English Translation
If someone says I compose poetry, these words are not my own. This is not something arising from my own skill. Vishvambhara Himself makes me speak. What do I, a wretch, know of the layers of meaning? Govinda inspires, and I simply utter. I am merely seated at the measuring scale as a token. I am nothing; the Lord alone holds power. Says Tuka, I am truly but a foot-soldier, carrying the seal of the Name.
