English Translation

Talking about the knowledge of the Self is difficult; how can true experience arise in the heart from words alone? For the world, the easier path is devotion; even the ignorant can offer their hearts attentively to the sacred story. The ear does not wish to hear of austere practices, but it gladly listens to joyful songs of praise. There is no comfort in retreating to the forest; the devoted heart longs for Hari's kirtan. Who has the strength for Time's harsh discipline? Better to spend every moment in auspicious contemplation. Says Tuka, we play with simple toys of devotion; like innocent children, we accept whatever share of grace is given.
