English Translation

O Hari, you are steadfast, beyond qualities, and yet your Maya is exceedingly harsh. You do things that have never been done, things no one else would dare to do. You stripped Harishchandra of his kingdom, horses, and all glory, and delivered his wife and son to the house of an outcaste. You tore Nala from Damayanti's side and ruined their union, as the whole world knows and the Puranas attest. King Shibi, compassionate to all creatures, was made to cut flesh from his own body for the scales. Karna, bold on the battlefield and pierced by arrows, was made to give up even his very teeth. Bali, the most generous of all, who gave away everything he had, was pressed down into the netherworld. At Shriyala's house, you, O Murari, staged a siege and had his own child slain by his own hand. Says Tuka, this is the fate you give to those who love you; there is no telling what you will do next.
