English Translation
Then why did the ancient sages remain unknowing? They kept this truth hidden from the common people. Those whom the eight supernatural powers serve do not touch the minds of ordinary folk. They ate roots and leaves to nourish the body, dwelling in the forest. Closing their eyes, they sat still in the seal of silence, speaking nothing. Says Tuka, do the same to my mind, O Ananta. Keep the world far away from me.
