Abhanga 732The Moral Ideal

General

English Translation · I.P. 732

WHERE in the past men erred through ignorance, I pardon them; now I make a rule for them ! He who goes with a strange woman is no better than an incestuous wretch. Now that I have made this rule, let me see no more the man who cannot govern his mind. Tuka says, We must take our conscience for our guide; I have sworn that I will obey it.

Tr. J. Nelson Fraser & K.B. Marathe (1909)
