Says Tuka, my jiva is greatly distressed. I plead for mercy, O God-King.

What it means
This is the bare cry that closes a prayer. Tukaram drops all argument and reports his state: the jiva is deeply distressed. He asks for one thing, mercy, and addresses God as King, the one with the power to grant it. Short as it is, it holds the whole posture of surrender, a soul at the end of its own resources turning the matter over to God.
