Pandhari

THE guUt which cannot be purged by searching the Sastras is altogether put aw T ay by the sight of Pandhari. Blessed, blessed is the bank of the Bhima, the lake of Chandrabhaga. The warrior form of Vitthala is at Padmatlrtha; the place of his sport is at Venunada. Here is the mother of all sacred spots; Vaikuntha on earth, unchangeable. His name is proclaimed with shouts; the demons of destruction tremble. There is no spot to compare with this; none that can be weighed against it. Fortunate is the lot of those w T ho behold Pandhari; since you are born into the w f orld, come, look but once upon it! What is left of your sins, when you have seen the god and his worshippers ? Such is the city of Vishnu that all grow divine in it, both men and women. The wheel of Vishnu goes round the town; Time and Death cannot enter it. To describe that joy I have no means nor spirit; they who visit Pandhari have reached Vaikuntha. Tuka says, He who believes not these words of mine, he is vile here and hereafter; he loves not Pandhari !
