—की इच्छा कर सकता है। अब इसका तात्पर्य यह सूत्र गोदादेवीजी के प्रबन्ध का है अर्थात् गोदादेवीजी विरहावस्था को प्राप्त हैं और इनकी मातायें समझाती हैं कि अब परमार्थ का विषय है कि इतनी हठ न करो, प्रारब्ध शेष होने पर तुम वहाँ जाओगी और भगवान तुमको वैकुण्ठ में मिलेंगे। इस शरीर के छूट जाने पर इत्यादि बातें सुनकर गोदादेवीजी कहती हैं—हे माताओ! इस विषय में हमारा क्या दोष है? दोष है उस दिव्यमङ्गल विग्रह का। यह व्यङ्गस्तुति है, याने अपने सरकार को कहती हैं कि इनके नेत्रों में जादू है, टोना है। किसी को टोनहा बताना दोष है, परन्तु वह दोष नहीं माना जाता है, वह तो व्यङ्गरूप प्रशंसा मानी जाती है और इन वचनों से सरकार और प्रसन्न होते हैं क्योंकि ज्ञानदशा में नियम प्रधान रहता है और जब प्रेम की दशा प्राप्त होती है तो नियम गौण हो जाता है और प्रेम प्रधान हो जाता है। प्रेमप्रवाहे सम्प्राप्ते न विधिर्न च कर्म च। (विष्णुपुराण) श्रीगोदादेवीजी कहती हैं कि हे माताओ! जिस दशा में हम हैं वह दशा आप लोगों को प्राप्त नहीं है, इसी से हमको आप लोग समझाती हो। हमारी दशा सुनो। उस प्रभु की अति शोभायमान दिव्यमङ्गलमय मूर्ति हमारे अन्तःकरण-चित्तचत्वर में निरन्तर चमकती रहती है। इस ध्येयाकार दशा में मैं उनसे पूर्णरूप से संश्लेष करती हूँ, याने संभोग करती हूँ। जब कभी विश्लेष हो जाता है याने वियोग हो जाता है, तो विरह से पगली सरीखी हो जाती—

—could desire any other object. This sūtra's purport belongs to Godādevī's composition. Godādevī has entered the state of separation, and her mothers counsel her not to persist so obstinately: when the remainder of her allotted karma has been exhausted, she will go there and meet the Lord in Vaikuṇṭha after this body falls. Hearing such words, Godādevī says, ‘Mothers, what fault is ours in this matter? The fault belongs to that divine auspicious form.’ This is ironic praise. She tells her Lord that his eyes possess magic, an enchantment. To call someone an enchanter is ordinarily blame, but here it is praise in the guise of blame, and the Lord is further pleased by such words. In the state of knowledge, rule is primary; when the state of love arrives, rule becomes secondary and love primary. ‘When the current of love is reached, there is neither injunction nor ritual action’ (Viṣṇu Purāṇa). Godādevī says, ‘Mothers, you have not attained the state in which I am, and so you advise me. Hear my condition. The Lord's exceedingly beautiful divine auspicious image shines constantly in the courtyard of my inner heart. In this state, shaped wholly as the object of meditation, I embrace and unite with him completely. Whenever separation occurs, I become like a madwoman from longing—’
