English Translation

Become a pilgrim. Go, go, and see Pandhari. All pride will vanish and every longing will be fulfilled. Says Tuka, the dark-hued Vitthal has taken His seat within my eyes.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

Become a Varkari. Go, go and see Pandhari. Pride will not remain; every longing is filled. Tuka says: the dark Vitho has taken His seat in my eyes.

What it means

Tukaram calls the listener onto the pilgrim road. Become a Varkari, he urges, and go to look upon Pandhari. He names what the journey does: it dissolves pride and satisfies every craving, because both are emptied out before the deity. Then he speaks from his own experience to seal the call. The dark-hued Vitthal now sits within his very eyes, which is what waits for anyone who goes.
