English Translation

Narayana has arranged it so that we may sit and eat our fill in peace, free from all scrambling and strife. Our capital is right here at home; there is no need to spend even a word. Says Tuka, all the struggle and crowding has come to an end.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

We sit down and eat the gain in peace, the scrambling and the tug-of-war all dodged. This is what Narayana has done. The life He gives is good and full of joy. The capital is right here in our own house; not even a word has to be spent. Tuka says: all the toil and all the crowding is over now.

What it means

Tukaram is celebrating the ease of the devotional life as Narayana has arranged it. Where worldly gain demands struggle and elbowing for a share, here the seeker can simply sit and partake in peace. The treasure of the Name is already at home, costing nothing, not even the spending of a word. The whole strain and press of worldly striving, he says, has come to an end.
