—exists. By repeating the Name, the stain of Kali is cut away, happiness draws near, and the truly devoted soul reaches the state of liberation. By repeating it, Rāma’s form becomes manifest, while evil desire, perverse love, and their consequences diminish. Repeating it, one beholds Rāma’s play; mind, body, and wealth yearn for it, and worldly play no longer pleases the mind. Repeating it, Rasarangamaṇi attains the bliss of love and joins the soul to the saints in reciting the Name. Repeating the Name brings residence in contemplation of Rāma’s abode, loving mental worship, and the heart’s delight. It produces detachment from the objects of becoming, so that the snares of māyā, lust, pride, and hypocrisy no longer torment one. It awakens the blessed imagination of rasa, evil fortune flees, and Rāma becomes dear. Rasarangamaṇi says: through repeating the Name the soul attains supreme devotion; no other method finds it even in a dream. Within the Name itself are Rāma’s form, his matchless abode, the host of virtues, and divine sovereignty. Within it are sacred feeling and devotion, the manifestation of rasa, the lover and the knower, and the attainment of supreme love. Rāma alone knows the Name’s full power and reveals it himself to Śiva, Hanumān, and the others. Falling at the feet of Sītā-Rāma, Sītārāma Śaraṇa Rasarangamaṇi asks this boon: make me repeat Sītā-Rāma’s Name alone. No water equals the Gaṅgā, no depth the ocean, no steadiness the primal sage, no hero the wish-cow’s lord, and no desire equals love. There is no saint like Śuka, no season like spring, no mighty one like Hanumān, and none compassionate like Rāma. There is no benefactor like holy company, says Rasarangamaṇi, no limb of happiness like it, and no crooked affliction like bad company. There is no tantra like the Pañcarātra, no musician like Nārada, no friendship like Sumitrā’s, and no mantra like Rāma’s Name.
