Fresh English translation
That is, the conscious power that is the soul, established in its own nature, is called kaivalya—the liberated soul. The very word ‘power’ makes the soul's feminine character clear. The meaning is that in liberation every soul abides in feminine form. Therefore five hundred celestial women come to the liberated soul at the bank of the Virajā, adorn it, and conduct it to the Divine Couple. This is written in the Kauṣītaki Upaniṣad of the Ṛgveda. For the same reason, Saṃhitā 4, Kāṇḍa 2, hymn 7 states that Hiraṇyagarbha Śrī Rāma is the husband of every soul. In the Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa of Śrī Vālmīki, the Lord is called Hiraṇyanābha. The mantra says: ‘In the beginning Hiraṇyagarbha arose; born as the one lord of all that exists.’ Thus says revelation. Hence it is written: ‘Therefore this is the innate nature of prakṛti: the soul stands toward the Lord in a feminine disposition.’ In other words, it is prakṛti's very nature to stand toward God as feminine; the whole created order serves God in that mood. A brief indication may also be given from the principal works of the Śrī Rāmānuja tradition, the Vārtāmālā and the Śrīvacanabhūṣaṇa, concerning relationship. Vārtāmālā, discourse fourteen, says: knowledge of the means and knowledge of relationship. Knowledge of relationship is fourfold: knowledge of the relationship, knowledge of its true character, knowledge of its essential form, and knowledge of the true character of that essential form. The purport is that knowledge of one's relationship is the real means to attaining the Lord. Further detail should be consulted in that work. The explanation of the fourteenth discourse appears in statement 22 of Śrī Dhanurdāsa—
