Fresh English translation
Lovely water-syringes move toward the Beloved while clouds of red powder fly toward the companions. Saffron, aloes, vermilion, and bright colour become a fragrant mire as waves rise in the ocean of joy. A skilful companion named Hemā catches the Lord by a playful ruse; one steals his yellow robe, another presses her breast to his, another kisses Lālan's face, and another laughingly places a betel roll in his mouth. Joined with the Beloved, the companions embody delight, and Rāmacaraṇa composes an incomparable secret sport. Two ornate Sanskritized verses praise the beautiful women, pure smiles, lotus feet, moonlight within cloud-darkness, and the graceful, dancing union of lover and beloved. The Harigīt passage then begins: as the dance touches the jewelled floor, every reflected image sparkles, and Beauty, Love, and Rati seem ashamed before the adorned feet.
