Fresh English translation

The preceding description continues: makers have spread a rich paste of saffron, agarwood, sandal, and musk. (10) In the city's center shines a lofty white mansion with a jeweled pavilion, jeweled pillars, and lamps that enchant Love's own mind. (11) Pearl festoons, doorways, finials, and canopies make sun, moon, lightning, stars, and even time seem hidden in awe. Upon a jeweled throne sits a Person whose thousand heads, faces, eyes, ears, hands, and feet radiate beauty. (12) His thousand crowns are moons; two thousand earrings adorn him. He wears crystal necklaces, a forest garland, jeweled armlets and bracelets, yellow garments, sacred thread, rings, and a girdle of bells. (13) Anklets grace his lotus feet, and his pearl-like nails blaze. Even crores of Sarasvatīs could not finish describing him. At his left is his own Power, a mass of form beyond comparison—what worldly likeness could be offered without making the world itself ridiculous? (14) Foremost among his attendants is ninefold devotion, holding parasol and fly-whisk; many companions gaze upon him in delight within this abode of knowledge. Mahāviṣṇu, Lord of the universe, is ever his portion; from him arise Brahmā, Hari, and Śambhu to govern the world. The page ends as creation, preservation, and dissolution are assigned among the three causal persons and the three guṇas.
