The undivided word namaḥ teaches the relation of self and one's own; when divided so that maḥ is treated as a genitive form after na, it also teaches the relation of enjoyed object and enjoyer. The author then presents passages from the Sahasra-gīti of Śaṭhakopa Svāmī, identified as the earliest teacher in Rāmānuja's lineage. Śaṭhakopa regarded himself contemplatively as a princess: although outwardly male, he spoke in this feminine devotional identity for the sake of the relationship cultivated in contemplation. In the cited verse, the mother restrains the maiden from seeing him, thinking, ‘This girl is under Kāma's sway.’ The maiden answers that she is in this condition because she has seen the Lord of divine Kuranga city. His radiant form, perpetually served by the gods and foremost eternal attendants, shines constantly in her mind; she knows this inward secret, not another. The Hindi explanation begins to unfold the speech and continues onto the next page.
