Sesame seeds and rice are scorched by lust and anger in just the same way. Why do you exhaust yourself in vain, O soul, by not worshipping Panduranga? For the sake of pride and pretense you struggled over letters and learning. You performed austerities and pilgrimages, but only inflated your ego. You gave away wealth, but carefully preserved your arrogance. Says Tuka, you have missed the secret entirely; all you have done amounts to irreligion.
