In ghanātarī meter, the Lord describes the realms above the earth as successively doubled. Maharloka is said to be ten million yojanas away; two crores higher is Janaloka, then Tapoloka, Satyaloka, and the realm of the Kumāras. Beyond are Umā's world and Śiva's world, and beyond them the seven coverings. Earth's principle is reckoned at fifty crores; each succeeding covering—water, fire, wind, space, ego, earth and smell—is to be understood as ten times the former, all within the form of ignorance. Beyond ignorance, hear of the realm resplendent above knowledge: beginning at its threshold, the worlds of that abode are measureless in yojanas. Above it is an infinitely high, radiant yogic realm, and above that the dwelling named Vāsudeva. Rāmacaraṇa says that near the realm beyond knowledge stands yet another abode, where Śyāma is together with his beloved upon his left. If Purāṇa, Veda and Saṃhitā do not attest it, let people pull the skin of the divine feet across his mouth. In the opening of a harigīta, the Lord says: 'Hear, Brahmā—who can tell the splendor, qualities, form and name of Brahman's play? I describe it according to the measure of my understanding, as a bird flies in the sky yet cannot grasp the sky.'
