Fresh English translation
—two are white; understand the chest. The breast, belly, armpits, nose, lustre, and redness are the six prominent features, says Rasarangamaṇi. (9) Hair, uneven brows, nails, body hair, skin, hidden organs, finger joints, sight, and understanding should be considered in this way. Listen, Sītā: know these nine subtle limbs of Śrī Rāma; thus were the Lord's immeasurable marks declared. At the earlier, middle, and later times of dharma, wealth, and desire, Rasarangamaṇi says he uplifts the world. Devoted to gathering wealth and armies, established in truth and dharma, and intent on grace toward all, he brings happiness. (10) Raghunandana always speaks lovingly to those dear to him; as king he understands the divisions of place and time. His brother, the bliss-giving son of Sumitrā, Lakṣmaṇa, is a treasury of loving devotion, divine form, and auspicious marks. Victorious, humble, and fair-limbed, he too is an ocean of virtues and, says Rasarangamaṇi, incomparable and like Rāma himself. I have rendered into graceful language the fine marks of the Great Person that Vālmīki sang in the Sundara Kāṇḍa. (11) Thus is completed the vernacular translation of the description of Śrī Rāma's divine marks as the Great Person, in the dialogue of Śrī Sītā and Hanumān in the Sundara Kāṇḍa of the primordial poem, the Śrī Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa. Homage to Śrī Ayodhyā and Sarayū. Vikrama year 1965. Now, the verses composed by Śrī Rāmānujācārya on the meaning of the Śrī Rāma mantra.
