The speaker should be honored first with sandalwood paste, sacred rice, and worship. If a listener has taken the vow of renunciation, he should still receive what is fitting. As the head governs the whole body, so the hands and feet follow in proper order; everyone must uphold dharma by honoring truth. A prince is cared for by his father, and the father's authority is respected by all; such is the order that should be maintained. A stone placed upon the high seat should not be regarded as ordinary, while ornaments of gold placed lower are still subordinate. A golden anklet is humbled before a crown jewel; each ornament finds its proper place. The servant earns respect through his master's name and the master's wealth. Says Tuka, know this, O saints: honor each according to their rightful station.
