रकारार्थो रामरमणः परमैश्वर्यजलधिर्मकारार्थो जीवः सकलविधिकैङ्कर्यनिपुणः। तयोरमध्येऽकारो युगलमथ सम्बन्धमनयोरनन्याहंब्रूते त्रिनिगमस्वरूपोऽयमतुलः॥१॥ श्रीजीवाद् रमण इत्यसौ त्रिजगतां स्वानन्दकारी वधूस्तस्मै सद्भिये करोमि शरणं नश्यामहं देहभृत्। तत्कैङ्कर्यप्रयोजनं मम सदा मन्त्रे चतुर्थ्यो नम इत्येवम्प्रतिपाद्यतेऽत्र मनुनाह्यर्थस्तु वेदात्मकः॥२॥ इति श्रीरामानुजाचार्य्यकृतं श्रीराममन्त्रार्थं समाप्तम्॥ अथ श्लोकार्थ कवित्त॥ बीजमें रकार अर्थ राम ईश मोद धाम परम विभूति दिव्य गुण सिंधु जानिए। त्यों मकार अर्थ जीव रामस्वामि सेवालीन मोह ममता ते हीन ज्ञानानन्द मानिए॥ ईश जीव बीचकी अकार जीव सों कहत राम सेवा जोग तूं न आन उर आनिए। राम मंत्र बीज तीनों वेदन को सार शुद्ध जपे रसरंगमणि रामध्यान ठानिए॥१॥ श्री-सिया को अंश सब जीवन रमावें निज रमनीय रूप ते त्रिलोकानन्द दानीजू। ऐसे सदवैभव श्रीरामको शरण करौं जाते जगदेह नहीं धरौं चारिसनोजू॥ उन्हीं की सेवा सों प्रयोजन है मोहिं सदा॥ मंत्रमें चतुर्थी औ नमः हेतु मानी जू। ऐसो यह राममंत्रराज अर्थ वेदरूप कहे रसरंगमणि रामानुज ज्ञानी जू॥२॥ षडरिपु षटऊ विकार महापापन को नाशक प्रकाशक सु गुण को—

The meaning of the syllable ra is Rāma, the delight of Ramā and ocean of supreme sovereignty. The meaning of ma is the individual soul, skilled in every mode of service. Between those two is the syllable a, joining the pair and declaring their relationship as one of exclusive belonging; this unequalled mantra is the form of the three Vedas. (1) From Śrī, the living beings, comes the Delighter, the bridegroom who gives his own bliss to the three worlds. To that true Beloved I take refuge, so that I, an embodied creature, may not perish. His service is forever my purpose. The dative ending and the word namaḥ in the mantra proclaim precisely this; the meaning taught by this mantra is Vedic in essence. (2) Thus ends the meaning of the Śrī Rāma mantra composed by Śrī Rāmānujācārya. Now the meaning of the verses in kavitt metre. In the seed, know the syllable ra to mean Rāma: the Lord, abode of bliss, supreme majesty, and ocean of divine virtues. Likewise ma means the living soul, whose master is Rāma, absorbed in service, free from delusion and possessiveness, and consisting of knowledge and bliss. The a between Lord and soul tells the soul, ‘You are fit for Rāma's service; bring no other into your heart.’ The seed of Rāma's mantra is the essence of the three Vedas. Repeat it purely, Rasarangamaṇi, firmly established in meditation upon Rāma. (1) All living beings are portions of Śrī Sītā, whom he delights by his own lovely form, giving bliss to the three worlds. I take refuge in Śrī Rāma, possessed of such eternal splendour, so that I may not assume a worldly body; his service alone is always my purpose. Understand the dative ending and namaḥ in the mantra as expressing this. Thus the wise Rāmānuja declared the Veda-formed meaning of this sovereign Rāma mantra, says Rasarangamaṇi.
