English Translation

Fierce spirits tremble and even Death and the demons shake with fear before her. She dwells on the banks of the Bhima at Pandharpur. Chant her thousand names in one stream; she drives away evil spirits by her very touch. When Sita was seized, the goddess came roaring with her hair unbound. When Prahlada was tormented by the buffalo-demon, she arrived at once, grinding her teeth in fury. When seven infants of Vasudeva were devoured, she appeared at the fateful hour. When the Pandavas were driven into helpless exile, she rushed to their side and sheltered them. Wherever the name is remembered, she runs of her own accord, seeing only the devotee's faith. Says Tuka, she is our family goddess and our mother; what fear can death or its messengers hold for us?
