Thus I have explained the contented refugee together with the anguished one, both full of rasa and joy. Steadfast identification with the teacher is beautiful and naturally made of love. I now describe this fifth and supreme means, a treasury of happiness. Place firm hope in the true guru’s feet and serve the revered teacher. Disdain every other desire and receive the matter as it truly is. The guru’s lotus gives light; wear its stainless, supreme pollen upon your brow, and terrible Time loses its force. Cultivate natural affection for all who belong to the guru, hear the excellent guru’s words, and make the inner heart their home. Worship of the true guru’s feet is naturally essential, supreme, joy-giving, and a dwelling of delight. Therefore the incomparable means of serving the guru’s feet is easily accessible and happiness itself. The rule that cannot accomplish knowledge, yoga, devotion, or surrender should abandon every other hope and reliance and take firm refuge in the dust of the guru’s feet. Give body, mind, wealth, and everything to the guru and contemplate the attitude of lowliness. By the power of the supremely compassionate one’s grace, beautiful, joy-giving love for Sītā’s Lord arises. Limiting identities and the painful disease of the three afflictions fall away suddenly. Remain subject to the true guru and attain the supreme station through his grace. Exceedingly merciful and regarding the disciple as his own, he removes the weariness born of ignorance. He keeps the disciple filled with supreme delight, untouched by the wind of sense-objects. He delivers that soul through his own majesty and does not allow disgust to enter its worship. The generous and mighty teacher entrusts it, beautiful in happiness, directly to Sītā’s Beloved and brings it effortlessly into the incomparable eternal form.
