There reign the radiant women of the Abode, before whose still more divine ornaments and garments worldly finery is ashamed. Adorned from nail to crown, they offer praise and irresistibly steal the whole heart. From their lovely lotus hands the traveller receives stainless ornaments and milks the joy they hold. These attendants, sent by Sītā’s Lord, immerse the soul in their colourful company and, amid limitless wonder along the path, teach it as embodiments of happiness. Its heart’s eagerness grows fourfold as it travels toward its own joyful and auspicious home, remembering the virtues of the true guru while its body thrills without restraint. The sight of the female servants of the sacred city is dear, their touch equal to the Supreme Lord’s. It fills the heart with intense joy and brings sorrow to an end. Continuing along the royal road, the wise traveller sees a gateway made in indescribably immense designs of great jewels. Bowing at the gatekeeper’s feet, it follows the indicated path within and finds true delight as it sees the extraordinary construction. A dwelling of happiness supported by a thousand pillars, the pavilion is always splendid with light. It checks the rays of countless suns and binds the devotional heart, filling it with eager feeling. Jeweled stairs and the doorway enchant the mind; the climber ascends as the heart’s delight increases. With its eyes it beholds the captivating Pair, fair and dark and steeped in wondrous colour. Bow and arrow shine in lotus hands; ever-new ornaments adorn them from nail to crown. Earrings, crowns, and moonlike ornaments glow, and seeing their radiant beauty enchants the understanding. Every limb is perfectly divine, lovely, beyond all comparison, and heart-delighting; excellent dark and yellow garments reveal still more stainless beauty. At Ayodhyā’s centre reigns Ayodhyā’s guileless Lord with the whole retinue. Countless companions and excellent servants glitter nimbly in every direction, holding diverse service articles and gazing upon the Beloveds with arms around one another’s necks.
