—has made exclusive surrender alone firm and unsurpassed. When the crooked ways of the dark age spread grave sin and destroyed the Veda and devotion while slandering the path, Raghunandana saw every creature crushed by conflict and took birth as the giver of bliss. He extended the bridge, spread the saving mantra, and carried embodied, wilful souls across becoming. Rasarangamaṇi bows at the feet of Svāmī Rāmānanda, such an ocean of saints and root of compassion. He appeared in blessed Prayāga from a Brahmin of the Kaśyapa line, like the dark-fortnight Māgha sun dispelling gloom. In Kāśī’s sky he spread a mass of blissful light; his twelve good disciples were like abodes of the sun’s rays. He shattered the night of Kali’s crookedness, drove away the darkness of hypocrisy, and turned back the dreadful leftward paths of faithless thieves. The Veda bore fruit, every dwelling became holy, and communities of saints blossomed: Svāmī Rāmānanda is Rasarangamaṇi’s sun. Homage, homage to Queen Devotion, mine of happiness, greater than knowledge and yoga, an accumulation of immense glory. She breaks the fear of becoming, is the sign of supreme love, and is steeped in the five rasas, declares Rasarangamaṇi. She destroys passion and the night of delusion, grief, and fault, and makes the fair radiance of Sītā-Rāma shine in the heart. Even the unfettered Supreme Lord is like a mighty elephant whom her noose of love knows how to master and bind. She sits splendidly upon an ocean of good conduct as her lion-throne, upon the pure auspicious cushion of forgiveness and peace. Knowledge and discrimination wave the fly-whisks, while detachment and yoga carry her four joyful traditions. Lady Learning plays the vīṇā; Revelation, absorbed in music, dances; humility and the other virtues cannot equal her. Supreme attachment, formed of rasa, supreme devotion—
