English Translation

O God, do not disregard the dull-witted and the inert jivas. Hear this petition from us, Your lowly servants. Those who have come contemplating Your feet, will You deceive them? Says Tuka, O Supreme Being, forgive our transgressions.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

O God, do not pass over the dull-witted and the inert souls. Hear this petition of ours, Your lowly servants. Those who have come thinking of Your feet, will You cheat them? Tuka says: O Supreme Being, forgive our wrongs.

What it means

Tukaram prays on behalf of the slow and the spiritually inert, the ones least able to plead for themselves. He asks God not to overlook them and to hear the petition of His lowly servants. His leverage is God's own character: those who have come holding His feet in mind cannot be deceived by Him. So the prayer ends by simply asking the Supreme to forgive the transgressions, trusting that mercy, not merit, is what answers.
