English Translation
Do not fault the garment; the flaw lies in the wearer's character. Do not be offended by such plain speech. Everyone knows that food sustains life, but when poison is mixed in, it becomes deadly. Everyone knows gold is pure, yet an alloy debases it. High birth means nothing when the conduct is low; even that dignity is wasted. Says Tuka, only the truly brave one earns respect. Others merely carry the burden of ornaments.
