I shall know that you have accepted me when my mind turns back toward you. With the same natural ease with which it became attached to sense-objects, it will cast off deceit and love the Lord. (1) It will love you as it loves a son, trust you as it trusts a friend, and fear you as it fears a king. It will entrust all its interest to the Master and, like the cātaka bird, never turn from its single support in any direction. (2) It will not exult when greatly honored, nor burn itself to death when slighted. It will remain even-minded in loss and gain, sorrow and joy, good and harm, and will abandon the Kali age's crooked ways. (3) Hearing the Lord's virtues, the mind will rejoice and tears will stream from the eyes. Tulsi will then trust that he has become Rāma's; seeing such love, joy will surge up and fill his heart. (4)
