Fresh English translation
The stanza resumes: may I always dwell in Rāma’s abode, bathe in Sarayū’s water, fall at the feet of Jānakī’s Lord, and contemplate Hanumān, Bharata, and the others. May my ears hear only Rāma’s praise and my mouth resolve to repeat only his name. Rasaraṅgamaṇi knows no other benefactor than Lord Sītā-Rāma. He accepts the pervasive, emanated, four-armed, and twenty-fourfold forms as Rāma’s, yet no other form pleases his mind or eyes; he brings only Sītā’s Lord into his heart. Although the whole ocean is water, the cātaka stubbornly seeks only the Svātī raindrop; likewise he knows no other benefactor. The witness prints an anomalous stanza number 75 here, and it is preserved as such. Rāma, like the sun, reveals his own name and mercifully opens the lotus of the poet’s heart. The name is found in emptiness and fullness, in form and word, in the subtle resonance and point. Let it be repeated with every nasal breath, near the eyebrows, in eyes and speech; let Rāma inhabit every limb, the mind, and every hair. Jānakī is governed by compassion and warm toward the devotee; she destroys the sorrow of becoming and is renowned in the Vedas. Her moonlike face is a shining abode of beauty; she is of auspicious disposition, insight, love, and vision. She smiles gently, is lovely and fair-complexioned, makes her beloved’s heart blossom, and is steeped in Rāma’s rasa. She possesses divine qualities, tests new love, showers noble happiness, and is the virtuous mistress of Sītā’s Lord. She raises those who bow, repairs what is broken, gives rise to divine virtues, and removes affliction. She forgets faults, accomplishes devotees’ work, spreads happiness, and loves the Supreme. She roams the palace, wears all sixteen adornments, captivates the mind, and sustains the Lord of rasa. She carries Rasaraṅgamaṇi across, casts upon him the corner of her grace-filled glance, and makes known her fame as the Lady of Rameśa.
