Fresh English translation

One stands on one branch of that tree and cuts the remaining branches from there. In the same way, the seeker holds the previously described knowledge within the fourfold inner instrument and relinquishes [an indistinct phrase]. Continuing the discipline, the seeker eventually reaches the perfected condition and the inner instrument fashioned by Māyā dissolves. One then becomes absorbed in the bliss of divine love. Although the triads of knowledge, knower, and known, and of contemplation, contemplator, and object contemplated, remain, their separate divisions are no longer experienced; through the continuing current of self-identification they become joined in a single state. It is like a person who smells a doctor's bottle and becomes absorbed in its intoxicating effect. Although self, mind, senses, and body are all still present, the person perceives no separate standing for them because of that absorption. So too the seeker is absorbed here in the bliss of divine love. The statement that there is no knowledge, no knower, and no assertion ‘I am the self’ belongs to that moment. It is therefore indescribable. What has no comparable predicate is called indescribable: this bliss of divine love cannot be compared with anything else. What does dissolution of the inner instrument mean? It means the arising of the divine inner instrument and the subsiding of the inner instrument fashioned by Māyā. Just as night disappears when the sun rises, so the Blessed Lord himself teaches this very principle in the Gītā.
