English Translation

Set aside your cleverness and wrap it up. Here, devotion alone is the measure. By following the one Lord of Pandhari, all is accomplished. No room is left for debate, logic, or strenuous effort. Says Tuka, without devotion, all speech is mere toil.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

Wrap up your cleverness and set it aside. Here faith alone is the measure. Follow the one Lord of Pandhari and the work is done; the King of Pandhari knows all. There is no room here for reasoning back and forth, no need for strain. Tuka says: without faith, all that men say is only weariness.

What it means

Tukaram tells the seeker to bundle away his cleverness, because on this path faith is the one standard that counts. Surrender to the single Lord of Pandhari and everything needful is accomplished, for the King of Pandhari himself knows and handles all. Argument, counter-argument, and laborious effort have no place here. Without that inward faith, he says, all the speech in the world is only exhausting toil that arrives nowhere.
