[मूल — चौपाई और दोहा] नन्ना भव समुद्र को नावा। हरि गुरु सन्त और नहिं दावा॥ तरौ चहै भव सिन्धु अपारा। तौ सत संगत करो बिचारा॥ नन्ना नहो न संत सों, छोड़ो कपट सुभाव। अंत काज हैं संत सों, संत बचन मन लाव॥ [सुजन-प्रबोधिनी सरल टीका] श्री ग्रन्थकार जी महाराज पुनः नकार व्यंजन द्वारा संकेत कर रहे हैं कि संसार रूपी समुद्र तरने को अर्थात् भव पार होने के लिये, श्री हरि, श्रीगुरु, श्री संत ही दावादार निश्चय रूप दवा है और कोई उपाय नहीं है। यदि तुम भव समुद्र से तरना चाहते हो, तो सतपुरुषों की संगत करो और प्रत्येक बात में विचार रक्खो और विचार संयुक्त सत संगति को ग्रहण करो। तो जग अपार समुद्र से सहज में पार हो जाओगे। अर्थात् निस्तार पा जाओगे। संत जनों से नहों नहीं, यानी विरोध भाव नहीं रक्खो और छल कपट से रहित होकर सुन्दर स्वभाव से स्वाभाविक सुन्दर भाव युक्त संतों से रहा करो। संतों से ही अंत में काम पड़ता है। संतों के द्वारा ही श्री प्रभु प्राप्त होते हैं। संत सदैव पराये कार्य में अर्थात् उपकार में रत रहते हैं इससे संतों के बचनों को मन में लाया करो। जो संत कहें उसको यथार्थ ही समझ करो। अर्थात् जो संत आज्ञा दें वो मन से मानकर हृदय में रक्खा करो। ये तात्पर्य है। श्री गोस्वामी जी कहते हैं कि, “पर उपकार वचन मन काया। संत सहज स्वभाव खगराया।” संत वेष लखि हरि सम जानो। विनय भाव युत नत शिर मानो॥
[Root — Chaupai and Doha] Nannā: The boat across the ocean of becoming is Hari, the Guru, and the saints; no other has a claim. If you desire to cross the boundless ocean of becoming, then thoughtfully seek the company of saints. Nannā: Do not be at odds with the saints; abandon a deceitful disposition. At the final need, the saints are your recourse; lodge their words within the mind. [Sujana-prabodhinī Simple Commentary] Through the consonant na, the revered author again indicates that, to cross the ocean of worldly existence—that is, to reach the farther shore of becoming—Śrī Hari, Śrī Guru, and the saints alone possess the sure remedy; there is no other means. If you wish to cross the ocean of becoming, keep the company of realized saints. Maintain discernment in every matter, and embrace saintly company together with such discernment. You will then cross the vast ocean of the world with ease; that is, you will attain deliverance. Do not stand opposed to saintly people. Free from deceit and guile, live among saints of beautiful character whose naturally lovely disposition is joined to noble feeling. In the end, it is the saints who are of use; it is through the saints alone that Śrī Prabhu is attained. Saints are always engaged in the affairs of others—that is, in doing good—so bring their words into the mind. Understand whatever a saint says as true. In other words, accept inwardly the command a saint gives and preserve it in the heart. This is the purport. Śrī Gosvāmī Jī says: ‘Doing good to others in word, mind, and body is the saint’s natural character, O king of birds.’ When you see the dress of a saint, regard its wearer as equal to Hari; with a humble heart, honor that person with bowed head.
