeing, for some unexplained reason there is the birth of Being. This is called the birth of Consciousness, Atma, God, Paramatma…, whatever word you might like to use. It’s not the definitions that are important. This Being, the sense ‘I am’, the Presence of ‘I am’. And once there is the waking state, implies that the Presence is here.
The present is here because the Presence is here. I marvel at the beauty of language sometimes. The creators of this language must have seen the truth actually, to use the word ‘present’ to denote that when the Presence is here. Therefore ‘present’ must mean coming from the Presence itself. So when we say ‘Be in the now, Be here now’ we are saying ‘Be with the simple Presence of Being’. It is that simple. Yes?
And then again, when sleep comes, it can be said that the Presence dissolves into seeing itself; and all that means is the pure Awareness itself. So this is the only movement possible. And you can replace ‘waking state’ to also say ‘dream state’ because exactly the same thing happens in the dream state. So this is the movement of Presence that is possible in relation to the Absolute.
Also remember that the Absolute Awareness is all there is. Therefore Presence is also made up of the Absolute alone. Consciousness is a modulation of Awareness itself. In the same way that the projected world is just a modulation of movement in the light of Consciousness itself. I hope this is clear.
Ustreamer392 says, “Ananta, my relatives, partner and children, think I’m going crazy. They are very worried, and somehow this creeps into me.”
Ustreamer392 is who? Okay. So, give me some more reasoning for this? Why do your relatives, partner and children, believe that you are going crazy? And if this worry is creeping into you, it means there is some attraction to a thought that ‘I am going crazy’. So if you elaborate a little more as to why this is, then we can look at it.
Yes, Atma says, “Awake or asleep, don’t even judge that.” Yes. Very good.
Kapil says, “Yes, kudos to Rashmi. I am not sure if I could have done it.” Yes.
Amrit Gaurav says, “Beloved Anantaji, have realized when I am aware that’s the only movement that I have lived.”
Yes, and there is never a time when you are not this Awareness itself.
Rashmi says, “So glad that such things can be exposed here.”
Atma says, “And it happened to you, Father.” Yes, that I wanted to start from the very beginning of a sangha. [Laughs].
Rashmi says, “Surrendering this feeling of being special for surrendering.”
Yes. [Laughs]. I like this very much. Very good. Yes. And surrendering the feeling special for surrendering the surrendering … [Laughs] … you know?
[Rashmi], “Take it all away.”
Yes, just throw it all away. Means nothing. You are not doing any of this; all of this is just happening on its own. Be careful of the one which is taking credit. That does not exist.
Shanti says, “I love you, Father. I feel exactly how Om does when he says ‘Just looking into your eyes is so beautiful, I’m melting’.”
It’s just your own love which is being reflected. Just a mirror into your own Being, that’s all.
Ustreamer80 says, “Isn’t the Absolute even prior to Consciousness?” Yes. “.. and non-Self-aware?” No. “This is what I thought Nisargadatta teaches, and what I have intuitively felt.” “Oh, that was me, Ian.” Yes.
So, we have said that Awareness or the Absolute is prior to Consciousness, yes? Because Consciousness is the sense ‘I am’, or the sense of Being. So in this pure Awareness itself or the Absolute itself, the pure Being is born. We say often that in the pure seeing there is a birth of Being. And this Being is Consciousness.
So, it’s right when you say ‘Absolute is prior to Consciousness’. Yes. [When you say] ‘And non-self-aware…’ No, that is not possible, because Awareness is always aware of itself. Are you aware now? Yes? So it cannot be not self-aware, it is not possible. [You say] ‘This is what I thought Nisargadatta teaches and have always intuitively felt’. So, you’re right on the first part, but the second one does not resonate, because you see that always Awareness knows that awareness is here; and You are that Awareness, therefore You are that Absolute.”
Atma says, “Father and sangha, I have to leave now. Much love.” Much love to you also.
Thank you for joining in, my dear. Very good.
Oh, 392 is Loney. Yes. She says, “I watch satsang all the time. I’m not worried when a relative died. I’m just weird. Not interested in work, parties, family.” Yes.
Then, if these are your symptoms, then you are not crazy at all. [Laughs]. Nothing crazy about you. Yes. And the Self knows exactly what is to be done in every moment. It has no trouble playing the role of a partner, a parent, a child, a mother, a father, a worker. So let go of all your thoughts, and even simpler, just let go of your next thought. Because when I say ‘Let go of all your thoughts’ it sounds a little intimidating, isn’t it? So I say just let go of your next thought, and you will see that life is unfolding very perfectly on its own. I see nothing crazy about this. Good.
Rashmi says, “Ha ha. You got that, too. So amazing.” Yes.
Hans says, “I bow down to the loving Awareness we are.” Good.
Actually, just to be a little technical for a minute…, but I know the sense of where you’re coming from…, but somehow I have to say these things…, that Awareness is beyond all qualities. Beyond all qualities. No? Even the quality of love arises in Awareness itself; but the seeing is the witness of even this love. And it must be said that ultimately untouched and unconcerned even about love. It has no qualities, no attributes at all. The only thing that can be said about Awareness is that it is aware, that it is witnessing.
[Hans], “Pranam.”
Rashmi says, “Getting back to cooking now. Will be in silence.” Yes.
Yes, Ustreamer530 says, “Yes, I am aware now, even before the words say ‘I am aware’.” Yes. Good.
Amrita says, “Same, same, Loney.”
Ian says, “Loney, you are definitely in the right place.” Yes.
Jyoti says, “Is it irrational or from the mind to feel uninterested in any relationship if relationship is not the priority?”
Let’s look at this very closely. So, if we are saying that ‘I’m not interested in another in any particular way, and the reason is truth is not his or her priority’ then you must be a little vigilant; because this sounds like an interpretation actually. Interest comes and interest goes on its own. Remember that interest will come and go on its own. And it is the same for relationship, the same for work. Don’t try to control your interest. But don’t buy any interpretation. Don’t buy the interpretation that ‘If this one was really interested in the truth, then I would be interested in him’. There is no control over the sense of interest as it plays out, just as in his or her case there is no control over whether they are interested or uninterested in truth. There was a large part of this story of this life where there was no interest in the truth. Does it say anything about me? No. I was always this.
Ishani says, “Dear Father, Awareness feels like there is not even ‘I am’ somehow. Does that make sense? Not sure if Ian meant this.” Yes.
So we said that the first part of what Ian meant was that Awareness is prior to Consciousness. That is completely true. The Absolute is prior to Consciousness. But the second part of what he asked was whether there is an Absolute which is prior to even Awareness. And that is ‘No’. So like we keep saying that in deep sleep or in turiya state of meditation or some special stages of meditation, even the ‘I am’ is not present; but there is an awareness that ‘I am’ is not present. Otherwise who would report that ‘I am’ is not present? And if there was an Absolute prior to Awareness, then who would be aware of it? Who would be aware of an Absolute if it were prior to Awareness? It wouldn’t be possible. Then it would never be known; then it must be only a figment of our imagination, isn’t it? Because something is not comfortable saying ‘This Awareness must be all there is’. And ‘I can see that there is no distance between me and this Awareness, but I am very uncomfortable being a ‘verb’. I’m not comfortable with the idea that I am just a seeing. Therefore, let me be an absolute which owns even this awareness’. This absolute is not real; it is just a figment of our imagination.
Jyoti says, “I am feeling like that; not interested in another. But of course, I would love everyone. But for an ongoing relationship with a friend or someone.”
So it is seen that sometimes you wake up and there is no interest in something. Possibly if there is something that can be done, then possibly the worst thing that can be done is to try and analyze why interest is not there, or look for mental answers or interpretations to why interest is not there in something. Suppose the other, the seeming other, was completely interested in truth. Then also you might wake up one day and see that there is no interest. And then the mind would say ‘Because the other is only interested in truth, and not interested in companionship, therefore I am uninterested’. So don’t go with the mind’s interpretations. You can see that, in the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any interest. That doesn’t say anything about the reason, or whether it will be there in the next instant or not, or whether there will be more disinterest. Nobody can predict these things; therefore draw no conclusions based on any mental interpretations. And life will unfold exactly how it is meant to unfold. With you having let go of all interpretations, you will find that just what is meant to come out, through you, will happen. Don’t believe that you are responsible for creating this lack of interest. It is just another happening, and you are just watching it happen. There is no individual doer even to create this lack of interest.
Louise says, “Father, I am aware of not picking up the thoughts, and not being able to follow the instruction to drop thought. But it seems at times that thoughts are not dropped either way. Can feel frustrating.”
Okay, so let’s look at what’s going on. Whether you pick up a thought, whether you give it your complete belief or not doesn’t change what you are. That’s what you said, that ‘I am aware whether the thought got picked up, whether the instruction got followed or not followed’. You are this Awareness itself. This is unchanging. For this we do not even need satsang itself, because you are the Awareness itself. Why do we need satsang? Because you as Consciousness somewhere have believed that you are the individual entity which is either picking up or letting go of thoughts; which has the power to do any of this. But we see that there is no person which can do this. Only Consciousness itself is letting go of thoughts. Therefore when you say ‘I am not able to do this’ we are asking you to see that this ‘I’ just does not exist. And what perpetuates this belief that this ‘I’ exists is belief in thought. You see? It’s a little circular like that.
So every thought that you believe, even the thought that ‘I am not able to drop my thoughts’ only perpetuates the idea that you must be a separate Being, a separate person, the separate ego. So don’t think about the past. Don’t believe any thoughts about the past also. No thoughts about whether you’re able to do something or not. I know that you can let go of your next thought. At any point, just let go of your next thought. That is it. And don’t buy any conclusions whether you’re getting good at it, whether you’re bad at it, whether you’re successful, whether you’re waking up, whether you’re still asleep…, all these mental conclusions are not required.
Ishani says, “Thank you, Father.” Very good.
Ginger says, “Unearned. How did we get so, so, so blessed? Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.” Yes.
One of the definitions of grace, (which doesn’t completely resonate with me, but it’s a nice one), is that grace means unearned blessings. I would rather say that ‘Everything is Grace’ but one of the definitions I’ve heard is that grace means unearned blessings. So, all is grace.
Ustreamer75 says, “Awareness has no qualities, yet gives rise to a Being as Consciousness which has qualities.” Yes.
We can say that Being also has the quality of just Being, but in the light of this Being, all qualities seem to arise. The presence of love seems to arise, the presence of peace seems to arise, and the seeming opposites also arise. Because the Presence of Being is the birth of the world of duality; everything and its opposites. And coming back to the truth is seeing that this duality is not real, and only Awareness is all that is. So, all comes from within Awareness itself, it is true. That is the Divine leela as to how, from this pure innocence of no attributes and no qualities the world of duality can arise. It is very similar to some scientific ideas of how the Universe was created, isn’t it? They say that there was a finite, infinitesimally strong piece of nothing actually, and in that small piece of nothing seemed to have been born time and space which are ever-expanding, constantly expanding, with all this matter and energy…, you know, all these forces of gravity and electricity and magnetism, and evolution and all of these forces. Where does it come from? From nothing itself. So science is also coming close to a similar understanding actually. Very good. I hope it’s a little clear.
Ishani says, “At your feet, Father.” Very good, my child. Very good.
Does any of what I’m saying sound too abstract or difficult? Because there was some testimony yesterday about it not being understood, about anything not being understood. While at some level I completely understand that, [Laughs] that the mind will not understand this, but I’m hoping that I’ve not lost you in these words. Because it seems like just simple common sense actually. In this moment, if we were to check and confirm what is here, then you will see that this is completely tallied up with this. I feel I am speaking only of what is present right here, right now. So if there is some complexity, I am always happy to look at it.
Yes, Ustreamer75 says, “My mind does not understand, but I understand.”
Yes, that is fine. Because will not understand, because the mind cannot see. The mind cannot see. The mind has no ability to see anything at all. It cannot verify the Presence of Being. It cannot look at the Presence of Seeing.
Denan says, “The heart understands.” Yes.
Amaya says, “In deep meditation all is gone, and it seems easy to see how pure Beingness-I-am and all others are One Being. But in outside world, to ‘see them as the same as in a dream’…, doesn’t that deny their innate Beingness?”
No. We are not denying their innate Beingness. All we are saying is ‘It is the same Beingness’. Because Being is here, therefore you see the Presence of seeming others. Therefore which Being must be present? The Being which is seen to be the Presence ‘I am’ here itself. Hmmm? You see this? You cannot validate the Presence of Being in a seeming other. And that’s why the dream analogy is useful.
Jyoti says, “It is simple common sense.” Yes.
Shanti says, “Very clear.”
Wiebke says, “No, today everything you are saying is so clear.”
Yes. Sometimes it is good to be in satsang for a while because initially the mind will keep you distracted; like this blurry feeling will come, no? Everything seems fuzzy, and all these energies are getting released, so sometimes there’s not even very much attention going to the words or the pointings which are being said. But all this settles down after a little bit of, as my Master says, defrosting initially, and then more clarity can emerge like this.
Denan says, “Sometimes the mind gets lost, but there is a deep resonance and understanding beyond comprehension.” Yes, very good.
Ian says, “It seems that the question ‘Are you aware?’ is asked to Consciousness, as someone unconscious will not reply but is presumably still aware. I am confused, I must admit. I need to re-look at things.”
Yes. Let’s look at this very slowly actually. All questions and answers can only happen in this seeming world of duality; in this seeming world of appearance. In the Presence of Consciousness, all these discussions can happen. But does that this mean that Awareness is not present now? Does it mean that Awareness has been covered up with a layer of Beingness so that it is unrecognizable, so that the seeing of Seeing itself cannot happen? That is not true. Consciousness is present here, and the Presence of Being is also seen, isn’t it? Therefore to ask ‘Are you aware now?’ is the same as asking ‘Who is aware of Being?’ You see? So although Consciousness is present, it doesn’t mean now that the Seeing is obscured. In every moment, pure Seeing is here. As we said, even in the deeply meditative stages where the Presence ‘I am’ is also missing, but there is a seeing that ‘I am’ is not here. You know that in your sleep the ‘I am’ was not there. But You must have been there to know this, isn’t it? That is Awareness, that is the pure knowing, that is the pure Seeing.
I know that words can be a little confusing. There are no words which can truly describe what we are saying. Therefore my job is to just keep hammering, hammering, hammering and it will hit home; I know it will. So asking ‘Are you aware now?’ is just like asking ‘Who is aware of the Presence of Being?’ You are able to testify that Being is here, ‘I am’ is here. And you are able to testify that in deep sleep there is no ‘I am’ also. So this One, is it absent in the waking state? It cannot be. Because all appears for Awareness itself. Don’t try to solve it with your mind. Just let go of all of your thoughts, and then this insight will emerge on its own very beautifully.
Amaya says, “Okay, thank you. Still feels very strange to me to sense others arise in my seeing only, but surrender the need to know.”
Yes. It’s good to let go. If it’s a feeling that this insight does not, like, settle in, then just let it go. Yes? It has nothing to do with your freedom from suffering. All that is required for your freedom from suffering is to let go of your next thought. The rest is only fun that we are having. Freedom from suffering seemed to be such a great challenge initially, isn’t it? But now we are seeing through the tricks of the mind, and made it very simple. Through the simple pointing ‘Let go of your next thought’, I feel all suffering can go. Therefore what is left to share in satsang is just these insights that seem to appear in this way. So we don’t need to work towards…, like you said, just surrender the need to know, and you will see that one day that it might seem clear. And even if it doesn’t, what is the big deal, because you’re not suffering anymore anyway, isn’t it?
Prema says, “Since experiencing the witnessing of a state of deep peace a few days ago, I am always experiencing this. Mind is trying to say ‘this is too simple’. Just checking in, Father.”
It is too simple for the mind. Just keep letting go, and this witnessing state, this experiencing of witnessing as you are saying…, the awareness of Awareness itself is ever-present. And it will not seem too simple, too difficult. It will seem like the most natural thing actually; the most natural thing.
Aryev says, “It appears to me that this phenomenon Awareness, Consciousness, individuality happen at both macro and micro levels.”
Well, you’ll have to elaborate a little more on that. First I would say that put Awareness, the pure Seeing is here. Is there anything personal about it. The pure seeing is here. Which person own this seeing? When you say ‘at a micro level’ I presume that you mean at a personal level; but you can correct me if I’m wrong. Which person owns this seeing? Then Consciousness is there or Beingness is there. This Consciousness is witnessed by the eternal witness of Awareness itself. Where is the person which can say that ‘I own this Being’? Is there not just a pure witnessing of it? Yes? And then the Being is there, then the phenomenal world arises, and the sense of individuality or ego arises. So I see not much which is micro actually. Only the delusion seems to be micro. But if I misunderstood the question, then say again.
Ian says, “Thanks, Ananta. Will sit with this. I think it goes back to the feeling that the Absolute is not Self-aware.”
If the Absolute was not even aware of itself then what good is it? Sorry, but I have to say it like this, no? If the Absolute was not even aware of itself then what would it know at all? What would it be aware of? Because you’re saying Absolute, and then you’re saying it is not aware of itself, then would there be any awareness at all? There would not be. So all awareness must be this Self-awareness of the Absolute itself. Isn’t it? Yes, it will be good to contemplate this. Very good.
[Ian], “I will be with it quietly.” Yes.
Cornelia says, “So can we say that the Awareness is aware of Consciousness?” Yes. “…that in the pure seeing appears the pure Being ‘I am?”
Exactly what we have been saying. Very good. It’s very good. It’s exactly that simple, isn’t it? You are aware of Being. Being is not aware of you. Being is just Being. But the awareness of Being belongs to you in some sense, as Awareness itself.
I have to be careful that we don’t create the sense of a ‘person’ knowing something, or the ‘person’ being aware of something. That is something we have to be careful about, because the mind is very quick to jump in and say ‘This is my understanding; as a person now I have understood this’. And with that comes this sense of specialness which we were saying earlier. There is nothing special in this knowledge. It is the most obvious thing. Throw away the ‘person’ who is feeling special because of knowing something. And throw away the person who is feeling frustrated at not understanding.
And what does it mean? ‘Throw away the person’ only means just let go of your thoughts. It’s simple, simple, simple. Yes?
Alright. Thank you all so very much for being in satsang today. Wonderful having you all with us. [Namaste]. Moojiji ki Jai ! [Blows a kiss]. So much love to all of you. [Silence, looking at camera].
Just keep it completely simple, just let go of your thoughts. If any of this discussion is bothering you, or bringing a sense of frustration, then just keep it aside. Just keep letting go of your next thought. That’s all.
And even if this frustration is coming up, it is good. Let it get released like this. Let all specialness get burned. Let the one that is saying that ‘I am a know-it-all, that I must know everything, that I must understand everything, let this one struggle and die, actually. This one is not You. And the pretender can never know the truth. Real knowledge is never of the mind, because the mind can never see anything for itself.
[Namaste]. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So embrace even the frustration that is coming as grace itself. Let it get burnt out. That’s why we say ‘If the heat is too much, or if you can’t stand the heat, then stay in satsang’. Many have left actually. Many have left because of this frustration; because it was still coming from a personal perspective and the person is not able to deal with the heat of satsang. And then life seems to play in a way that they leave for a while. But I know completely that in their heart, they know the truth. So they have not actually gone anywhere; and I will meet them soon. This ‘soon’ could be lifetimes away, but I will not let them go.
So much love…. [Namaste]. [Blows a kiss].
Sangha: Moojiji ki Jai ! Anantaji ki Jai! Thank you. Love you.
Q: “It [voice] says ‘Okay, so what? Give me what I hoped, what I searched in projections’.” Yes, it can say. So for our entire life we have been catering to this voice. Isn’t it? ‘Give me this, then I will be happy. Give me now something else, then I’ll really be happy. Just a …
Q: “It [voice] says ‘Okay, so what? Give me what I hoped, what I searched in projections’.”
Yes, it can say. So for our entire life we have been catering to this voice. Isn’t it? ‘Give me this, then I will be happy. Give me now something else, then I’ll really be happy. Just a little more of this, and then I promise to be happy’.
So we have been catering to this voice over and over. This imaginary one is also the great dissatisfied one. It can not leave you in peace at the moment, because just in that moment you will realize that you are not this voice.
So if you keep giving attention to what it is saying and trying to fulfill its needs, then you will keep running on this tread mill for a long, long time until you’re ready to give it up.
So you hear two voices now. You hear this voice, and you hear the voice in satsang. And if there is a choice for Consciousness itself, the choice is: Which voice will Consciousness choose now?
There is no person in this picture at all. God is pretending to be deluded and God is pretending to come out of this delusion in this great play of Maya. So, in the play, the job from this mouth seems to be to just say that: Let go of this trickster mind which is speaking in your head, and follow the words that are being spoken here: knowing ultimately that you’re always only the Self. So nothing really will change.
Q: “I am sorry, but I can’t seem to get this. I am making awareness some ‘thing’. So much doubt and noise. Don’t even know what witnessing is. Sorry.” No, no, no. It’s a perfectly honest question. There’s a lot of integrity and honesty in this question, which is very good. And you identified a …
Q: “I am sorry, but I can’t seem to get this. I am making awareness some ‘thing’. So much doubt and noise. Don’t even know what witnessing is. Sorry.”
No, no, no. It’s a perfectly honest question. There’s a lot of integrity and honesty in this question, which is very good. And you identified a very subtle problem which many are still unclear about. So it’s very good at least you see this. Because, for many, we buy the visual metaphor of Awareness which the mind is serving for us. So when I say ‘You are the Awareness itself’ the mind could come and paint this picture of a deep space, black space and then say ‘Yes, yes, I am that’. So in that, going with the visual metaphor and buying the visual metaphor, actually the point is missed.
And many, actually, Beings seem to spend many years in this delusion, not just buying this: ‘I have heard I am Awareness. I trust the Guru’s words, and here it is. This is what Awareness looks like’. It’s one either white, peaceful space or black, peaceful space. No? But that is just your mind’s representation of what Awareness is. That is what we mean when you say ‘I am making Awareness some thing‘. It is very good. It is a beautiful line which you said.
So, even in this, the something is there, the mental projection…, but there is a witnessing of this, isn’t it? The one that is aware that ‘I am making the awareness some thing’…, Who is this one? Who is seeing this mental picture of Awareness? This one has no attributes. This one does not look like any phenomena. It is non-phenomenal.
So let me ask you a question which can clarify this immediately. If I was to ask you ‘Are you aware now?’ without referring to the mind, just with the innocence of the child, what would you say? The simple question is, and we’ll wait for your answer; and anybody else who is unclear can also choose to answer and participate when I ask the question:
Are you aware now?
What is your answer?
Q: “Yes, something is seeing all this trying.”
Yes, and this was before I asked this question. So let’s stay with the question which is ‘Are you aware now?’
Forget about all the past. Forget about all knowledge. You are a new born baby who just landed here. You do not know anything. So would you say you are aware now? This question is for all of you.
Q: “Yes.” Very good.
So now stay with me for a little bit. Stay with me. Don’t let the mind come; let it come and let it go. The question is: What is seen?
What is seen that you’re able to confirm this with so much clarity?…, that ‘I AM aware’.
So the question was asked: ‘Are you aware now?’ and something confirmed something, isn’t it? There was a confirming that happened that ‘Yes, I am aware’. What is seen that this was confirmed?
It was not that visual metaphor, isn’t it? It was not that ‘thing’ that you made out of this word.
The mind makes a ‘thing’ out of the word ‘awareness’. But in the simple question ‘Are you aware now?’ you did not imagine yourself to be that thing, isn’t it?
But something/nothing, something was seen which confirmed that you are Awareness.
Q: “Goes all blurry.”
You say it goes all blurry, but the answer is still completely clear, yes?
Q: “Awareness itself.” Yes.
Q: “Nothing is seen. Is self-referring.” Yes.
So, let me clarify these words a little more. What he means is that no phenomena is seen actually. Yet it is completely clear that Awareness is here. And in the question ‘Are you aware now?’ the answer is completely clear, even to a child. And you can also say that ‘I did not see anything; it was not a phenomenon that I saw and yet, there is an awareness that there is awareness’.
Yes. Don’t try to understand these words with the mind. Simple. It’s very simple. When the question is asked ‘Are you aware now?’ there’s immediately a confirming ‘Yes’. And you see that it is Awareness itself that is aware of its own Self. And it is not a phenomenal experience. That’s why I say:
Awareness being aware of Awareness itself is the only non-phenomenal experiencing.
Q: “Oh, only Awareness is aware?”
Yes! What is aware that you are aware? ‘I must be this awareness itself’. It is this simple actually.
And because it is this simple, that’s why the mind always misses it. The mind always paints a picture for you, trying to tell you that ‘You are that’. And we’ve seen through all the tricks of the mind, and we distilled the entire search into one simple question. And through grace, if there is openness and the enormity of this question is seen, then it is over now. The one simple question is ‘Are you aware now?’ And the answer will inevitably be ‘Yes’. And then you will see that only Awareness is aware of itself.
Clear?
So, with our eyes open, let’s become aware of our surroundings. Look around the room. Become aware of your surroundings. Leave your attention completely free to go where ever it would like. So, with our eyes open, let’s become aware of our surroundings.
Look around the room.
Become aware of your surroundings.
Leave your attention completely free to go where ever it would like.
Attention can go where ever it likes.
Notice that when an object comes into your attention, and you become aware of it, it exists for you.
Let your attention go where ever it likes.
And in the light of this attention the external world is given life.
Gently, we can close our eyes now, and keep the attention with the body.
Become aware of the body.
Notice that you are aware of the body.
The body is not aware of you.
You are witnessing the body.
The body is not witnessing you.
Become aware of your breath.
Keep your attention with the breath.
Breathing in and breathing out, stay with your breath.
[Silence]
Keep breathing normally and gently with no force of any kind.
You are aware of your breath.
Your breath isn’t aware of you.
You are witnessing your breath.
Your breath is not witnessing you.
Become aware of your thoughts.
Be completely open to all thoughts.
Don’t resist any thought at all.
Let them come and let them go.
Don’t give your belief to any thought.
Let them all just come and go.
If there are a lot of thoughts, it is completely okay.
And if there are no thoughts that is okay, too.
Confirm that you are witnessing your thoughts.
Your thoughts are not witnessing you.
You are aware of your thoughts.
Become aware of any feeling that might exist.
Keep your attention on the feelings.
All feelings are allowed.
Don’t label any feeling that is arising.
You are infinite space in which all feelings are allowed.
You are witnessing your feelings.
Your feelings are not witnessing you.
All that is arising will go shortly.
Nothing that has come will stay.
Become aware of the sense that you are.
The sense that comes with the words ‘I Am’.
This Presence of you is always present in the waking state.
This Presence is your own Being.
This Presence is Consciousness.
This is God’s Presence.
This is Your Presence.
Confirm that you are witnessing this Presence.
The Presence is not witnessing you.
You are aware of even this holy Presence.
This Presence is born in You.
Become aware of this Awareness, which is aware of all that is arising and fading away.
Know that this pure, untouched witnessing, You Are.
This unblemished seeing is your true nature.
This Eternal Witnessing, You are.
May you never be confused ever again about your true identity.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.

Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai.
[Namaste] I’m very happy all of you could join us. What shall we speak about today? Yesterday there was this conversation about Consciousness, Beingness, the sense ‘I’ and if, in any way at all, it correlates with the body. So let’s just spend a few minutes looking at the basics once again. Very, very simple, just common sense to see what is really going on. Yes? Shall we do that?
Shanti says, “Just want to be in your presence today. A guided meditation would be great at some point.” Okay.
[Guided meditation with Ananta]:

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti. Moojiji Ki Jai.
And whenever you are comfortable, if your eyes are closed, you may open your eyes.
Amaya says, “That was the awakening meditation of all time. Thank you. So obvious.” Yes.
Shanti says, “The place / no place of eternal peace.” Yes. Very good.
Amaya says, “When you said ‘Presence is not watching you’ there was a moment of thought ‘Yes, it is seeing me: body / mind’ for a second. That was habit. But you had already shown us we are seeing that…” Yes. Being is just being. Seeing is just seeing.
Shanti says, “Resting here always.” [Long pause while looking into the screen] Shanti says, “It is done”. Very good.
Hans says, “Pranam, Anantaji. Being is active and non-active at the same time?”
An excellent question. And the answer could be said to be ‘Yes’. Look at Being as the light of Consciousness itself, and in this light the world is actually projected. So all movements are just projections of this light. So, like in the cinema, there is a light which is projecting the movie. Here, Being is the light and the screen. So, is the light moving or unmoving? We can say that the light is constant, yet the movie is moving. Or, we can say that the light is moving in some way, that’s why the movement is happening on the screen. And either are okay, based on how you see it. Therefore, it can be said that Being is an ever present constant; and yet it can be said that it is constantly moving. Language cannot describe Being. But we can point to reality. And I have a feeling that you understand what is being said.
Jyoti says, “Can one be more and more awake as time passes?”
The true answer is ‘No’, because no sleeping is actually possible for Awareness itself. So the answer is ultimately ‘No’ because the witnessing is always the witnessing alone. Awareness is always Awareness itself. And, what is actually seen is that ‘I have always been this pure Awareness itself’. And it has always been this constant. Never changing, never moving; this pure Witnessing is what I am.
But the essence of your question is that, ‘In the life of a being, (just to use words), In the life of this being can there be more and more wakefulness in some sense?’ So, I will read it to say that ‘Does, after the awakening…, does it mean that there is a stabilization that happens into the state of freedom, the state of non-delusion?’ And, if you read it like that then ‘Yes’. There can be a time, it can be typically (if you’ve had awakening experiences and there’s a stability that is growing), then sometimes it can be said to take two to three years for it to just marinate, marinate, marinate in this; and the belief in all identity, all thoughts seems to get washed away during this period; and very, very little of the rope called the ‘ego’ remains after that.
Bhagavan [Ramana Maharshi] used this example of the rope which has now become the burned rope. He does not say that the rope vanishes. He only says that the rope is burned and hence, it has no power now. So remnants of the ego will still remain, and momentarily there will be getting caught up in this also, momentarily, but it will not last more than a few moments. And don’t worry about measuring the length of time that it lasts also. But you will know that the capability of the ego, or the capacity of the ego to cause suffering, is now gone. It’s very, very minute.
Prema says, “Witnessing the space / peace / love / joy.” Yes. Very good. And these forces remember are in service to You. We are not to chase after them. When you stay as the Witnessing alone then you see that all of these are standing at Your service actually.
Jyoti says, “…Meaning is the Consciousness-Being more awake to itself?”
Is the Consciousness…so, Being is also, at that point, unchanging actually. But again the essence of your question is ‘It had become deluded, in its own play of this Lila, it had become deluded to believe that it is a person. And this delusion seems to wear off more and more as the awakening becomes deeper and deeper’. Yes, but it is seen clearly by you that this Beingness is untouched in spite of what ever delusion it might choose to propagate or perpetuate.
Hans says, “Thank you for your answer. Yes, I understand.” Very good. I’m very happy to see you in satsang.
SGhere says, “I am sorry, but I can’t seem to get this. I am making awareness some ‘thing’.” Yes “So much doubt and noise.
Forget about all the past. Forget about all knowledge. You are a new born baby who just landed here. You do not know anything. So would you say you are aware now? This question is for all of you.
So SGhere and Hans say, “Yes.” Very good.
So now stay with me for a little bit. Stay with me. Don’t let the mind come; let it come and let it go. The question is:

[SGhere] “Goes all blurry.”
You say it goes all blurry, but the answer is still completely clear, yes?
Hans says, “Awareness itself.” Yes.
Ustreamer802 says, “Nothing is seen.

Clear? “Yes,” Hans says. Yes. Very good.
Ananya says, “I am sure now.” Yes. [Laughing]
Ginger says, “Clear.”
Jyoti says, “Yay! Game over.” [Laughing and smiling into screen]
Adam says, “Yes. Very good.”
Zoe says, “Still can’t talk.” Yes, yes. [Chuckling] Very good. There was a time I wasn’t able to talk, not properly at least, for almost three months.
Ustreamer802 says, “Mind doesn’t appreciate this. It keeps searching in future and projections.”
Yes. That is the nature of the mind. That is the nature of the beast. Don’t try to change the mind. Just be free from the mind. Be clear that freedom is not freedom for the mind; it is freedom from the mind. It is not freedom for the person; it is freedom from the personal idea. Let the mind do what it wants. Who is the mind talking to? Find out who the mind is talking to.
Ajnani says, “If we load a program to a robot…,” I love this kind of question. “…it may be aware of all the appearances and respond.” So she means that there is a robot which has been programmed with some cameras and some instructions, so it seems like it can see. No? “…but can’t be aware of awareness. Isn’t it?” Yes. It cannot be self-aware.
That’s why, if you read some of the science fiction stories like Asimov, or some famous science fiction writers, they talk about this self-aware machine, and they say that humans are just like self-aware machines. And they talk about the invention of these self-aware machines which ultimately then take over the planet; and those kind of things we don’t need to get into. But, yes, it is not self-aware. An amazing question.
Also, the robot will not experience the Presence of Being. The sense that ‘I am’, this Presence of Consciousness of Being will also not be present.
Om says, “Father, you said you wanted to talk yesterday about Consciousness projecting the entire world.”
So let’s not even start by saying ‘entire world’ because that becomes a little confusing or maybe it can be said to be inaccurate actually. So let’s not say ‘entire worlds’. Let’s say that: The light of Being has come on, and in this light, all that you are aware of is being brought to life.
Is anything that you perceive…, can it be there without you being first? Is it possible for any external perception or internal perception of thoughts, memories, etcetera to happen without there first being this light of Being?
All that you are aware of IS the world. And if this is understood, then this will clarify everything: All that you are aware of can be called the world. In this very moment, this is the world.
SGhere says, “So, only Awareness?”
Can’t look into your eyes when you ask this question. Trying to feel whether there’s a sense of celebration about that, or is there a sense of disappointment? This Awareness is what you are. This realization is the end of all suffering actually. Yes. So, only Awareness, yes.
Amaya says, “I like Om’s question because ‘Being is God’ is quite hard to realize except when you speak deeper of it like this.” Yes.
So, Being is born. Look at the transition from the deep sleep state to the waking state. Is it that the world is born first, and then you feel that you are?
Or, first you are there, you are present, the presence is there, and then for this presence, the world arrives?
Just look at this transition from the deep sleep state to the waking state. Is there ever a time in the waking state where the world is present without you?
But there are times, even in deep states of meditation where the Presence / Being is there, but the world seems to be absent. And don’t force these insights too much. They will just appear naturally. As you marinate in this, all this…, all this seeing will be completely clear.
You can also look at the transitions that seem to happen between the dream state and this waking state. So it seemed like you were in one body. Suddenly something is here, and first you were there [in the dream], then you have this [waking state] body; and for a few seconds, you’re looking at the body saying ‘where did this body come from?’ So, first you are there, then the body comes.
Rashmi says, “This thought has been coming often now without any intention, ‘I am here’.” Very good.
This thought will not leave room for other thoughts. And this thought will eventually dissolve in itself.
Ishani says, “Father there were so many insights that happened in the last few months about everything being Self, and grace also; just Self which acts as a happening, and that actually with no one, there is nothing happening.” Yes. “There is nothing happening and there is no one here.” Yes. Very good. “But now everything, even insights, is dissolved into an empty awareness.”
Look at that. Who can say these words? Very beautiful. Very good.
Rashmi says, “Question before Om’s question was Ustreamer802. It says: Okay, so what? Give me what I hoped, what I searched in projections.”
Yes, it can say. So for our entire life we have been catering to this voice. Isn’t it? ‘Give me this, then I will be happy. Give me now something else, then I’ll really be happy. Just a little more of this, and then I promise to be happy.’ So we have been catering to this voice over and over.
You hear this voice and you hear the voice in satsang.
Ustreamer802 says, “Satsang is the most interesting and most beautiful thing in the world.”
Yes. When your truest desire is for freedom itself then you can say these words. But if you were to go onto the streets and force some beings to come into satsang they will say it is the most boring and tortuous thing.
SGhere says, “Only Awareness is here.” Yes. So not even SG here. It’s Awareness here. Yes. [Laughing] “Nothing else. Everything here is happening in this? But only awareness is. Mind blowing.” Yes. That’s the point of satsang, to blow the mind.
Wiebke says, “Wow, so much words now I cannot follow anymore, but there is total laughter at the same time.” Good.
Hans says, “Does Devotion, Bhakti, fit into this?” Of course. Of course it does.
What is happening is, in the heart of the Bhakta everything is handed over to the Master or to God. So the prayer of the Bhakta is that ‘You (referring to God or Master), You are the doer and You are the experiencer’. And when the Bhakta makes his prayer sincerely, then the ego must dissolve; because without doer-ship, the ego does not have any legs to stand on.
With the dissolution of this ego, then the Bhakta realizes that he or she was always actually one with the beloved. And with this experiential realization then the Bhakta also starts speaking these words; because they are just common sense, actually. It’s in this way the Bhakta becomes a Jnani also. Jnani is given to the Bhakta as a prasad for his devotion. And exactly the same happens with a Jnani. It could start off as a very intellectual search, but as more and more it is seen that ‘I am not this, I am not this, not this’ is seen; that this being is here, pure Awareness is here. This is seen. And then it goes from an intellectual understanding to a seen experience. And when this experience is there, then the presence of love, the presence of peace, the presence of devotion is all here in full measure; and in this way the Jnani also becomes a Bhakta.
It’s like two different legs of the table, you pull one leg but the whole table comes. You pull the Bhakti leg and Jnani will follow. You pull the Jnani leg and Bhakti will follow. So it fits into this very beautifully.
Ishani says, “Your grace and love. Thank you.” Very welcome.
So much love, Ckriegel, so much love.
SG says, “What is all this happening around me? Nothing but a cloud. How can it all be unreal?”
Don’t force any belief that something is unreal. If this is an insight, it will be completely clear. But don’t try to force it that it is unreal. Even if all of this phenomenal existence was real, can you show me the reality of the person? Where is the person? The person is seen to be unreal even if all this phenomena is real. And once this is seen, that the person is unreal, then who are you? Then you must be this pure witnessing itself. Isn’t it. It is as simple as that.
Ajnani says, “Yes, but when I am in deep sleep, for the other people the world seems to be going on (they tell us). Is that a joint agreement for not-sleep state?”
No, no. There are no other people. All of this is only You. When Being is here then in the light of this very Being, these seeming appearances of other people come. Just like in the dream. Isn’t it? Where do those people who seem so real, where do they go after the dream is over? Were they not just projections of your own light? In the same way, all that is appearing here is in the projection of your own light. And this fits in very well with what Om also asked.
So when we say ‘entire world’, the world is just what we are aware of now. Just like in the dream. The dream is only what we are aware of then. Hope that’s clear.
Hans says, “Pranam, and from my heart thank you for your answer regarding Bhakti.” Very welcome my dear.
Thank you all so very much. Moojiji Ki Jai.
So much love. So much love.
Sangha: Moojiji ki Jai ! Anantaji ki Jai ! Thank you. Love you.

Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai.
If this is your first time in satsang, know that the way to ask questions is through your chat window. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Jai Sri Krishna. [Krishna’s birthday]. So much love to all of you. The A/V is very good. Very good.
This morning I heard two very beautiful words. Although I have heard them a million times before, there was something exquisite when I heard them today. Because there was a deep truth that was being spoken in just these two words. And the two words were ‘people change’. Two simple words ‘people change’. And we have heard this many times before, haven’t we? And we also know that what changes is not real. What comes and goes is not real. If the Self is real, then in must be ever-present. And it is very true that people change. Therefore it must be that the people or the sense of the person cannot be real. And even if it were real, why would we want to rely on something that is constantly changing? I would not want to bet on something that is constantly changing. Just in these two words there is a great opening actually. It is seen that people change, and we see that that is completely true. The person that is here today seems to be very different from the person that was here a month ago, a year ago; and the further back we go, more and more unrecognizable this person becomes. The changeful cannot be real, and a person is constantly changing.
When we say people change, what does it mean? We seem to feel that what they are, or what their beliefs are, or what they stand for are constantly changing; and it is true. An identity is what? A group of beliefs; a set of beliefs that we have identified with to say that ‘This is me’. And everyday a new belief is either picked up or let go of. Therefore this entity is constantly changing and completely in our mind.
Namaste, Namaste. Seem to have been locked out…
Zurim says “No audio or video here. Is it the same for everyone?”
Ajnani say “The person is changing, the thoughts are changing, the body is changing.”
Yes, yes, very good. All that is changing is not I. the real I, what I really am, is eternal. What is eternal here?
Amaya says, “We have…” A/V, it’s okay now. Okay.
So what people can we rely on?
Ustreamer 732 has a question, “Is not identity and duality, though unreal, a natural force to reveal what is eternal?”
Yes, but it also depends on what your starting point is, isn’t it? So if your starting point is just pure witnessing or pure awareness itself, then what is eternal is already clear, isn’t it? But in this play of Consciousness, in this Lila of Consciousness, with the birth of Consciousness, seems to be the birth of all this unreal phenomena. And it is completely true that all this unreal phenomena is constantly pointing us back home. If that is the true desire in our heart, then this phenomena is constantly pointing us back home. So if you take that as the starting point that ‘I truly desire freedom’ then all identity and duality is ultimately pointing us back. That is true. But if the starting point is pure Awareness itself, which is available right now, in the simple pointing ‘Are you aware now?’ this awareness is available right now to experience; non phenomenally, of course, yet it is here. Then what phenomena or what duality is required to point is back to the eternal? But it is very good, because when suffering comes with identity then we see what we are still identified with. And before we can say there is freedom, we must lose all these false identifications and attachments. So in that way it is useful.
Shinein says, “The Being is changing.”
The Being is ultimately also changing. Because although it is ever-present, unchanging in the waking state, it is not available in the sleep state. Yet we are aware of sleep. We are aware that ‘I went to sleep and I woke up’. Therefore awareness is available even in the state of deep sleep; but even Being is not there. But we can only report this in the waking state. And Being is the deity of the waking state. Therefore we can never report that Being is absent. Because all reporting is possible only in the waking state. And in the waking state, this presence ‘I Am’ is ever-present. And that is clear now?
Ustreamer 732 says, “None.”
No duality is required to point is to our true nature because our true nature is present right now. But duality can serve that purpose. Namaste, Ishani.
Ustreamer 732 says, “Seems constant and aware now.”
[Ananta Closes eyes]. Therefore in this short period of time now, we have already said all that is required to hear actually. The ego is the changeful one. The eternal Awareness is the changeless one. When Being identifies with the changeful one, then there seems to arise suffering. When Being identifies as the Beingness itself, then that itself is the end of suffering. And when that itself is ultimately seen, that ‘This Beingness itself is witnessed by pure Awareness itself which is ultimately what I am’ then the idea of suffering is really far now.
Much love, Lizelle.
Ustreamer 333 says, “Going into true nature we may get disconnected from the ego, but the ego’s destiny…, is it pre-determined, fate?”
Fate is the question of perspective. Doership, fate, karma, pre destiny is all a question of what you are referring to yourself as. If you are referring to yourself as the identity, as a person, then it is seen that the person has no power to do anything at all, because the person just does not exist. And a non-existent one can have no way of doing anything at all. It sounds so obvious but this question of person seems very sticky. Therefore we repeat it very often, that the imaginary one cannot do anything at all. Therefore if you refer to yourself as a person then we can say everything will happen as it is destined to happen. But if you are referring to yourself as Consciousness itself, as Consciousness, as God, You are the ultimate decision maker, the ultimate doer, the one decision maker, the one doer, the one experiencer; all that is You. So what are you referring to yourself as? And if you see that you are the pure Witnessing alone, the pure Awareness itself, then You are just the witnessing of all the phenomenal play. You are not worried about whether it is pre-determined, or determined; whatever is happening is just allowed to happen.
Atma says, “Very clear distinction between the two.”
Shinein says, “Clear.”
Ustreamer 732 says, “I am Awareness and you are a reflection of the Awareness. Om vibration.”
Ustreamer 333 says, ”If I surrender to whatever happens, then will it be inertia?”
That is the fear, isn’t it? So, what happens is that we say ‘I surrender to God, I surrender to the Master or I surrender to the universe…., but please take care of my life’. Ultimately at the root of this question is the fear that ‘God will make a mess of my life if I surrender completely. God does not know how to run my life, therefore before I give up, then I must get a guarantee that I will be take care of’. So the One who runs the entire set of multi-verses, with all the realms and all the Beings, and all these primal forces like light and gravity and electricity, and so many, many, many Beings, and so many planets, everything is happening like clockwork in its own beautiful pattern, the creation and dissolution of universes is happening through the power of this Consciousness. But the fear is that ’My life cannot be taken care of by this One’. You see this? ‘My bills cannot be paid by this One’.
The truth is that the one who is fearful does not exist. Therefore surrender does not mean that you are ‘doing’ a surrender. It is only a recognition that you are always surrendered anyway. It is only a false idea that the person is the doer of any action. For that there needs to be a person first, isn’t it? So who is going to surrender? Who is going to surrender? This concept, this one, must be surrendered. This is only a belief, a belief that ‘I am a separate existence, a separate individual’, this identity that ‘I am a separate entity’.
Ustreamer 333 says, “If ego does not ‘will’, how do people build companies, businesses’ if they don’t ‘will’ and act with doership idea?”
So it is presuming that ‘I am this person’, and then ‘I have an idea that I will build a company, and because of this idea I can go out and build something’. But who is the one who is deciding? That ‘I will build a company’ or that ‘I will devote my life to charity’? Who is the decision maker? Can you find this decision maker?
And after you look for the decision maker and cannot find it, you can also look for the one who created this thought of building a company.
Are you creating your thought?
And after you cannot find the one that created this thought, you can also look for the one who said, “Okay, I will believe this thought and I will move my body according to these thoughts’.
Who is moving your heart? Who is moving your hand? Can you find this one?
And after you have looked for this one and you cannot find the one who is moving your heart, then you also look for one who is experiencing the play of life.
Who is experiencing this play of life?
And after looking for this experience and you cannot find this one also, you will see that it is God who Himself who is already doing all there is to be done, and also experiencing all that is to be experienced. You will see that it is all being imagined.
This little bit contemplation. If you do it, the whole foundation of doership starts to crack very quickly. And the ego cannot survive without having something to do. Therefore with this simple contemplation you will pull the plug on the ego and you will recognize your true identity.
Atma says, “It is only a happening, only Consciousness.”
Ustreamer 732 says, “It is all consciousness dreaming. God is speaking and listening right now.”
Yes, completely. It is time to drop the pretense of being a person. If you want to be a person, first show me where this person is.
Ustreamer 333 says, “Yes, God is speaking and God is listening.”
Yes. There is only God. All is God. Very simply we are able to say that ‘God is everywhere’. We have no trouble mostly with that concept that ‘God is everywhere’. But what we have trouble with is that quickly we then, in the next moment, we invent a ‘me’ which is separate from God. How is that possible? If God is everywhere then there is no room for anything else. It is this simple actually.
And the mind will now say ‘Okay, now I have understood intellectually. Now how do I make this my living experience?’ And we have seen through this trick of the mind also.
And the experience of God in this moment is the simplest thing. And the simple pointing is ‘Can you stop being now? Is there a switch you can flip, and you will stop being now?’ And your answer will be ‘No, I cannot stop being now’. And this being that you cannot stop, what is this Being? This holy Presence is what?
Ustreamer 333 says, “If someone powerful commits atrocities on us, we suffer.”
In this play it can seem like that. But this someone powerful and us is actually one. Just like the movie screen, the movie is being projected but it is the same light. The same light is projecting the hero and the villain; the oppressed and the oppressor. All is in the same light of Consciousness. And we only suffer only with what we have identified with.
And you say, “And we need to silently suffer thinking it is all happening as God’s will.”
So this ‘we’ or this ‘I’, can you introduce this one? Who is this one who needs to silently suffer? Can you show me? You are testifying so much to being this one, and I am saying this one just does not exist. Show me the one that needs to suffer? Who are you?
Ustreamer 732 says, “Fields of pure fragrant flowers bloom from the ground of suffering; is all naturally now.” Yes.
Ustreamer 333 says, “The body, the mind suffer extreme pain.”
The body can suffer pain, pain can arise in the body, but you cannot suffer from it until you believe a thought about it. The awareness of the pain is completely untouched by the pain. The awareness of the mind is completely untouched by the mind. And when you, the mind, is suffering, let’s look at this. What is the mind? The mind is only a bundle of thoughts and similar energies. It is your belief in the thought which gives it its power.
Ustreamer 333 says, “When the leg is cut off and bleeding, would not the Self also suffer?”
No, it would not. When you go to sleep at night, and at night you have a dream, and in the dream the dream characters leg is cut off, that body will scream with pain; but are you suffering? You are suffering only because you believe that to be true. You believe that to be ‘you’. In the same way, whatever you believe falsely to be you will be the cause of your suffering. Therefore whatever is making you suffer, see whatever false identification it is pointing you towards, and find out what you really are. Are you this body which is going to last another 30, 40, 50 years? Who were you before the birth of this body?
Agnikitu says, “As I am not really the doer, is it necessary to know why I do what I do? Sometimes I, probably the mind, doesn’t want to do, but I find myself doing anyway.”
Yes. What is important to find out is that: If you are not the doer, then what are you really? Because what I smell in this question is that ‘I am still a person but I see that the person is not the doer’. That is still not complete. You have seen that there is no personal doership, but see also that you are not this person. The person is only an imaginary idea.
Very few of your problems are problems related to the body also. You will say that ‘I still believe that I am the body’. But if you look back at your problems you will see that they are problems of relationship, they are problems of work, they are problems of money; and the body is unconcerned with these problems. Who is the one that is concerned about these problems? Is this one real or just imagined? So very good, you have seen that personal doership is not possible, but are you still a person? Do you still believe yourself to be this imaginary entity, this separate entity?
Ustreamer 599 says, “Realizing nothing ever happened, not even the dream, the play. Arise so many thoughts of ‘meaningless’. What is the point if nothing ever happened?”
Who is fearful of this idea? Is the witnessing worried that ‘What is the point if nothing has happened?’ Is being worried that ‘If the universe burns to bits, then what will I be left with?’ No. Seeing and Being are unconcerned with the phenomenal universe. It is still the person trying to find some personal meaning in all of this who is now complaining that ‘All has become meaningless’. Yes, because the person is meaningless. The person has no meaning. The search for true meaning will get you to the realization that the person never existed. If your search for meaning is true, if your desire for freedom is true, then you will not stop at this point. You will see that the person is also completely untrue. So what starts off as a personal search for meaning then becomes completely global, it becomes completely open. You see that the person itself is not there.
Ustreamer 333 says, “Got it.” Very good.
Atma says, “Who are you before the birth of this body?” Yes. “Thank you, thank you.” Very good. Atma says, “I am before all. Yes Father, love you so much.” Love you too my child, very good. Atma says, “Or better to say: I am before I am.” Yes.
Agnikitu says, “The doing happens with a sense of detachment, but sometimes I am asked why do I do what I do, and I really don’t know.”
Again who is this I? Usually I am not forcing this question so much but when I see that, in spite of all this understanding now, we are still grasping onto the idea of the individual me, then it must be asked. Who are you referring to when you say ‘I am asked why I do what I do’? This ‘I’ that we have said a few times in this sentence, who is this ‘I’? Can you bring this ‘I’ to the witness stand? What does it look like, where does it live?
Ustreamer 333 says, “With this kind of orientation towards true Self, will it be easy to live in the company of people who think they are body and mind and some person? Obviously satsang, and living with people who are in similar orientation as we, will help.”
I never say renounce the world, I never say live in a cave or live only with the sangha; none of that is allocated. All that is needed to be renounced are our own thoughts. And then you will see that the whole world is your ashram actually. Just let go of your own thoughts. Who is concerned whether it is easy to live or difficult to live with others who are deluded? It is still the personal identity, isn’t it? The Self…, you said ‘true Self’…, the true Self is unconcerned with whatever appears. We must at some point confront this question and see whose voice is speaking now. ‘Although there seems to be understanding, am I still reporting from the perspective of this person?’ Confront this idea of this person, see for yourself. And it might be uncomfortable. I said this in the in-person satsang also, that it could be very uncomfortable to confront this idea: ‘Ultimately, even my spiritual search and all my understanding has been from a personal perspective. But now it is time to bid goodbye to this person that I believe myself to be’. As long as you don’t do that, until you have not said goodbye to this personal identity, suffering will continue. And that is grace.
Agnikitu says, “Ha! No, ah!”
Ajnani says, “Dream characters, natural position is surrender.” Exactly. “No need for any personhood to surrender.” Very good.
Ustreamer 333 says, “But until we fall into the state of true Self, should we guard?”
Yes, just be vigilant against believing any thoughts. Simplest, simplest thing. I’ll make it even simpler for you: Just let go of your next thought. Just let go of your next thought. And if you have picked up a thought, and you have believed it and suffering has come, all that you have to do is let go of your next thought. At any point of time, just let go of your next thought. We have made it completely, completely simple. You are already the true Self. Thought is coming to attempt to delude you into believing you are a person. Therefore your question is ‘How do I prevent this delusion?’ Although ultimately it doesn’t touch the fact that ‘I am only the true Self’. Therefore the answer is to just let go of your next thought.
Ustreamer 732 says, “Light eyes and smiles and quiet laughter.” Very good.
Whatever your thought is saying, just let go of it. Let go of your next thought. [Silence]
Ustreamer 333 says, “This awareness of true Self itself probably removes all physical ailments and sustains this body.”
When you find what you truly are, you will not be so concerned with this body. And in this lack of resistance itself, you will not suffer from what is happening to this body. The pain can still continue, but without the belief in the mental interpretation you will not suffer. And with the acceptance of this pain, you will find that it is completely manageable.
Jayani says, “Father, feel as though I do not know anything.”
Yes, it is very good. It is very good because the idea that ‘I know something’ also comes from the personal space. It is much better to say ‘I know nothing at all’. And in knowing nothing, can there be any suffering? Unless we are trying now to know something, unless we try now to know something, what trouble can there be? Be completely open and trust whatever is happening.
Ishani says, “Beloved Father, I am hardly able to speak; even when I am giving class, voice not coming out, just melting.”
Yes, this happens. And there have been periods of time here for many months when there was no life energy to want to express in any words. And you can trust this completely. Just marinate in this and you will find that at the most auspicious times, this energy will come on its own. Consciousness itself is going to provide it. It is already the One who is deciding what energy should be there or not. So trust the Master, trust God; all is fine. And you might wake up one morning with a lot of this energy, and then it can be expressed. It’s very good.
Jayani says, “No, nothing.”
There is no trouble unless we try to know something now. And if there is no trouble, isn’t that reason to celebrate? And it doesn’t have to be a loud celebration. But if there is some lamenting happening about the fact that ‘all personal knowing seems to have gone’, and we can see that, actually it is reason to celebrate.
Atma says, “Father and beloveds, I have to go before satsang is finished. Love you so much.” Love you too, my dear. Thank you.
Ustreamer 333 says, “Positive thinking and negative thinking many people talk of. Lament attracts more negative, and positive thinking attracts more positive.”
Yes, this one is still like the personal guide to living, isn’t it? It’s like the self-help thing. What are we manifesting in the appearance still comes from the personal perspective. So if you are still trying to make the person’s life events change, life appearances change, then this will not lead to the ultimate end of suffering. Who is interested in positive or negative thinking? Who is concerned with what appearances arise in life?
Ishani says, “Thank you, beloved.” Thank you too.
Ustreamer 732 says, “Cricket songs in California, waning moon, many worlds living on one earth, viewing as Consciousness, graced as Awareness, pure love.” Very good, very good.
Ustreamer 333 says, “But actually we need to let go of positive and negative thinking.” Yes. “And just resign to the universe.” Yes.
But You are the Universe. When you let go of your thoughts, what are you? So there is still this personal smell there, which is telling me that still a person is trying to do something and resign to something. And I must be completely truthful to you and say that ‘You are the Universe’. Or even greater, that ‘The Universe arises from within You itself’. But initially, if there is a sense of peace and relaxation in this, that to believe that from this perspective there is some sense of the weight of the world has been taken off your shoulder, then that is fine; it is fine for now. Yes.
Jayani says, “Yes, Father. Immense gratitude. To be honest, no lamenting or celebrating.” Yes, yes, yes. This gratitude itself is the celebration, very good. “Just yes, and thank you.” Very good.
Ustreamer 599 says, “I will leave any idea, any sense, any illusion, any energies of there being a person here with you. Please take it.” Yes.
This gift I am happy to take. In fact, I will not leave you with any of this whether you like it or not. If you are in satsang, not a blade of grass will you be allowed to carry out of satsang. Therefore when you are in satsang, and even sometimes the strongest resistances come, just know that it is being released and handed over to me. It is being burnt in the fire of satsang. That’s why we joke and say ‘If you can’t stand the heat, you must stay in the kitchen’. The usual saying is, for those who are not aware, ‘If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen’. But what we say for satsang is ‘If you can’t stand the heat, then you must stay in the kitchen’. Let all the false which is burning…, and it is only the false which can burn…, let the false burn. It has nothing to do with you, it is not yours. Don’t be attached to the false.
Adam says, “Yes, thank you, take all my grass.” Yes, very happy to take all the grass.
Prema says, “Trusting and open to what is happening. Thank you, Father. The plug of the ego has been pulled.” Very good.
And even when sometimes we feel that we switched off the fan, the fan continues with its own prior momentum. Bhagavan [Ramana Maharshi] gave this example, no? We take the electricity out, and yet with the prior momentum, it seems to flow. But don’t judge now whether this movement is still happening or not. Just hand over everything that is happening, and in your handing over you will not switch on the fan again; and it will not keep turning for long. Very good.
Jayani says, “Heart of my heart, to say ‘I love you’ does not come close.” Yes, it does not come close, but I love you, too.
Thank you all so much for joining in satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai!
So much love to all of you. So much love, Cornelia. Ajnani, Amrita, Aryev, Louise, HariOm ustreamer, Jayani, Shinein, Clare, Amaya. Very good. Agnikitu, very good. Ishani, Adam, very good. The experience of being enlightened is only the complete seeing that the person never existed here. Therefore it cannot really be called an experience at all. It cannot be called a state. It’s completely seen that the ego was complete imagination and falsehood.
At most times it seems like a laughable idea; that I could be so strongly identified as a person seems like a laughable idea, a joke. And with this dissolution of personhood we lose the ability to suffer. Nothing happening in the appearance can make you suffer. Pain can arise momentarily, but there is no sense of suffering. Of course, as by-products, you can have many experiences, you can have many fireworks, you can also face many challenges to play this out in various different ways.
That is why I keep emphasizing that: Don’t focus on the states or don’t focus on the experiences. Those are truly not relevant.
It is like your vision used to be colored through the spectacles of personhood earlier, where everything was seen from a personal perspective, everything was seen from the eyes of ‘What is in it for me? What is the benefit for me?’
And once this ‘me’ is dissolved, everything can be just flowing without the neediness, without us grasping for everything that we see. Then life becomes a lot of fun actually.
But this joy does not mean that it has to be some blissed-out state or freaked out state. It doesn’t have to be a high in that sense. It is a very natural, peaceful, pure, neutral state.
In fact, it is the state in which all other states arise.

Thank you very much for joining in and if this is your first time in satsang, the way to ask questions is through the chat window. And I am presuming the audio and video are okay. Namaste. Welcome, welcome.
Today India is celebrating Independence day. So today may all of us find our true independence. May we be independent of the false. May we lose our dependence on the untrue, that is true independence, isn’t it? Welcome, welcome, welcome. What is true independence? To be free from the false. To be undependent or independent from what is untrue. So that is my wish and my blessing to all beings. May all beings come to their true freedom. And it is very easy, it is completely possible right now, to be completely free; because it is independent of any external circumstances. True freedom is present already. Very good.
Let’s catch up on the chat. Namaste everyone.
Ajnani says, “Tatas tu?” Yes.
Jyoti says, “Amen to that.” Thank you.
Ginger says, “Yes to true freedom.”
Zurim says, “Love the topic of today’s satsang, true independence. Namaste.”
Aryev says, “Dear Ananta, what is the experience of being enlightenment?”
‘Dear Ananta, what is the experience of being enlightened?’ Yes. The experience of being enlightened is only the complete seeing that the person never existed here. Therefore it cannot really be called an experience at all. It cannot be called a state. It’s completely seen that the ego was complete imagination and falsehood.

Aradhana says, “Thank you.”
Ustreamer 72 says, “Yes, yes, yes.”
Ajnani says, “Yes.”
Let’s look at Aryev’s question first, then we will come to Ustreamer 600.
So Aryev then says, “Right now we know intellectually what you say, but it is not my experience. At the very least, how can it be my experience?”
Yes. I know this question well because I also have carried this question in the past that ‘I have understood all of this but how can it be my experience?’ Yes. But actually it is not true, that you know this only intellectually. You know the Beingness and Awareness is ever-present. Aren’t you aware right now? The one that is aware of the seeming external world, the one that is even aware of the seeming internal world of thoughts, imagination, memories, emotions, who is this one? Who is this one? Are you separate from this?
You are aware right now, and this Awareness you are. Don’t expect it to be a phenomenal experience, don’t expect fireworks, because all phenomenal experiences that come will go. Don’t expect a state to come and stay. All that can come, will go. What lasts is the witnessing? So without believing a thought, where are you now?
Aryev says, “Yes, I am aware. But ego individuality is still there. Suffering is less but keeps coming once in a while. I do not experience what you described.”
Yes, suffering is less is very good to start with; and you see that without believing a thought, suffering cannot continue. So right now, if you are not believing a thought, you are free. Even all these thoughts, keep them aside and right now you are free. Next thought, keep it aside and you are free. Next thought, keep it aside, you are free. No thought can force you to pick it up. You are giving meaning to it. Next thought, keep it aside, you are free.
Your own desire for enlightenment can become the bondage for you. In the final stage that is the only bondage that seems to remain. Sometimes the desire for freedom becomes so strong that it has burnt all other desires to a great extent and now only this remains. But it is an auspicious desire, because this will also get burnt with it. This desire itself will be burnt by the desire for freedom. It is the only self-burning desire, if we can put it like that. You are free now. Forget about the future, forget about the forever. In the now, show me suffering. Don’t wait for guarantees. Don’t do post mortems of the past. Let go of your next thought. That’s all that is required. This is freedom.
And this is the freedom which requires no proclamations. No announcements are required because all are free in this very moment. All thoughts are pulling you away from the now. But reality is only in the now. Reality is only here. And this ‘here and now’ is prior to time and space. It does not mean physically here or physically now. When you withdraw your belief from all thoughts, even the thoughts of liberation, then you will find that you are prior to all phenomena including time and space.
The one who wants freedom is not real. It is the same one who wanted money, the same one who wanted better relationships, the same one now is saying ‘I want freedom’. It is freedom from this one. So if you keep catering to this one, then how can you find freedom from the same one? And this one is nourished by the belief in the thought that ‘I want the experience of enlightenment’. It could say that ‘I want what you have’. And I can say that ‘I have nothing actually’. This is the blessing that I have; I have nothing. Are you ready to have what I have? I have nothing, I know nothing and I am no thing. And it is completely glorious. The mind will not fathom this.
If there is still a person there running around for enlightenment, the more you do to get that person enlightened the more of the fallacy you are encouraging. You are already the Self alone. And no ‘person’ is ever enlightened. Free yourself from this false idea of personhood. And we have given you all the tools now. The simplest way is to just let go of your next thought. And then something will come and say ‘Okay, okay, you have let go of all thoughts but this one is still important’, but it is not. Be free from it.
Like my Master says ‘Don’t have an affection for the infection’. No matter how endearing it might appear. It will only perpetuate the delusion; it is not in service to you now. The desire for freedom has got you here, now its work is done. All that you want is being pointed to you very simply, don’t give it to your mind to interpret it. The mind will never agree with what is being said in satsang. Don’t keep waiting for your mind’s approval. The mind will never want you to be free from it. And don’t try to get freedom for the mind, this is freedom from the mind.
The mind will say ‘you haven’t experienced death. The great Masters say you must experience death and then you can call yourself free’. When you drop the desire to call yourself free, you will see that there is only life. And the death is for the idea of the person itself. That is the death which they are speaking of. It will paint all pictures of what enlightenment must mean, but that is not it. It will tell you that ‘If you are free, no pain can ever arise’. It is not true. It will tell you that ‘When you are free, you will be able to predict all events in the world’. It is not true. It will tell you that ‘When you are free, this body will do all kinds of miracles and it will never have any disease’. It is not true.
Drop all these ideas about freedom, enlightenment. All that can be said is, to the greatest extent (but not a hundred percent), to the greatest extent you will lose the ability to suffer. But you will find that momentarily even the greatest sages have suffered or seem to suffer. Even Jesus seemed to have suffered on the cross. When he said ‘Oh, Father, have you forsaken me?’ Even Ram is said to have gone into immense grief for a while when Sita was taken away from him. And I feel that these are glorious examples, these are great examples, so that we don’t keep beating ourselves up about the momentary suffering that arises. We don’t believe the mind’s unrealistic expectations. Anybody who has been given a human birth will undergo its share of suffering; but because you don’t take it personally ever, it can be said that 99.3 percent of your suffering will vanish. And you know I am joking about the precise value right.
Okay let’s catch up on the chat.
Yes, Ustreamer 600 said, “Is there a purpose for transcending the imagination?”
Yes. The purpose for transcending the imagination is to be free from suffering. If you are enjoying the game completely then most likely you would not be in satsang in the first place. Most of the Beings who come to satsang are tired of the suffering. So the purpose of transcending the imagination is to be free from this falsehood of personhood and hence lose the ability to suffer. And the way to do it is the simplest. We have made it really simple for you. It is only to let go of your next thought. Just let go of your next thought and it is freedom.
Jyoti said, “It is so beautiful when you look at the camera. No distance, one heart. Thank you.”
Yes. I also feel all your Presence completely when I look at the small green light on the camera.
Ginger says, <censored> “…though I am the only thing that isn’t an experience.”
Yes. Awareness of awareness is the only non-phenomenal experience that we have, and it is simple to see. You know that ‘I am aware now’. Are you aware now? And you will see that it is true. So, what knows this? It is Awareness itself which knows awareness. There is nothing prior to awareness.
Amaya says, “Love what you say about ‘in this moment we are awareness’.” Yes. “Noticing, especially after dropping thought, just a present now, empty.” Yes, very good. “Presence-experience, really feels like freedom and is radiant.”
Yes. In the now, you will experience only freedom. Very good. Freedom with no concepts or expectations of freedom.
Amaya says, “The ‘here now’ window. But surrendering this as ‘a new tool to use’ concept.”
Yes. It is not a doing. It is actually in the dropping of all effort, you are automatically present in the now. This is the natural state. It will become that to pick up a thought will become very hard work. To exert any effort will seem completely like an alien concept. Because in your natural state, automatically without picking up any work, you find that freedom has always been here. All is available for you already; then why do all the hard work of listening to thought, you know? You can never do anything anyway. You are not the doer anyway. So it is time that all of us can just relax, and drop all pretence of doership and personhood.
Aryev says, “I’ve been doing that, 7 to 10 hours a day, releasing thoughts. I feel great, but it requires a lot of effort. I wonder how I can maintain it, for example.”
Let’s look at this. What do you do to release thoughts? A thought will come, and a thought will go. Initially for a short while, yes, it can seem like it is effort to not give it our belief. But you have made a practice out of it, you have made a doing out of a non-doing. Actually the doing is in the giving of the belief, it is not in the withdrawing of the belief. And we can try it out, right here, right now. Just become completely open to all thoughts. Be completely open to all thoughts. Don’t say that some thought should come or not come. Let it everything come and everything go. Now show me what work is required to maintain it?
Okay, then he says, “A friend told me she lost her job. Hearing that, I felt much pain, and lost the euphoria of well-being which I was experiencing.”
Yes. See this is pointing to what the problem is. The problem is that you feel that freedom is a euphoria experience. That’s why you’re working hard to create a state, and then to maintain a state. But even in euphoria, even in euphoria, did euphoria touch the witnessing? Was Awareness touched by euphoria also? In the same way that Awareness is not touched by grief, Awareness is not touched by euphoria also. So why are you so concerned about whether euphoria comes or it stays? You’re still identifying with the person who wants euphoria or wants a particular state. Be completely free of all these expectations and desires. It is another thought that the euphoria, the well-being should stay. The mind is very sneaky. You have to be careful not to believe anything at all that it is saying. It doesn’t matter what state comes. Whether it’s euphoria or grief, I know that you are, in reality, untouched.
No one can hold on to a state of euphoria forever. I have met many Master, but there is no Master, no true Master, who is in a euphoric state all the time. There are some false ones who pretend to be in that state all the time. Bhagavan [Ramana Maharshi] also said all states are coming and going. No testimony from a real Master has said that euphoria or bliss is continuous. What are they are talking about is the sober joy of freedom, sober bliss which exists here. It is not a ‘high’ state; it’s not like a drug high.
Then you say, “Yes, I am ready for nothingness.” Very good.
If you are ready for this emptiness, this nothingness, then drop all ideas of what freedom should be; what it should look like. And don’t make letting go of thoughts into a hard practice. Just a little bit, initially, it can seem like a little effort, because our habit has been to pick up every thought; therefore it seems like effort. But very quickly, quickly you will see, it’s actually much easier. It’s much easier to let go of thoughts than to pick up thoughts. Just like it is much easier to keep heavy bags down and not carry them, than to carry them around. But because we have gotten used to carrying this person or this monkey on our backs, we feel that letting go of it is hard work. It is not.
Ustreamer 227 says, “I have what you have. I am what you are. Nothing, nothing, nothing.” Very good. Yes. I know this. Good.
Louise says, “Father, it seems like it should be called ‘innocent-ment’.” [Laughs]. Yes. It is the most innocent state. Very good.
Ustreamer 228 says, “Awareness knows only awareness.”
Yes, because Awareness is the only thing that exists. The Beingness and the world that is created in the light of Beingness is also made up of this Awareness alone. Just as ornaments, rings, bracelets could have many forms, but they are made up of gold alone. Just like snow flakes and ice cubes are also made up of water alone. Everything is made up of Awareness alone.
Ustreamer 845 says, “There are testing times to this understanding and pointing; the Gaza, Ukraine, Bangalore child rape, and so on. Help.”
Yes. The mind will paint a picture that in this understanding it is contradictory to helping Beings around us. There is no point just sitting and getting frustrated with the events of the world. So with this understanding you will see that all thoughts are allowed to come and go, but all actions will continue to flow spontaneously through you. And in your freedom from suffering, you become a role model for all Beings around you. You are a light of hope for all Beings around you that ‘You can also be free from suffering’. And also if some specific actions about a particular cause need to happen through your body, that can also flow spontaneously. There is no contradiction. I see no contradiction in this.
All Beings want to be free from suffering, and the best way to help other Beings is get them to the point of complete freedom from suffering. I cannot think of a better savior for the world. Even if you were to say that the people and the world are completely real, then can you think of a better way to help the world than to free Beings from their suffering? Can you think of a better way? And how can you do that unless you are completely first free from your own suffering?
So, find your freedom now. It is the simplest thing to do. And then in your light of Presence itself, all Beings will be blessed. And whatever actions happen through your body for any of these causes will be all auspicious, and will not perpetuate a sense of specialness in you. You will not feel that ‘I am something special because I am helping the world’. This false ‘I’ will not be perpetuated.
Ustreamer 214 says, “Yes, thank you.” Very welcome.
Aryev says, “I think I understand. I will try what you suggested in the days to come. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it.” Very good. Thank you so much as well.
Ustreamer 228 says, “Thoughts are spaceless awareness.”
‘Thoughts are spaceless awareness’. Thoughts are just…, like all this appearance which is appearing on the screen of Consciousness, through the light of Consciousness alone; thoughts are just another appearance.
Then you say, “What about this maturing, or confirming; or the changing over of power from person to Presence?” Yes.
So, actually it is only Presence which is doing everything and experiencing everything. It is only Presence which is the doer and the experiencer. No person has ever existed. So when my Master talks about the switching over of power from person to Presence, he’s speaking about the switching of our perspective from the unreal to the Real. We have pretended to be something which has never existed; and then we get clarified into what has really been here. So we have nourished the false through the belief in our thoughts for seemingly a very long time; that’s why it seems to be taking a little time for this person to dissolve. And this process is called the switching over of power. But it is completely seen that power has always been with Presence alone. It is only that we have believed the false, and now we see that the false is crumbling or the false is dissolving. This is called the switching over, or the changing over, of power. Yes.
Then you say, “Seems like a teeter totter.” (‘Tetter totter’, I’m not really sure I’m aware of that term. Tetter totter?) “Yet, the awareness sees this. Yet, there is an experience.” [Laughs]: “I just don’t [inaudible].” Yes.
The one who sees all of this, is that separate from the awareness that you’re speaking of? Who is aware that awareness sees this?
Don’t create a mental picture of awareness. This is a very subtle trick of the mind. Everyone should hear this very carefully, because it happens to many, even those who have been in satsang a long time, they believe this mental picture…, it could be of some dark space…, some mental picture…, like this, the mind will offer up as a visual metaphor and say ‘Hey, this is Awareness. This is what you are’. But again, that is only an image. It has fooled you. Who is aware of this image also?
Ustreamer 288 says, “Awareness.” Very good.
And what is the distance between you and this Awareness? What separates you from it? Is there is a part of you which is separate from Awareness? Is there a part of Awareness which is not you? Where are the boundary lines? Can you find out any?
Sindhu says, “Namaste, all. Got a bit late. Good to be here.” Very welcome.
Jyoti, Namaste. Yes.
Ustreamer 706 says, “Thank you for you and your Master’s Presence.” Yes. Thank you so much. [Silence, Joy looking into the camera a while].
Ustreamer 228 says, “Boundless, beyond concept. I can’t even dualize it.” Very good.
And where are you in relation to this? What is your relationship with Awareness? Is it something that belongs to you? Is it something that you belong to? What is our relationship with Awareness?
Ustreamer 228 says, “Being here.” Yes.
Louise says…, very good question…, she says, “Father, if it is not phenomenal, how to confirm our position?”
Yes. That’s why we say that it is seen, although it is not a phenomenal seeing. Yes? For the mind, it can seem a bit tricky, so keep your mind aside; and when you answer the question ‘Are you aware now?’ what do you see to confirm that you are aware now? We can all do this, before we go today. What is seen when we confirm that ‘I am aware now’? Is it something phenomenal that we see, to confirm? How do we know that we are aware now?
So, I’m asking this question to all of you: Are you aware now?
And if you say yes, what is seen that confirms this?
Is it a phenomenal seeing?
And if it is not a phenomenal seeing, we can still see that you are aware, isn’t it?
Again, don’t use your mind. The mind will only get confused. It’s very, very simple. It’s too simple for the mind. Even a child will answer when I ask them ‘Are you aware now?’ Are you seeing now? Are you witnessing now?
Ustreamer 214 says, “Thank you very much.” Thank you, too.
Ajnani says, “I am that.”
Denan says, “Just recognized that the person has been involved in switching from person to Presence. But of course, Presence has always been here, but it’s just the perspective that is changing.”
Yes, exactly, exactly. You’ll be surprised to see that many, many…, after long periods of time in satang also, it still remains the personal perspective; because this person has still not been confronted and thrown away. So all of it seems to become a personal journey, even until the end, it is about the person asking for the experience of enlightenment. But enlightenment means to rid ourselves from belief in this person. Very good that you see this now; very good.
Cornelia says, “No phenomenon.” Yes.
Ustreamer 228 says, “Silence confirms this.”
Yes. It’s true that silence confirms this, but it’s also aware, no? Awareness is aware of Awareness itself.
Cornelia says, “Breathing stops.”
That can be a by-product. That can be a by-product, some phenomenal by-product of this question. So this question actually is like a small explosive, you know? It’s like a bar of dynamite. So if you swallow this question with openness, then the person will be blown to bits. [Smiles]. I know it’s not an elegant example… [Laughs]. .., but this question is the dynamite question: Are you aware now?
Lucian says, “It is just felt. Too close to be explained.”
Very good. We cannot explain it in words, that’s right. Very good. But it is the most obvious seeing that ‘I am aware now’. And what knows this is Awareness itself. It is the most obvious. That is why I said ‘Too simple for the mind’. Therefore the objection that the mind can have is that ‘It is too abstract’ because it is not able to grasp this question. But something in you, deeply intuitively, sees the power of this.
Lucian says, “Yes, the most simple and obvious.”
Yes, the most simple. Even the experience of Being or Consciousness seems to be much more phenomenal when compared to this simple question. The experience of ‘I am-ness’ seems to be like the birth of phenomena when compared to this question, the simplest question, ‘Are you aware now?’ And with this you see your true freedom, your true independence. You find that you are forever free. Even if the body seems to be in some captivity, you are always independent, you are always free. And then for fun you can celebrate this day as Independence Day.
With that, wishing all of you Happy Independence Day. [Indian Independence Day].
So much love to all of you. Thank you for being in satsang. [Namaste].
Moojiji ki Jai! [Blows kiss to the screen].
Wow, I seem to have missed out on a lot of chat which has suddenly appeared. So, what I’ll do is I’ll read all of it, but I won’t read it out loud, and then if there’s still a question that remains, we can take it up in the next satsang. Hmm? [Waves goodbye].
Sangha: Moojiji ki Jai! Anantaji ki Jai! Thank you. Love you.
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai. Namaste. Welcome. Welcome. If this is your first time in satsang, know that the way to ask questions is through the chat window. I’m presuming that the A/V is good. Very good to see all of you here. Thank you so much for …
Namaste everyone. A very warm welcome to satsang today. Moojiji ki Jai.
Namaste. Welcome. Welcome. If this is your first time in satsang, know that the way to ask questions is through the chat window. I’m presuming that the A/V is good. Very good to see all of you here. Thank you so much for joining in. There’s a question on the chat but it was from Ustreamer519. I feel that he was chatting with the recording actually. So Ustreamer519, if you’re still here we can look at your question.
So we were joking yesterday that, at the end of every satsang, nothing more needs to be said. And yet something seems to arise in every satsang. So let’s see what arises today.
Okay, Ustreamer803 was the one who typed the question earlier, and the question was, “I’m feeling hatred inside myself. I know this feeling is not affecting who ‘I am’ but I’m feeling much more stronger the separation, paradoxically. Sometimes I feel it is needing to come up from me.”
So there is a feeling of hatred which is arising; and very beautifully you say that ‘I know it is not touching who I really am. But I feel much more strongly the separation paradoxically. Sometimes I feel it is needing to come up from me.’ So if you were to presume that these feelings of hatred were pent up somewhere inside and they need to be released in this way, without your engagement or involvement; if they were allowed to just be let go of…, because you said already that it does not touch who you are. And if it does not touch who you are, then why go to any mental conclusion about it? If this feeling is there, no need to even label it actually. No need to even label the feeling. Just it seems to be a strong energetic sensation which is trying to get released.
The instant you draw a mental conclusion about it, or believe a mental interpretation about it, that’s when it starts becoming a problem, doesn’t it? But in your case it is already saying ‘it is not affecting who I am’. Then there isn’t the need to buy any conclusion about it. Is the conclusion not just another thought? Without this conclusion, without belief in this conclusion, can you show me where the problem is?
Batima is back with us. Welcome back. Very good. Not sure if I’ve missed anything. Just type it again if I have.
Om says, “Father can you speak a little about thought and actions being independent?”
Yes, we’ll come to that. Let’s look at Ustreamer803 first, and then we’ll come back to 315.
Ustreamer803 says, “Yes, there is not a problem, but in a way is affecting my relationship with people, because sometimes I feel this hatred when people are around me.”
So just do an experiment for me. Let’s do this experiment. Don’t resist this hatred. Allow it to come and allow it to go. Just like you’re doing with thoughts now, even with feelings, don’t resist them. Just make complete space. Be completely open. Let it come and let it go. You don’t identify with it. You don’t say that ‘I am feeling hatred’. Just the way you said ‘there is hatred appearing’ is fine. So without engagement, see what happens. And I’m sure that what will emerge will be completely auspicious. Don’t imagine that it will be what the mind wants. Have no expectations this way. Just follow the pointings of these words and then report back, and say that it was auspicious or it was inauspicious.
Om said, “Father can you speak a little about thoughts and actions being independent? ”
This is a clincher for many of you, isn’t it? And this, if it is deeply understood in your heart, then this whole play of Maya can vanish. Because a large part of doership seems to be, ‘I thought this’ and because ‘I thought this’ then ‘I did this’. And because ‘I did this’ I either feel guilty or I feel a sense of pride. In any of this, in all of this, there is strong doership and there is strong perpetuation of the personal belief. Because if ‘I can think this’ and if ‘I can do this’ then ‘I’ must be a separate individual. Now for most of you, you’re able to say that ‘thoughts just appear’.
Initially, before coming to satsang, most of you would also think that ‘I am the thinker of my thoughts. I create these thoughts’. But that delusion quickly goes in a very simple looking: ‘Where does the thought come from?’ That delusion simply vanishes very easily, doesn’t it? You’re quickly able to see that the thought just appears. A bit of a leap seems to be, if I was to say that the action also appears in the exact same way. It is just another appearance. All is a play of being. All is a play of consciousness and you can just watch this. And you will see that it is completely true. All is appearing exactly the way it is meant to appear.
Because to say that you are doing something, or not doing something, would give reality to the idea that there is an individual you that exists. But this individual ‘me’ nobody has ever been able to find. And don’t believe something just because your thought is telling you it is true. Look for this entity you believe is the doer, and you will find that all of this is a play of the light of Consciousness itself. No thought and no action happens without there first being the birth of Consciousness itself. In Pure Awareness no movement like this happens, no phenomenal movement happens.
With the birth of Being, then the so-called actions, and the so-called thoughts, and the so-called emotions, and all other movements start taking birth. But just as you are able to see that thoughts are an appearance, in the same way you will see that actions are also another appearance. They only differ energetically, or phenomenally, but they are made up of the same stuff. They are made up of Consciousness itself, and there is nobody who can control Consciousness. There is no individual who can control the projection. That is why it is said that, ‘God is the One Doer and the One Experiencer’.
It is very obvious actually, because if you see that the individual person just cannot be found, the individual person just does not exist, then it must be This Consciousness itself, isn’t it? I hope it’s a little clearer now.
Let’s look at Ustreamer315. They say, “It feels like staying in Limbo between mind and truth.”
It feels like staying in Limbo. But immediately, just in this much you have identified yourself as an entity, which is between something, isn’t it? This is not true. It is the imaginary identity, the imaginary entity of being a person whose testimony this is, ‘I feel like I’m stuck between mind and truth’. Can you show me what this one looks like? The one that is in Limbo, between mind and truth? Yes, if you were to say that my attention seems to stay with the sense of Being, stay home as Awareness itself, and sometimes seems to jump to mind. Now that we can understand. With the nature of attention being what it is, it can go back and forth. But can You be in Limbo? Who is attention reporting to? Can that be in Limbo?
Okay. Let’s continue. Then you say, “Also realizing for Truth, this cannot be. Still Limbo has been for several years. The body’s exhausted. Please help me to disappear completely.”
Who is aware of all of this? Let’s do this together now. You say that you have been stuck for several years. I know that it might sound like you’ve heard all of this before. But just for a few moments if you can forget all that you’ve heard. Forget all knowledge, all Advaita, all satsang; just forget about it for some time. And just be here fresh with me. Then we will see together what is going on. Yes?
So in this moment there is a perceiving of external objects when the senses are open. When the senses are open there is a perceiving of the computer. It could be perceiving of a table. It could be perceiving of all these seemingly external objects. Just notice that all of this is being perceived. And if you were to close your eyes, there would be a perceiving of what I call ‘internal objects’. And these internal energy constructs could be thoughts. It could be memories. It could be imagination. It could even be emotions. You can see that these appearances also come and go. Then it is also seen that you cannot stop being now. You cannot stop being now.
If somebody were to give you an instruction: ‘Stop being right now’…, you will see that you cannot stop being. And this Presence, this sense of I-Amness…, this is Consciousness, which is the Deity of the waking state. And even this is perceived instantly, when I say ‘Can you stop being now?’ You say ‘I cannot stop being.’ The mind cannot understand this. Don’t try to understand this with your mind. Just see what is being said; just follow the pointing very simply. So there was a perceiving of the external objects. There was a perceiving of the internal objects. There is also a sense of perceiving the Beingness itself, that ‘I am Being’, that ‘I Am’.
You are aware of this. This Presence is not aware of anything. It is not aware of you. It is just Being. And then if I were to ask you: Are you aware? Are you aware of the external object, of the internal object, and this Being itself? You would say that, ‘Yes, I am Aware.’ And this Awareness is prior to all states; prior to the mind, prior to any ideas of Truth. This is the eternal, ever-present Witnessing itself. This is the witnessing, without which you can never report that something was perceived. Can you stop this Witnessing? Can you stop witnessing now? Can you stop being aware now?
You say, “Everything sensed comes and goes. I cannot stop Being. The mind says ‘You could die’. And then you say, “No, no stopping Awareness.”
Is this Awareness, is this eternal witnessing…, is this in any state of Limbo? Can you ever be in any state actually?
You say, “No”
What is the difference between you and this Awareness? What separates you from this Awareness? Where does Awareness stop and you start? Can you show me the distance between you and this Awareness?
And you already say, “Nothing.”
Now from here…can you speak from here? Can you speak of any suffering from here? Without picking up a thought, or giving a belief to a thought, can you speak of any identity, of any suffering at this point?
“No words. All is well.”
Very good. Very good. It is this simple. Even to call it simple is not required.
Okay Let’s catch up with what the others said.
Shanti says, “Yay, I made it.” Yes. Sindhu, Namaste.
Rashmi says, “The same plane flies past here every time.” Because you’re very close by, no?
Zurim says, “Namaste, Father. Namaste, Sangha.” Namaste.
Ustreamer812 says, “Father, there is a clear seeing of peace and joy. But there is a feeling of worrying coming back. Surrendering this at your feet.”
Very good that you surrender this. It’s very good. Don’t even get attached to the states of peace and joy. You are not to be in service to any state. All states, even the most glorious states of love, peace and joy are in service to you. But if you start chasing them, then they seem to run from you. You just stay still and then you will find that all of these states are ever-present in your service and you are completely unconcerned whether they are there or not. And then you will not be worried about worry also. You’ll be completely open to all that comes, because nothing that comes actually touches you in any way. They’re all just dancing in front of you for your entertainment. Without the color black, could you know the color white? Without the color white, could you know the color black? Without the contrast we cannot tell whether something is joy or not. We cannot tell when something is peace or not. If there was always peace, then what would you call peace? So, welcome this dance of contrast. It does not touch you.
Ginger says, “Namaste to all.” Namaste. Thank you so much for your beautiful message on Facebook.
Ustreamer803 says, “Om.” Yes.
Om says, “It seems like thought always arrives just as action is about to happen and claim it, so to say.”
Yes, of course. It always arrives just before. But many times it does not also arise. We still claim it to be our action. If this phone was falling…, not waiting for a thought, the hand goes to catch the phone. We call that reflex. That means action is still possible without thought. So but to keep this false illusion of doership, of false personhood, it seems like the mind plays this trick. But many times we have seen that we could have seemingly decided on one course of action, but when we show up in this particular place we find some completely different set of words coming out of our mouth, or completely different actions being taken by our hands, isn’t it? And then we say, ‘I don’t know what happened, because I had thought I would do something else, but actually when I got there something completely different happened’.
But you can just quietly witness that all actions are just appearances in the same way that all thoughts are. Otherwise what you could do is contemplate: Who could be the decision-maker? Who could be the decision-maker that takes some thoughts and decides to act on them? Can you show me this decision-maker? What does it look like?
Zoe says, “Father, when you say ‘the individual person cannot be found’ I don’t think that even that much is truly clear to me.”
Yes. Very good. I’m always happy when you ask. Very good. What do we mean when we say ‘the individual person’? Let’s scroll back to your question again…when you say ‘the individual person cannot be found.’ Yes.
So what we say is that we have been catering to an imaginary concept. And then when we ask ‘Can you show me the person?’ you will point to your body saying ‘This is the person’. But we have not been catering to the body. Most of our problems, most of our concerns do not actually relate to the body.
It is very common in spiritual circles to say ‘Yes, you believe you are the body, that is why there is so much problems’. It is not true. It is a very rare being that believes completely they are the only the body, because the body has very few needs, actually. So if you want more money in the bank, is that something the body wants? The body is just an innocent instrument. If you want to travel the world, is that something the body wants? If you want to earn a lot of money, is it something that the body wants? If you want better relationships, happy peaceful relationships, is it something the body wants?
So all of these concerns, including freedom, including liberation, is it something that the body wants? No, it is not. So there is only a rare being who truly believes himself to be the body. What do the rest of us believe? The rest of us believe that we are this imaginary concept called a person. Which is only just a set of ideas. It could start with the basic ideas like ‘I am a good person, I am an honest person, I am truthful, I am naughty, I am adventurous, I want to be free’…, all these were just ideas, thoughts which came and we invested so much belief in them and we said ‘Yes, that is me’.
So as a child the thought could have come that ‘I want to become I pilot, or an astronaut’. To believe in that thought, then all the identity would be around making this person an astronaut or a pilot. And then if you were to tell this person that ‘you can never be a pilot’ then that would hurt. But if you were to tell somebody else, who never believed in this identity, that ‘you could never be a pilot’ they would say ‘that’s not a big deal at all, I never wanted to be one’. Just the difference of one thought. Just the walking down this thought leads to this sort of identification.
So as Louise once said ‘the person is only this clump of ideas’. I like that word ‘clump’ a lot because there’s nothing tangible about it, you know? These ideas we have about ourselves, they also keep changing. If you look back five, six years, you will see that the ideas you have about yourself are now very different from then. So when we say ‘Can you show me this person?’ we are referring to this imaginary one which we all, most of humanity, believes themselves to be; but nobody can show because it just does not exist. That is why we say the individual person cannot be found. It is the same thing as saying the individual cannot be found, or the person cannot be found. It’s the same, same.
And then in a very sober looking we say that first there is a witnessing of everything, a pure untouched witnessing, and then the first thing that gets witnessed in the birth of the waking state is the sense of Being, the sense that I Am. The world exists for you in some sense, as this pure sense I Am. This I Am is the same sense I Am as God saying ‘I Am That I Am’ so God gives birth inside You in the pure Witnessing itself. And with the birth of God then this whole creation, this whole phenomenal existence comes into play. But nowhere even in this phenomenal existence can there be a person. That is why I say joke and say that ‘The person is a second level unreality’. So if you were to give complete reality to even this existence, you say completely that all of this is true, the body is true, the table is true, the computer is true, all that I am saying is true, even at this level of reality we cannot find this person that we believe ourselves to be.
So I have no conflict. There seems to be a debate going on between the illusionists and the non-illusionists. The Advaitains are fighting amongst themselves about whether the world is an illusion or not. I have no debate with any of them. I do not want to get into any mental debate about this. But even if you were to say ‘completely real, all this is completely real’ then in this level of reality also, can we identify the person who we have been catering to? Whose needs are we solving? Whose life is this? I hope that’s clearer now.
Aradhana says, “Tvam karta, tvam bhogta.” Thank you.
Very good. Ustreamer315 says, look at these words…, “All is in fact perfection, even the idea of suffering.” Yes. Wonderful.
Shinein says, “Is there a sense of maturing here?” Yes. “Thank you.” [Smiles.]
Yes. In this play is seems like, in the presence of the Master, this process of maturing happens. What is actually happening is that the sense of individualness or the ego, the sense of separation is actually dissolving. It has been nourished over many, many years, maybe many, many lifetimes, and in satsang very quickly, quickly, if you have openness then it seems to get dissolved. So for some Beings it seems like a slow melting and for some it seems like an immediate crunching. All is part of the play. The end goal is the same. You will not survive satsang as a person. The person idea will be removed. If satsang continues it is not possible for the person idea to persist.
So in some Beings there can be this sense of more understanding, more clarity, sometimes back and forth; and then coming to a point of clear, clear, clear seeing that the person never existed. And even after this clear, clear, clear seeing there can be momentary belief given to the idea of people, to the idea of personhood. Even in the great sages and masters there can be this momentary belief. But very quickly it is dropped. That is the only difference. Good.
Atma says, “Great. Father you Presence now touched something inside me and something has opened inside. Just pure emptiness is here at your feet.”
Ananya says, “Namaste Father, just joined in.” Welcome, welcome.
Rashmi says, “So much harder to concentrate in online satsang. Some frustration is coming up.”
But don’t be so quick to identify with everything that comes up. Because then you are on this merry-go-round, isn’t it? Like if frustration is coming up, what does frustration say about you? The witnessing is untouched, isn’t it? Don’t be quick to jump on to these energetic uprisings. You will see that all this frustration can come and go, but you are untouched. That is the real satsang. The real satsang is the Presence itself.
These words are in fact not the truth. No words are the truth. As Maharaj [Nisargadatta] used to say, at best what we can say which sounds like the truth is ‘I Am That I Am’, but ultimately even this is not true. When you are in satsang, let the Presence do its work. You don’t jump on to anything that comes up. Don’t buy any ticket for any ride. It could be a great ride or it could be a horrible ride. Just don’t buy the ticket. Don’t buy any thought.
Ok we have missed a lot of chat, let’s catch up quickly.
Ustreamer315 says, “Thank you. I was never here. So, so funny, laughing and crying. How can me be finished? It was never here!” Yes. So simple, isn’t it? Very good.
Atma says, “I am awareness even of emptiness.” Very good.
Awareness of even emptiness. Very good.
Louise says, “Father, can you clear this up for me? There is a feeling if I open to all thoughts I will get lost in them, so there is resistance to them. Having trouble writing the question as it is dissolving.” Yes. “But it feels something like this is happening. A resistance to thought, through fear of being lost in them even more. But I don’t exist. Not even sure what the question is. But something feels it needs more clarity.”
This happens with Louise; so when she comes to satsang, initially there could be a question, but in the presence of satsang the question itself seems to be vanishing quickly. So she types it out quickly before it either becomes something else or completely dissolves. And it’s fun like this.
Just try it now. All of us can try it now. Be completely open to all thought. Be completely open to even the though that says ‘Okay, in satsang it will work like this, but outside it will not work like this’. Be completely open to even this skeptical thought or any thought that is coming. Let all of them come. We can say ‘bring it on’. Don’t have any fear about it. Don’t worry about the quality or the quantity of any thought. Can any thought exist without your witnessing of it? No thought can exist without your witnessing of it. So you will never get lost because you are this Witnessing itself. Is there ever a moment where this witnessing is absent? Then if the witnessing was absent you could not even say that there was a thought. Because without the Witnessing we cannot report anything at all.
So in this openness you will find that everything becomes very simple, simple, simple. No effort. Everything is dropped, no resistance, no effort. All is allowed. All is open. And this is the egoless state. This is the person-less state, or what the Zen masters used to call the no-mind state. So in fact you are not lost, but you are found. Only the thought will say that you are getting lost. But in effect, when all resistance and all effort is dropped, your true nature is found. Do it, and tell me if it works or not.
Jyoti says, “I stopped making any plans at all for the laughter classes that I run the last few weeks. Even practical plans. And they have probably been the best classes.”
Yes. [Smiles.] They are always the best classes. Very good. So much freedom, so much joy must be there. It’s good.
Om says, “Letting go of actions also means letting go of the interpreter of actions, no?”
Yes, yes, yes, completely. The only letting go, the only renouncing that is required is to let go of our thoughts. And we don’t even say all thoughts now, we make it very simple and we say simply: To come to the end of your suffering, let go of your next thought. That is it, just let go of your next thought.
Shanti says, “Peace is taking everything into its care. “ Yes. “You Beloved, You are this Peace, You are in All. All is in You. Nothing else matters. It is done. No more to do. Just be. Love, love, love.” How beautiful is that? So beautiful. Very good.
Zoe says, “Much clearer now, thank you Father.” Very welcome.
[Laughs] Atma says, “Another great satsang. How is that possible Father?” Yes, yes.
Soham says, “For a few weeks there was much resistance. Started from square one with the enquiry, and of course came to the same conclusion. Now the position of Witnessing seems even more stable.”
Yes. The enquiry is actually the first square and the last square, isn’t it? The only square that is here. So we see in enquiry that no person ever lived here. All that is here is Being, and a Witnessing of even this pure Being. No room for square two now. Very good.
Rashmi said, “The frustration only lasted a…” <censored> “…resistance and it left immediately.” [Laughs.] Yes, yes. So the answer came to you much later; by then the resistance already had gone.
Ajnani says, “It is not possible to stay as a person as a result of satsang.” Yes. “Only Presence do his work.”
Not possible to remain a person. That’s why we love Mooji’s phrase when he said ‘The Sangha of Being’. It’s not a sangha of people. People can come in, but only Being can remain.
Clare says, “It works.”
Shanti says, “Not lost, found.” Yes. “Amazing Grace.” Yes.
Youngadam08 says, “Thank you for your presence.” Thank you also for your presence. I’m happy you could join us.
Ananya says, “I remember our contemplation on thoughts and actions. Thank you for more clarity Father.” Very welcome, my dear.
Atma says, “So much love and all this love is…” Something censored. Let’s try the censor off. Not that it has ever worked….[Laughs] “Awareness aware of itself.” Beautiful.
Shinein says, “The Beingness marinates in satsang. Or is it Joy alone? This is not yet clear.”
But it sounds like a wonderful problem to have, isn’t it? Whether it’s Beingness or it’s Joy? Joy is emerging from Being rejoicing in its own Presence. Joy is emerging from Being rejoicing in its own Presence. That’s one way to look at it. But what a wonderful thing to be unclear about. [Laughs]
Ustreamer315 says, “Witnessing is eternally stable, the rest is life’s glorious play. So much love, Ananta.” How wonderful. How wonderful. How wonderful to hear this testimony, Very good.
Atma says, “All this love is seen, I said.” And nothing in what she said got censored which is a record for today because maybe the censor off actually worked. Very good.
Ginger says, “This is the Ultimate choice.” (With a capital U). “To choose Awareness of Awareness rather than going with the next thought. This is so simple. How have I missed it? So fantastic. Thank you thank you thank you.” Very welcome. Very welcome.
Yes. It can be said like this. As long as there is belief in the concept of choice, as long as you feel some effort can be done, then we must make this choice. This is the ultimate choice: to let go of your next thought. And as you keep letting go of the thoughts you will come to the realization that even this choice was made by Grace itself. When the person is completely dissolved you will see that even this choice had to have been made by Grace itself because there was never a person there. But I do say that if you feel that you have some choice, then you must make the choice of letting go of your next thought. That’s good enough.
Even Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi said this: that as long as there is belief in the sense of the doer, it is good to exert this self-effort of enquiry. Because this path is not a path of denial. Many Advaitains seem to be along a path of denial. Just denying what seems to be true for them in that moment, just using fancy words. So we do not encourage that. That’s why we say that: ‘If there is still a sense of an individual doer, then the doer must make this choice, must let go of the next choice’. Simple, simple, simple.
Jayani says, “Father, I can’t really follow anything today. After the break I feel like I am new in satsang. No questions. No questions, just here.”
Very happy to have you back, and I know it’s been a bit of a torrid time, lots of things happening for the body, a lot of these phenomenal challenges; but now you’re back in satsang, all will be fine. Don’t even try to understand anything. The Presence is already doing its job. And anyway we are saying only that which you already know actually. And tomorrow you might hear the same recording as say ‘this is so basic’. [Laughs.] It’s absolutely fine.
Hi500 says, “Dear Ananta, I was in a trance of heaven during this session. I woke up and I realized I didn’t see where I was.”
Yes, yes. These kind of experiences can happen in satsang where we lose track of time, we lose track of space, we seem to get transported to another realm. All this can also happen. But whatever is the appearance in time and space, the Witnessing is unmoving, isn’t it? So even in the trance of heaven you are able to now report that ‘I was in this trance of heaven’. Therefore Awareness was even there in the trance of heaven. And you were never the content of even heaven itself. You are beyond all states now. You are That in which states are born. Very good.
Shanti says, “Joy is emerging from Being enjoying its own Presence.” Yes. Being enjoying its own presence. “Just wanted to hear you say it again.” [Laughs.] Yes. “Thank you to the questioner who invoked this response. So, so glorious.”
Shinein says, “So much joy here, seen.” Yes. “Satsang is life.” Very good.
Shanti says, “Om Namah Shivaya, beloved Beings.”
Zurim says, “Thank you, beloved Father, for this beautiful satsang.” Thank you.
Thank you Soham, thank you Amaya. Thank you so much.
Jayani says, “Never left satsang in truth.” Yes, yes, how could you leave in truth? “I do not exist is seen, that’s all. Don’t really know what I am saying, but thank you Father.” Yes. You are very welcome, my child.
Aradhana says, “Thank you Ananta, sangha, gratitude and love.”

Very welcome, and thank you for your Presence. Yes.
We used to say this very often earlier that the whole world can burn, everything that appears can burn; but I rest as Who I Am. The entire universe can explode to bits, but I am untouched by this. And these are not just some beautiful words.
Although they are beautiful words, they are not just some beautiful words like poetry. They are not imagination. It is what has been seen to be true. It is completely true, that anything can happen in this world of physical appearance, but I am untouched by it.
Atma says, “Love you, Sangha. Love you, Father.” Love you, too.
Aradhana says, “So ironic. The truth with it’s mighty power always remains silent. The false takes on multitudes of expression. Thank you, Ananta, for this.” Very welcome.
The truth has nothing to convince you about; the truth has nothing to defend; the truth is not trying to impress you. Because the truth remains untouched. And this truth you are. And because you are this truth, then all the rest is just your play. All the rest is just your play. And this play is completely safe because nothing really touches you at all. Therefore the truth does not have to fear; it cannot fear actually.
Louise says, “Yes.”
Atma says, “I am untouched by anything.” Yes.
Cornelia says, “So much energy spent for the untruth.” Yes.
This is your playground actually. So nothing real can be destroyed or spent. But when you get tired of playing then you say ‘I want to go back home’ and in the play itself you say ‘I seem to have forgotten my way back’. And out of your light, you create a Master. Out of your own light you create a Master, who for a while plays along with you and says, ‘Yes, yes. You have forgotten. I will bring you back.’ But in his heart he knows that this is not true. It is just in the play that you seem to have forgotten.
But there is a joy in this play, to say ‘I will hold your hand and lead you back home’. The Master knows that you have never left actually. But in the beginning, you are not ready to hear this, isn’t it? You say ‘The playground is so real. I am here. What do you mean?’ And in the play there is a process of the development of faith and trust. And when this trust arises, then when the Master says ‘You have already been home. You have never left’. Then these words take a hold in your heart, and this fact is seen to be true. You never been this person you imagined yourself to be. We have always been One.
Prema says, “We are always One.” Yes. [Long, silent gazing into camera] Long before these bodies were born we have known each other. And long after these bodies will go, we will know each other, as One. I am your own Heart, and I am always in your Heart. Atma says, “The true is holding …

[Long, silent gazing into camera]
Long before these bodies were born we have known each other. And long after these bodies will go, we will know each other, as One. I am your own Heart, and I am always in your Heart.
Atma says, “The true is holding my hand.”
Yes.
Louise says, “Yes, I am enjoying this attachment and the love that has come; but I open my hand.”
Yes. This is trust. To say that ‘I am enjoying this, but yet, because you say so, I am opening my hand; letting go of even this’. And you will see that this love, because it is true, will not go anywhere. No effort is required to hold it. In fact, effort only gets in the way, (if anything can get in the way), it is your own effort which gets in the way.
Louise says, “Feels I don’t want to ‘see’ before I get to hold your hand and will not need it; like holding onto the ‘student/Master’ so I can once have the joy of meeting the Master.” Yes. [Reads it again]. But it is completely true that I am already holding your hand, isn’t it? And …
Louise says, “Feels I don’t want to ‘see’ before I get to hold your hand and will not need it; like holding onto the ‘student/Master’ so I can once have the joy of meeting the Master.” Yes. [Reads it again].
But it is completely true that I am already holding your hand, isn’t it? And once you hold my hand, then actually it is done. Because I will not leave you with any misconceptions or any attachments which are untrue.
That’s why my Master says ‘It is okay to be attached to the unattached’. Because the unattached one will burn all attachments, including this attachment.
The mind will paint a picture for you that it doesn’t want this attachment burnt, but you know what happens when the attachment is burnt? You realize that we were always One. You see that we were always One.
The Master’s hand is the hand you hold when you actually leave your hands completely open and let go. That is the only thing you hold by opening your hands.
Everything else you have to grasp onto; you have to hold on tight. Because it is untrue. And the untrue needs to be held on tight, it needs to be reinforced by beliefs, it needs to be worked at.
But only the true is present when you have let go of everything else. When you have completely opened your hands, then the true is holding your hand.

Lizelle, much love.
Ustreamer313 (did you say your name before? Ajnani?) says, “I love you very much, Ananta. Still tears are coming like a child.” Very good. I love you, too, my dear.
Atma says, “Beautiful moment. Beautiful. Beautiful is this here and now.” Yes.
Louise says, “Father, I just want to hold your hand once, before I don’t need it anymore. This is strange, no?” No. It’s not strange. I am with you right now. Good.
Cornelia says, “Even when this body is destroyed, I remain untouched.” Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
The body does not deserve any specialness in this; and it does not deserve any shame also. You can have a beautiful car, or you can have a car that needs maintenance. It does not say anything about you. So the body is like a beautiful vehicle which is a gift to you. The problem only comes when we say ‘I am the body’. Good.
Atma says, ‘Trust, trust, trust. I have always been home. Never left.” Yes. “Yes, Father, at your feet.”
Ustreamer313 says, “Yes, I am Ajnani.” Yes. Good.
Sindhu says, “The seeking also seems very charming, until you finally have to admit how simple you are.” Yes. So beautiful. Very good. Yes, very charming.
Cornelia says, “Yes, Father.”
Ajnani says, “No need for any attributes.”
Louise says, “But feels I don’t want to ‘see’ before I get to hold your hand and will not need it; like holding onto the ‘student/Master’ so I can once have the joy of meeting the Master.” Yes.
And the mind will paint a picture for you that it doesn’t want this attachment burnt, but you know what happens when the attachment is burnt? You realize that we were always One. You see that we were always One. The Master’s hand is the hand you hold when you actually leave your hands completely open and let go. That is the only thing you hold by opening your hands. Everything else you have to grasp onto; you have to hold on tight. Because it is untrue. And the untrue needs to be held on tight, it needs to be reinforced by beliefs, it needs to be worked at. But only the true is present when you have let go of everything else. When you have completely opened your hands, then the true is holding your hand.
Prema says, “So many tears of joy and love today.” So much love.
Cornelia says, “You have always been here, love, holding our hands.”
Atma says, “Beautiful.”
Prema says, “We are always One.” Yes.
Long before these bodies were born we have known each other. And long after these bodies will go, we will know each other, as One. I am your own Heart, and I am always in your Heart.
Atma says, “The true is holding my hand.”
Louise says, “Yes, I am enjoying this attachment and the love that has come; but I open my hand.” Yes.
Who feels like hearing another bhajan? [devotional music]. We’re having a different kind of satsang today.
[Long silence after bhajan plays]. So much love to all of you. So much love.
I don’t think I’m able to read all the messages. I mean, I’m reading all of them, but don’t feel like I can read out all of them.
Ian says, “There is a truth that lies beyond all practice, all thought, feelings, and effort; beyond me and yet only Me. Nothing exists that does not cry out it’s name.” Yes, it’s very beautiful. [Reads again].
“For this reason, the Universe can burn, and I remain untouched.” Very beautiful. “Thank you, Ananta,” he says. Thank you, beloved one.
Louise says, “Father, do you have [the song] ‘Caravan of Love’?” Yes, yes.
Atma says, “This could be the last satsang. We do not need more.”
Sindhu says, “I love you, Ananta.” I love you, too, my dear.
Yes, ‘Caravan of Love’ also we can play today. Unless someone has a burning question? We can make it a singing satsang today. So I’ll wait for minute, if someone wants to type out a burning question, if they have… [Silence].
Yes. Ustreamer321 says, “Who sees Consciousness?” Yes.
This could be called…, actually we call most questions ‘ultimate question’, but this one we can call the ultimate question. But it’s very, very simple to answer.
The sense of pure Being is Consciousness itself. This is the Being which you say you cannot stop when I say ‘Can you stop being now?’ When I say ‘Can you stop being now?’ this is the Consciousness which you cannot stop. And who is aware of this? It is the pure seeing itself, which is You. So if I were to ask you very innocently, you would say ‘I am aware of this. I am aware even of Beingness’. But is this ‘I’ an entity? Is there a ‘seer’ there? If I were to tell you to tell me one attribute about the seer of Consciousness, you would not be able to tell me. Because there is no ‘seer’ actually. There is only the pure Seeing itself.
This pure Seeing is what we call Awareness, and this Awareness is aware of everything, including the Beingness. And when I ask you ‘Are you aware now?’ and you say you are aware now, it means this pure Awareness is aware even of Itself. And this pure seeing, this pure Awareness, is the natural state. This is beyond all states. All states arise in this. Even the waking state arises in this, or the dream state arises in this, with the birth of Being itself, the birth of Consciousness itself. When there is Consciousness, there is the waking sate, which is actually the same as dream state. So Consciousness gives birth inside the seeing itself, inside the Awareness. Consciousness depends on Awareness; Awareness is independent even of Consciousness.
I hope that’s clear. And just with the words, this will not become apparent. All that is required is a simple following of the pointing; just a seeing in a very innocent, childlike way, dropping all knowledge which has been picked up from the past. It can be simply seen to be the truth.
Ustreamer21 says, “Yes, I see as this.” Yes. Very good.
Ustreamer313, Ajnani says, “These words are honey-drops.”
Amrit Gaurav says, “Yes, beloved Anantaji. I also got the answer. Thank you so much.” Very good, very good.
Marianate in this; just stay with this and you will see is your own natural state. You cannot leave the Awareness. You cannot step out of Awareness and become something else. You can only pretend. Even the Beingness actually, you can only pretend to be.
Denan says, “I have to leave early today, but thank you for such a beautiful satsang.” Thank you for joining us, Denan. Very good. Much gratitude to you, too.
So, we’ll play this song now called ‘Caravan of Love’. It’s a good thing we play this song because some construction activity seems to be going on today. This song is ‘Caravan of Love’ by the Housemartins. And it just coincidentally was so funny to discover that it used to be my favorite song growing up as a kid for some point of time, and it also used t be a favorite for Louise and Zoe. And it’s not a very popular song or anything like that. It just happened to be a beautiful connection with some of the sangha members. So I’m playing it here.

Q: “Father, right off the bat I want to expose there is neediness and insecurity here. Seems to be getting stronger with satsang and involvement with sangha. Sometimes there is a great urge to escape.”
[Repeats] ‘There is neediness and insecurity here which seems to be getting stronger with satsang and involvement with sangha.’
It could also be that in the light of satsang, in the light of satsang, these things cannot stay hidden now. They come up more and more, and this feeling of being uncomfortable. Because these feelings are so clear now, and they’re being released from their denial, this happens more and more in satsang. And this can feel like you just want to escape this situation. That is the mind’s plan anyway. Because it knows that all of this pent up stuff is coming up and this is a good opportunity for the mind to say ‘This is getting too difficult’ or ‘This is getting too much. Good chance to escape now.’
So very simply now you can look at it and say there is a neediness, you have already said ‘There is a neediness and insecurity present here’. But, are they yours? What makes them yours? So there could be a pen present here, but what makes it mine? If I call it mine does it become mine? Anything can arise in our lives. All appearances can come, but without our identification with them, do they have the potential to cause any suffering?
Another Q: “Father, when you look into the screen everything stops.”
Another Q: “So much love and peace when you look through the screen.”
Q: “Leaving this for the fire and staying open for all the grace of satsang and your great love to deal with this as is best.”
Very good. As my Master says, ‘Do not expect satsang to be only chocolate flavored moments’. That would be only half the job. Hm? I would not even say half the job. If satsang was only chocolate flavored moments, and all this pent up stuff did not get released and vomited out, then it would not be enough.
Like I said, and you spoke about this earlier, ‘not one blade of grass you will be allowed to carry out of satsang’. Not even a blade of grass. All your insecurities, all the neediness will come out here stronger and stronger and will get released. And it is beautiful that it can happen in this way.
So do you have it? Can we adopt this approach to say that ‘I am completely open’ like you said? ‘Completely open to anything that arises. I do not have a preference for what is arising even.’ Can we have this approach? Then how long will this neediness and insecurity last?
And we can also say that all that is arising now is the Master’s problem now. It has nothing to do with you. All thoughts will try to convince you that it’s about you. None of this is about you. This ‘you’ does not exist at all.
Q: “Dear Father, can you talk more about suffering showing you what you are identified with?” Yes. It’s very simple, actually very simple. A thought comes which says ‘You are horrible at gymnastics’. A thought comes to you and says ‘You are horrible at gymnastics’. Does it hurt you? Hm? We will wait for your response. …
Q: “Dear Father, can you talk more about suffering showing you what you are identified with?”
Yes. It’s very simple, actually very simple. A thought comes which says ‘You are horrible at gymnastics’. A thought comes to you and says ‘You are horrible at gymnastics’. Does it hurt you? Hm? We will wait for your response. Does the thought that ‘You is horrible at gymnastics’, does it hurt you?
Q: “No”.
So this thought does not hurt. There is no suffering caused. And the next thought is ‘You are a horrible mother’.
Q: “Because I don’t identify as a gymnast.”
Exactly. The next thought is, ‘You are a terrible mother’. Does this hurt?
Q: “Ooh, the mother one has juice.”
Exactly. So in this way all suffering shows us what we are identified with. It is this simple, isn’t it? We can’t make it any simpler. So there is a concept around being a good mother, and when this concept is attacked by your own thoughts then you say ‘this is suffering’. But now you are seeing that you are not the ‘mother’. It is Consciousness itself which is the one doer and the one experiencer.
So any time we are identified with a mis-belief, be it even the most glorious identification…, in the root of this, in the tale of this identification, lies suffering. And in the tale of the suffering lies the freedom from the identification. Isn’t it so beautiful, this game? In the tale of the identification lies the suffering, and in the tale of the suffering lies the freedom from the identification. Because the suffering will continue as long as we are identified. There is no way around it.
But the instant it is seen that ‘I am not that’ then the suffering starts to vanish.
Q: “When suffering is experienced, I try to ask ‘Can this be seen?’ and it can, of course; but somehow there is more magnetism in the suffering, like an addiction to suffering, like an addiction???” It seems like that. But in suffering, is the opportunity to transcend suffering. It could be any thought. And if it …
Q: “When suffering is experienced, I try to ask ‘Can this be seen?’ and it can, of course; but somehow there is more magnetism in the suffering, like an addiction to suffering, like an addiction???”
It seems like that. But in suffering, is the opportunity to transcend suffering. It could be any thought. And if it causes suffering then it shows you what you are most identified with in that moment. And to see that ‘I am identified with this identity’. It could be a partner identity. It could be a worker identity. It could be a seeker identity. It could be a teacher identity. It could be a student identity. It could be a parent identity. But it just shows you that you have taken this identity too seriously. You have taken it to be real. And to remove this thorn of suffering, all that is required is to see that it can never be real.
In fact, it is great insight for you to see this. I remember there was a time here where there was this openness which said ‘Yes suffering is showing me all of this. Suffering is showing me what is still identified with’. Therefore, it is a great gift. It is a great blessing. And ‘May nothing be hidden now. May all of it come now. So that I might see what is still identified with here’…, this is a glorious prayer. To be able to say ‘Give all of it to me now. I want to see everything that I am identified with. Don’t keep any of it from me’. And there is complete openness for all our identities to be exposed. Can we have this openness? Can we have this openness?
So the magnetism actually is in the attempt to resist it. We’re so used to trying to counter the suffering. To say, ‘You should not be here. I don’t want you’. That’s where most of the juice comes from actually. The magnetism is from there. But if there’s complete openness, ‘I’m completely open to all that is arising’, then in a while all these identities will fall off on their own. Nothing will touch you actually. Nothing can touch you
