राम कबहुँ प्रिय लागिहौ जैसे नीर मीनको? सुख जीवन ज्यों जीवको, मनि ज्यों फनिको हित, ज्यों धन लोभ-लीनको॥ १॥ ज्यों सुभाय प्रिय लगति नागरी नागर नवीनको। त्यों मेरे मन लालसा करिये करुनाकर! पावन प्रेम पीनको॥ २॥ मनसाको दाता कहैं श्रुति प्रभु प्रबीनको। तुलसिदासको भावतो, बलि जाउँ दयानिधि! दीजै दान दीनको॥ ३॥
Rāma, when will you become as dear to me as water is to a fish, a happy life to a living being, the jewel to a serpent, and wealth to one absorbed in greed? (1) As a clever young woman is naturally dear to her youthful lover, so, Treasury of Compassion, awaken in my mind a longing for pure and abundant love of you. (2) The Vedas declare that the all-wise Lord grants the heart's desire. Treasury of Mercy, I am devoted to you: grant this lowly Tulsi the gift he longs for. (3)
