English Translation

The true soldier earns his keep through genuine soldiering. The real soldier is known by his readiness to take a blow upon his body. No defeat ever touches him. One who takes wages from two houses is exposed; the true soldier is recognized by his undivided loyalty. Having accomplished the deed, he gives the credit to his Master. For the soldier, truthfulness is his real name. Says Tuka, the soldier's place is distinct. Without the Master's own presence, there is no station at all.
