Fresh English translation

—O revered guru, make me drink the cup whose flood is the sweet rasa of friendship. Let worldly bonds and mortal affection become like a fair upon the crocodile of existence. Abandoning obstructive practices and offences, may I dwell through all eight watches in the sweet companionship of the charming Rāmalāla, says Rasarangamaṇi. (128) The compassionate true guru made me a resident of the golden mansion. My eyes became cakora birds for the lovely moon-face, steeped in the Divine Couple's play of rasa. Ripened in friendship and intoxicated by the fresh sidelong glance of grace, Maṇi Rasaranga became the singular darling of the tender Queen Sītā. (129) When Raghubīra returned home after his wedding, he received the joys of his in-laws' house. At the first ceremonial meal, the father gave me as a wedding gift to the beloved Prince. Thus I belong to the Lady of the pleasure-sports and have become the attendant of the Lord of Ayodhyā. Maṇi Rasaranga is the singular darling of the tender Queen Sītā. (130) I have accepted friendship with the Lord as the true relationship—what value have brittle worldly ties? Devotion to Sītā's Lord, joined with knowledge and detachment, has raised a festival in my mind. Free of sense-objects, pride, and worldly honour, I am a fish fashioned in the water of Rāma's rasa. Maṇi Rasaranga, lover of the Name, is a true child of Raghu's line. (131) The divine guru, ocean of grace, gave friendship through hearing and revealed the form of a companion who is a portion of Rāma. That same bond of friendship shone as the meaning of the sovereign mantra and settled in understanding, awareness, and heart, flooding them with friendship. Friendship entered speech, mind, eyes, body, and ego, delighting every pore. Guru and saints rained a cloud of compassionate love, and Rasarangamaṇi beheld the whole world as friendship. (132) He makes sound dissolve into Sound, sight into the Form, and speech into the Name. In separation from Rāma, without meeting the Beloved, he burns all three bodies in longing. Rasarangamaṇi, pure embodiment of rasa and filled with love, places himself in the hands of such a Beloved. That very likeness and twofold friendship gives the flower of bliss: crossing himself, he carries others across. (133)
